Iris and Long Chen, together with the remaining candidates settled down at the residence that was prepared for them. The next test was in seven days time and it had been three days since Iris and Long Chen had been in their respective rooms cultivating. Long Chen felt like he was about to advance to the yellow spirit so he decided to strengthen his body using the pills Iris bought for him.
On the other hand, Iris had already accumulated lots of qi but her current pills were too weak to help her breakthrough so, she decided to check the pharmacies in the city. She wore a simple sky blue dress and a silver cloke and entered into town. She could feel the gazes of people around her but choose to ignore them as she had always been used to it as she received a lot in her previous life as the rich heiress of the Bane Enterprise. She still had a few gold coins left and she believed she could buy pills with them.
Iris kept walking and would occasionally hear people talk in hushed tones.
"She's so pretty" someone said.
"She must be among the candidates for the test" another said.
"Does she think she'll pass the test just because she's pretty?" Someone said enviously.
"Hey you!!" Someone suddenly yelled at Iris from behind but as always, Iris ignored it.
"You little slut! How dare you come here trying to seduce the officials with your pretty face when you have no talent at all!" A girl about the age of twenty four yelled at Iris. Iris finally turned and stared at her icilly.
"You dare to look down on me?! I'll show you what real talent is!" She yelled and pulled out her whip and immediately, she was covered in a brilliant yellow glow!
"A twenty something years old yellow spirit!" Someone said in excitement.
"That's quite a talent" another commented.
"The other girl looks no less than Seventeen or sixteen years old" someone said.
"I heard that she's from winterwood village at the outer part" someone said with evident disapproval.
"She's just a young girl. There's no way She'll be above a red spirit at her age" Someone commented with disinterest.
The girl or rather lady, flung her whip towards Iris's face. She wanted to destroy that pretty face! and all of this was witnessed by the first and third son of the city Lord.
Iris could feel the oppressive force coming from the whip targeted at her and she felt her accumulated qi stir like boiling water and kept banging at the barrier blocking her from breaking through. People seeing that Iris was not moving , thought she was scared silly and could not move.
"Tsk such a weakling. Why'd she even come here when she has sure little courage. She didn't even put up a fight" The eldest son of the city Lord said to his younger brother Song Lin.
"Such a pity, her face would be destroyed. I am also at the yellow spirit middle level and although, that lady is just at the beginning level, she released hundred percent of her qi into that attack" Song Lin said and shook his head.
But something surprising happened! Before the whip could touch iris's face, Iris had a breakthrough!!. Her body was covered in a more brilliant yellow glow than her attacker. And her breakthrough, shattered the whip the was only a hair distance away from her face.
"Oh my God! She just broke through!" Someone shouted.
"A sixteen years old yellow spirit!" Someone shouted again
"That's not just a yellow spirit! She broke through to the middle level of the yellow spirit!" Another revealed.
"She actually skipped a whole level!. She's now stronger than her attacker! What a twist of fate!"
"It's Time for retribution" Iris said to the dumbstruck lady and moved in a blur immediately severing the lady's meridians turning her into a waste!. Even the third young master Song Lin, who was also at the middle level of the yellow spirit could not keep up with Iris's strange movements. Being an assassin had it's own benefits. After dealing with the lady, Iris said.
"Now you have become a waste. You can never bully the weak again! I stand on behalf of the heavens to give justice to the broken souls you have once bullied." And as if the heavens agreed to what Iris said, a bolt of lightening flashed behind her as if to back her claim and this stunned the people around. After saying this, Iris turned around and walked away going back to her residence since she already made the breakthrough. she needed to just consolidate her qi and as for the pills, they could wait till another time.
"Find out everything about that girl. I must rope her in" Song Lin said to his attendant who immediately left to carry out his young master's order.
"She has the backing of the heavens?" The eldest young master asked.
"Of course not! It was just a coincidence! But her powers, will be of great use to me" Song Lin said with a calculated look on his face.
