A hand curled around my arm and fear slicked through me. Terrified, I whirled around, a scream rising in my throat.
"Lita!" I gasped, clutching my chest. "It's just you."
"Mistress," Lita exclaimed, her eyes wide with alarm. "Are you okay?"
Clutching the railing of the balcony, I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart. For a moment, I had thought the assassin had come back to finish his work. I still had issues with forgetting that night I almost lost my life.
"I'm fine, Lita," I assured the frightened girl, forcing a smile. "You startled me, that's all."
"I'm sorry, mistress. I called you but you looked like you were lost in thought, so I touched you to get your attention."
"That's quite all right. You're right though, I was thinking about something. So, what did you need?"
"The Alphas are ready," Lita replied. "It's time."
