Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Vanguard Squad, Warrior-Level Summoned Beast

"You think I'm in the mood to joke with you right now?" Principal Zhu shot Zhang Jianguo a glare.

Seeing that Principal Zhu didn't seem to be joking, Zhang Jianguo, Xue Musheng, and the other teachers all turned to look at Zhou Haoyu, their eyes filled with shock, confusion, and all sorts of emotions.

The surrounding students were even more dumbfounded clearly about the same age as them, yet somehow stronger than the principal?

"Principal Zhu, the priority right now should be to evacuate as soon as possible," Zhou Haoyu reminded.

In truth, whether Principal Zhu explained it or not didn't matter much to him he just wanted to hurry up and open those two treasure chests.

"Yes, yes, we must make the most of every moment."

Principal Zhu nodded repeatedly. The longer they stayed here, the greater the danger.

"But with so many people, if we all move together, we'll definitely draw the attention of demon beasts," a female teacher said.

"Splitting up would be even more dangerous. They're just students if they encounter demon beasts, their chances of surviving are way too low," Zhang Jianguo countered.

"Then how about sending a vanguard team to clear the way ahead, with the main group following closely behind?" Xue Musheng proposed a rather reasonable suggestion.

"That's a good idea."

Principal Zhu gave Xue Musheng an approving glance, then turned back to Zhou Haoyu and said, "Young Master Zhou, how about you lead one team and head out first? I'll take responsibility for the rest of the students."

Zhou Haoyu frowned. While the idea wasn't bad, he wasn't satisfied with it.

If something happened in the rear, he wouldn't be able to provide support. If Principal Zhu still ended up dying, then all his efforts would have been in vain.

"No. I need to ensure the safety of the majority of the students," Zhou Haoyu replied.

The teachers exchanged looks how could a young master from a major city family have such a strong sense of responsibility?

"This…"

Principal Zhu looked troubled. It wasn't possible for him to personally lead the vanguard team.

At this moment, Xue Musheng gritted his teeth and said, "Then… how about I gather a few top students from the elite class to form the vanguard squad?"

Principal Zhu's expression was still a bit hesitant, but at this point, it seemed to be their only option.

Not long after, Xue Musheng returned with Mo Fan, Zhang Xiaohou, Zhou Min, Mu Bai, He Yu, and several others.

They were the strongest among the students some even rivaled the strength of the teachers.

"Are you sure you want to join the vanguard squad?" Principal Zhu asked them seriously.

Mo Fan, Zhou Min, Mu Bai, and the others all nodded. Teacher Xue had already explained the risks involved.

"Principal, isn't he a Mid-Level Mage too? Why don't you let him join the vanguard squad?" Zhao Kun San suddenly pointed at Zhou Haoyu.

Principal Zhu was taken aback for a moment before replying, "He'll be staying behind with me to protect the main group."

"He's just chickening out," Zhao Kun San muttered suddenly.

Under the pressure of a Blood Alert, Zhao Kun San's courage seemed to grow instead.

His voice wasn't particularly loud, but Zhou Haoyu, Principal Zhu, and several teachers all heard it clearly.

Principal Zhu's expression changed slightly. He knew very well that Zhou Haoyu's strength was definitely not the reason he stayed behind.

If those words angered Zhou Haoyu and made him leave, who knew how many students would die on the way?

Zhou Haoyu gave Zhao Kun San a glance, then suddenly took a few steps forward.

Seeing Zhou Haoyu approaching, Zhao Kun San was startled.

Is this guy going to lash out at him in a rage?

In front of everyone, Zhou Haoyu didn't attack Zhao Kun San. Instead, he swiftly traced out a Star path.

"Dimensional Summon!"

Zhou Haoyu didn't waste words. He immediately opened the Dimensional Gate.

The sudden appearance of the Dimensional Gate startled the surrounding students, and they all took several steps back in alarm.

"Summoning Element!"

Principal Zhu was shocked he hadn't expected Zhou Haoyu to be a Summoner as well.

In the next moment, the Flame Scorpion Tiger swaggered out of the Dimensional Gate, its fierce and imposing form and the cold glint on its scorpion tail making everyone's hearts pound.

Zhao Kun San, who was the closest, was so frightened he collapsed onto the ground, his layers of fat trembling uncontrollably.

"Don't worry, this is my summoned beast. It won't hurt you."

Zhou Haoyu first calmed the crowd, then turned to Xue Musheng and said, "Though I can't go with you, I can have it protect your safety."

Xue Musheng and the others looked stunned. Let this beast protect them?

Mo Fan, Mu Bai, and the others had at least seen Ghost Wolf Beasts before, so they had some understanding of summoned beasts.

But compared to the beast before them, the Ghost Wolf Beast was like a child's toy—it was not even in the same league.

"This summoned beast… is actually at Warrior-level, and its bloodline is extremely high," Principal Zhu said with a trembling voice.

The moment he said this, everyone else's eyes bulged, their jaws nearly hitting the ground.

Zhou Haoyu actually had a Warrior-level summoned beast!

Zhang Xiaohou nudged Mo Fan with his elbow, eyes full of envy, and said, "This summoned beast is way too badass. What do you think, Brother Fan?"

"It's definitely cool."

Mo Fan nodded. If he ever awakened the Summoning Element in the future, he'd also want a summoned beast this fierce.

At this point, all the teachers now believed what Principal Zhu had said earlier—Zhou Haoyu truly had the strength to deal with Bone Spike Brute Wolves.

"With Young Master Zhou's summoned beast protecting them, there shouldn't be much danger."

Principal Zhu cast a grateful look toward Zhou Haoyu he really was Tianlan High School's great benefactor.

At this moment, homeroom teacher Xue Musheng suddenly said, "Will this summoned beast go berserk like the Ghost Wolf Beast did?"

The Ghost Wolf Beast was already terrifying enough this beast surpassed it by an entire level.

As soon as he said that, Mo Fan, Zhang Xiaohou, and the others couldn't help but grow concerned as well.

If this summoned beast lost control like the Ghost Wolf Beast did, none of them would survive.

"I've never heard of a summoned beast attacking humans," Zhou Haoyu raised his eyebrows slightly.

"Well, here's the situation during last year's practical assessment, an instructor's summoned beast went berserk. It nearly caused a disaster," Xue Musheng explained.

"Heh, there are only two reasons a summoned beast would attack humans. One, the Summoner deliberately ordered it to. Two, the Summoner is just trash their spiritual imprint is way too weak," Zhou Haoyu said indifferently.

Summoned beasts weren't like undead, which were notoriously difficult to control. The Ghost Wolf Beast attacking students was entirely because Bai Yang had ordered it to.

Zhan Kong was just a fool. Coming from an ancestral family and still believing Bai Yang's nonsense.

Beast taming levels were ranked by seven stars. Normally, beasts that reached six-star would no longer hurt people. But summoned beasts had the highest standard seven stars!

After hearing Zhou Haoyu's blunt words, everyone couldn't help but twitch at the corners of their mouths. Wasn't he just outright calling Instructor Bai Yang trash?

"Ahem… Teacher Xue, go ahead and prepare to lead the vanguard squad. Time is of the essence."

Principal Zhu didn't want to pursue Bai Yang's responsibility. The top priority now was getting the students safely to the Safe Zone.
