Besides him in court?
Kayden was already dreading it. He wasn't in the mood for any scrutiny, let alone the accusing gazes of those self-righteous royals who thought the world revolved around them. Their childish tantrums weren't on today's agenda—not when he had a growing pile of mysteries begging to be solved within the palace walls.
And now, yet another mystery had been added to that long list.
"Aren't you coming, Kay?" Stephen's soft voice pulled him from thought, his cute face peeking at him with curiosity. Kayden was supposed to be there, yes—because whatever was discussed in that courtroom could prove useful. Besides, there was the matter of the corpses—he might need a fresh look at them for future reference.
"Well… I can't go there looking like this, Steve!!" Kayden drawled, folding his arms. Stephen's lips curled into a charming smile—one of those that could melt stone—and deep down, Kayden knew the man would eventually convince him otherwise.
