Chapter 165 - A Dream Since Childhood

Leon's brain was working at full speed, trying to come up with various excuses. But even after thinking until his head felt hot, he still could not find a perfect reason for why a "weak male dragon who married into the Silver Dragon family" could kill the Crimson Flame Dragon King, Constantine.

He nervously pinched his trousers, his palms sweating. To be honest, he had not been this nervous even during his first battle. In a way, the Elder Sister was more terrifying than Constantine.

The secret of the fake family he and Rossweise had created could not be known by a third person. His identity, his past, his history with Rossweise—if any of it came out, it would be a fatal blow to this "dragon" family.

Leon would not let his guard down just because Isha was Rossweise's sister. Precisely because they were sisters, if Isha found out her sister had married a human, started a family, and had three daughters, Leon could not be sure that Isha, as a pure-blooded dragon, would accept it.

He had no bargaining chips to make this bet. If he won, everyone would be happy. But if he lost… where would his daughters go?

How would they see their father? How would they accept that they were not pure-blooded dragons? Would they face doubt and scorn in the future?

These were all unknowns. Being as careful as he was, Leon could not make a reckless move.

"What is wrong, Brother-in-law? Is that question too hard to answer?"

Isha smiled, but her eyes were careful and searching. "It is just a simple self-introduction."

It was no surprise that Isha was suspicious. It had been three years, and all she knew about her brother-in-law came from her sister. She knew nothing about his past or his experiences.

She did not doubt Leon's feelings for her sister. Their affection for each other was clear to everyone. Whenever the couple looked at each other, their eyes were full of love, so sweet it was almost sickening.

Isha did not know if they realized it, but she had seen enough of their displays of affection.

The reason she kept pressing Leon was for her own peace of mind. At most, her brother-in-law was hiding his true race to avoid enemies (a common thing for dragons), or for some other reason, he had quietly married Rossweise. But whatever the reason, as Rossweise's sister, she felt she had a right to know some details.

Leon sat on the edge of the bed, feeling very uncomfortable. Every part of him felt nervous. He secretly glanced at Rossweise lying beside him. She had the blanket pulled up to her nose, only her pair of beautiful silver eyes showing.

Her eyes blinked at Leon. Her left eye seemed to say "innocent" and her right eye "clueless."

For heaven's sake, she is still acting cute!

Like before, the couple started their silent conversation with their eyes.

Leon: Where are my teammates? Help, someone help!

Rossweise: 😶

Leon: Dear Wife, why are you just watching?

Rossweise: Sorry, I cannot help. I have never been able to win against my sister. You are on your own!

Leon: Well, if that is how it is, I might as well go all out.

Rossweise: ? Stupid Leon, what are you planning?

Leon: Killing one dragon is killing, killing two is just a bonus. Today, I will make it up to my sister—I will just—

Rossweise: Stop joking, idiot! You have five seconds to think of a reason. If you take longer, my sister will think you have bad intentions toward my Silver Dragon clan.

Leon: She is not wrong to think that. Three years ago, I did have bad intentions toward your Silver Dragon clan…

Rossweise: …

She covered her face with the blanket again.

"Brother-in-law, my patience is limited—"

"Actually!" Leon suddenly sat up straight, puffing out his chest.

Isha crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Actually?"

"Actually… I have had a dream since I was little." Leon spoke with passion, his face full of 'faith.'

Isha blinked. "No, no, Brother-in-law, I do not want to know about your dream. I was asking—"

"I dreamt that when I grew up, I would meet a special person." Hearing this, Rossweise quietly peeked out from under the blanket, curious about what story Leon would tell. Isha uncrossed her arms and put one hand on her chin, the other on her hip.

This brother-in-law of hers… How many tricks did he have up his sleeve?

"We would meet in a special place and get to know each other in a special way."

"We would not plan our future too much. Everything would happen naturally. We would wait for all the surprises and unexpected things in our quiet life."

"I want a beautiful married life with her, with no one to disturb us."

"To make this dream come true, I traveled all over the dragon clan. I crossed mountains and rivers."

"Just when I was losing hope in the darkness, I met her."

As Leon rambled on, lost in his own story, he looked down at Rossweise. His eyes were full of deep affection.

"My destiny, my eternal love, Rossweise."

"You are the one who saved me from the darkness. You are the one who made me feel the warmth of home."

"I swear, I will protect you for my whole life."

"If anyone dares to hurt you, I will personally send them to hell. Even someone as strong as Constantine is no exception."

Meanwhile, the queen was thinking: I have already given birth to our youngest daughter, so why do I still feel like throwing up…

The couple looked into each other's eyes.

Leon's eyes were deep and full of loving devotion. The queen was disgusted but had to play along.

Clap—clap—clap—

Isha clapped slowly. "So touching, so loving. What a destined love story."

Leon secretly let out a sigh of relief.

He did not expect his made-up story to actually work on Isha. He probably had his prenatal education plan from the past ten months to thank for that.

To make sure his precious daughter would learn human culture, he had practiced reciting poetry for a long time! Ah, the many skills you pick up in life!

But before Leon could completely relax, he saw Isha drop her fake moved expression and say coldly, "But you still have not answered my question, Brother-in-law. I do not want to know how you fell in love with my sister. I want to know about your background."

Leon's eyes moved around as he tried to find the right words. "Sis, actually, my answer was in the story I just told. To protect Rossweise, to keep my promise, I desperately searched for strength. I went through hardships that only I know."

He sighed and patted Rossweise's hand. He continued seriously, "But all the pain was worth it. At least today, I really saved my wife and daughter. Right, sis?"

Isha clicked her tongue softly. Her brother-in-law had said a lot, but it seemed like he had said nothing at all…

Should she keep pressing? Would it seem too rude?

"Sis, Leon is really devoted to this family. He would not hide anything from me. I know him well," Rossweise added at the right time.

Isha sighed inside.

"Alright. Even though I still do not understand how you killed Constantine, seeing how well you get along, I might have worried too much." Isha looked at Leon. "But at least you are really keeping your promise."

Leon smiled. "A man should never break his word."

Rossweise looked up and silently watched this idiot who always talked about how a man should be, while also holding the title of the strongest dragon slayer. He had some childish and naive sides that did not quite match his honor, but it was harmless.

But it was fine. In fact, it was these little flaws that made Rossweise feel the man she lived with every day was a real "person," not some perfect character made up by a biased creator.

The queen slowly closed her eyes. She listened to Leon and Isha chatting about their youngest daughter.

The tiredness and weakness from giving birth soon took over her body and mind.

Before she fell asleep, the silver-haired beauty allowed a slight smile to touch her lips.

It really was a morning worth remembering.
