In as much as the kiss was probably one of the most blissful moments Kayden had ever experienced, he was also the one who cut it off.
He gasped, trying to steady his breath. Everything was spiraling—too fast, too intense. And Kayden didn't do well with things he couldn't control. This... this was just too good to be true.
"I need a minute..." he muttered, scrambling to his feet.
Stephen, on the other hand, just stared at him, heart thudding in his chest. Perhaps it was the fear of losing Kayden—or the overwhelming relief of seeing him safe—that had driven him to kiss him in the first place, even if it had started as an accident.
And despite how guilty he might've looked, he wasn't sorry for kissing him. Not one bit.
"Sorry about that. Was I too fast?" Stephen asked, a touch too shameless, clearly clueless about why Kayden was acting so flustered.
