Chapter 167 - The Lightning Toothpick

For Leon, the information he had was very limited. He did not know how Constantine had found out he was human. He did not know where to start putting the pieces together.

It was like being given a few broken pieces of a story and a riddle-like ending, then being asked to figure out the whole plot perfectly. No matter how smart Leon was, this was an impossible task.

On the other hand, Rossweise had thought about the one-year agreement with Tiger and how Constantine had started acting up about a year ago. But she could not clearly connect these two events with a single thread.

Adding too many useless clues and guesses would only make their thinking heavier. Rossweise decided to sort things out on her own first before talking with Leon.

Leon, meanwhile, did not think too much about this unsolvable mystery. Sure, he liked to think and research, but he was not one to dwell on Constantine's mysterious behavior. If he had known this would happen, he would have kept Constantine barely alive to ask a few questions before finishing him off. But since things had already reached this point, he might as well move on.

Leon sighed and turned to look at Rossweise. "What is for dinner?"

The queen was startled. "Jumping straight from your human identity being exposed to dinner plans—is not that a big leap?"

"Man cannot live on thoughts alone. Food gives us the strength to solve riddles, does not it?" Leon said righteously.

"Besides, I have not eaten for over ten hours since we killed Constantine early yesterday morning. Is this how you Silver Dragons treat your savior?"

Rossweise rolled her eyes at him.

Alright, alright, you have merit, you worked hard. This queen knows right from wrong and will not argue with you.

"What do you want to eat?"

"Dragon meat."

Rossweise was speechless. She knew Leon was trying to provoke her on purpose.

During the ten months of her pregnancy, this scoundrel had held himself back, diligently playing the role of a responsible "husband," trying his best to meet all of Rossweise's needs. He almost never argued with her.

Now that their little daughter was born safely, he was finally free to speak his mind.

But even though they had not bickered for so long, Rossweise had not lost her sharp tongue. She calmly replied, "Heh… Constantine was so big, he should last you a year. Go ahead."

"I do not eat dead meat."

"Oh, now you are picky."

Annoyed, Rossweise shoved her tail right up to Leon's mouth.

"Here is some live dragon meat. Go ahead, eat it. Eat it! Why are you not—ah!!! You jerk, you actually bit me?!"

"You put it right in front of my mouth. Would it not be rude not to take a bite?"

"Cosmodeous!!! I am going to kill you!!!"

Their second baby watched with wide eyes, thinking: Amazing, just born and already seeing such a great show. Worth the ticket price.

A few days later in the morning, the weather was clear. Rossweise decided to take her little daughter out to enjoy the sunshine.

Compared to human babies, dragon hatchlings could adapt to their environment better. Even though she was just born, she could still be taken out for a walk to get some fresh air.

This was the little one's first time leaving Rossweise's bedroom. Her big eyes were full of curiosity about this new world.

The couple arrived at a bench in the backyard and sat down side by side. Their little daughter lay back on Rossweise's lap. Her soft little hand played gently with Rossweise's hair. Her lively eyes looked at her mom, then at her dad, before letting out a baby coo.

Leon could not understand baby talk, but judging by their second baby's expression, she seemed pretty happy?

"By the way, how long until she starts talking?" Leon asked.

"Dragon hatchlings can start talking after about two months," Rossweise said. She paused, then added, "Noah called me 'mommy' when she was about a month old."

What a precocious princess, acting like a queen at just over a month old, huh?

Rossweise held her little daughter and looked up at Leon. "What about human babies? How long until they talk?"

"The books say eight to twelve months."

The reason it was "the books say" was because Leon had never raised a human baby from scratch. He could only rely on popular science books.

Rossweise smirked triumphantly. "Humans are so dumb. What about you? You are such a genius, did you start talking right after birth?"

To this mother dragon's teasing, Leon retorted confidently, "Wrong, I started slaying dragons right after birth."

"Tch, idiot."

As they bantered, they heard hurried little footsteps nearby. The couple looked over and saw Noah and Muen.

"Good morning, Mommy and Daddy."

"Good morning, Daddy! Good morning, Mommy!"

After greeting them, Muen agilely jumped onto Leon's legs with a "dragon leg kick."

She was Daddy's little cotton-padded jacket, and Daddy was her real leather seat. The father and daughter duo were all about keeping each other warm.

