I arrive at the accountant's office, my heart thudding erratically. If I can prove my innocence here, then all this drama will be over.
I knock gently on his door, my heart beating with so much anticipation.
"Come in please."
I open the door at his words, and go inside. Mr. Grayson is sitting, staring into space.
"Hello Mr. Grayson," I greet politely.
He looks in my direction, and arches a brow, "Miss Sanders? How may I help you?"
"Sir, I'm sure you have heard of the rumours flying about? That I embezzled money?"
His face goes blank, "Yes?"
"I know you're the only one who can prove my innocence. Please help me get out of this."
He furrows his brows, "That's not possible. I can't help you. You literally stole money from the company."
My jaw drops. He thinks I'm a fraud too? What the fuck?
"You're literally the accountant? You know I don't have permission to the company's account!"
He shakes his head, and hands me a piece of paper, "Explain that."
