"Mistress, was it you?"
Stopping by the door, I stared at Lita, who was looking back at me with a puzzled expression.
I tried to make sense of her question, but couldn't, so I asked, "What do you mean?"
"I thought I saw someone coming out of your room a while ago, and now you're returning… so I was wondering if you were the one I saw."
Lita looked a little anxious, so I smiled reassuringly at her.
"There's no need to look so worried," I told her. "I've been around, and maybe one of the maids came into my room to clean. Perhaps she was the one you saw leaving."
Her worried expression cleared, and after making sure I didn't need anything else, she left. I entered my room.