Noah, on the other hand, moved closer to Rossweise to look at her new little sister. The baby could already open her eyes. They were a light pink color, quite different from Mommy, Daddy, Muen, and even Noah herself. It seemed Auntie's genes were indeed strong. With Mom and Dad arguing over names, Auntie had gotten a bargain.

"By the way, Daddy, Mommy, have you decided on a name for the little sister?" Noah asked.

Rossweise shook her head. "Not yet. It is not urgent. Your and Muen's names were decided over a month after you were born."

Noah nodded lightly. "Oh."

After chatting about the baby for a bit, Noah also sat on the bench, next to Leon. "Daddy, I have already mastered the Thunder Thrust you taught me last winter break. I want to learn something else."

Learning magic was not simple. It often took three to five years to master one type.

Moreover, Noah was just over two years old. It was not something you could just "power through." Talent was equally important.

She probably brought this up because she had seen what Daddy looked like at his peak during Constantine's invasion a few days ago.

With Thunder Thrust in both hands, he moved through the enemy like they were not even there. Just calling him "cool" was not enough. So, since Daddy was already so cool, teaching her one more move would make him even cooler!

"So Noah, what else would you like to learn?" Leon asked.

"Well… the last move you used to defeat Constantine a few days ago," Noah paused, thinking of a good description. "The Hand-Rubbed Holy Sword!"

Leon thought about it—Hand-Rubbed Holy Sword? Oh, his eldest daughter must mean "Thunder Sword."

This move was not too hard to learn. It was only a B-level spell in the human system. All you needed was a good grasp of condensing and shaping thunder elements. The final effect depended entirely on the user's own strength.

For example, in the hands of an average person, this B-level magic might just be a temporary weapon. But in Leon's hands, its power was enough to kill the Crimson Flame Dragon King. Since his obedient daughter wanted to learn it, there was no problem.

However, the issue was… that night, to quickly take down Constantine, Leon had used up all the magic he had saved over the past months.

These days, he had been busy taking care of his little daughter and had no time to refine and store magic power. After a slight hesitation, Leon thought it might be better to teach Noah this move in a few days.

But just as he was about to speak, Rossweise beside him said, "Noah, Daddy has been very tired these days. How about we wait a little longer before he teaches you?"

Noah blinked, showing her understanding. "Okay, Daddy's health is the most important."

Leon looked a little surprised at the mother dragon. Was the sun rising from the west today? She was actually speaking up for him?

But before Leon could feel touched, Rossweise continued, "However, Daddy can give you a demonstration, right, dear?" She looked at Leon, her eyes full of playful meaning.

Leon squinted at her, annoyed. How did this mother dragon always seem to know something? But Leon was sure he had never told Rossweise about his trouble condensing magic. Ugh, why do you dragons always say things I cannot understand?

"Really? Daddy, demonstrating it would be great!" Noah's eyes sparkled.

"Yay! Muen wants to see Daddy's Hand-Rubbed Holy Sword too! So cool!" Muen joined in, excited.

Rossweise smiled slyly at Leon. "Both daughters want to see it, dear. Just give them a little demonstration."

Leon felt like he was in a tough spot. The mother dragon had pushed him into a corner, so he had no choice but to try. He just hoped it would not be too embarrassing.

"Okay, Daddy will demonstrate it for you."

With that, Leon stood up, took a step back, and put his hands together, channeling his magic. Threads of electricity flickered between his palms.

Slowly, he opened his hands. A flash of lightning condensed into the shape of a sword in his palm—the B-level Thunder Sword Transformation.

With a low grunt, Leon passed the formed lightning sword to Noah. "There you go, for you."

Noah stared at the lightning sword in front of her and could not help but swallow. "Daddy, I wanted a lightning sword, not a toothpick."

Yes, after using up his magic, our great dragon slayer, Cosmodeous, had quickly fallen from the level of killing Constantine with one sword to sweating over making a "lightning toothpick."

Noah awkwardly took the lightning toothpick and looked at it carefully in front of her little nose, trying to see the details. But it was even smaller than a spark from her Thunder Thrust, barely visible!

Leon cleared his throat awkwardly, about to explain.

But Rossweise beat him to it again. The queen stood up, placing the little baby on the bench. Then she walked over to Leon, her right hand gently resting on his arm. With a tender look in her eyes, she softly said, "It is okay, dear."

Leon pressed his lips together, watching her mouth cautiously. Experience told him that whatever this mother dragon said next would be explosive.

"Even the small ones are cute, you know~"

Cursed mother dragon, one day I will show you what 'big' really means!
