Chapter 256 - Chapter 255: How Could I Possibly Come Unprepared?

Chapter 255: How Could I Possibly Come Unprepared?

"The Xiao Clan… and the Spirit Clan?"

The Golden Crow Prince and the others brightened instantly.

Although they were of the spirit race, they were well aware of the great powers among the humans. Across the whole world, the Spirit Clan might not rank among the very top—but the Xiao Clan absolutely did.

At least, on the surface.

After all, some ancient forces or forbidden zones were so shrouded in mystery that no one could say for sure what terrifying beings might exist within them.

"It seems the events that took place in the Great Strength Divine Demon Sect back then have finally stirred even the Xiao Clan and the Spirit Clan into action," the Golden Crow Fourth Prince mused inwardly.

That day, when Li Xun exposed the truth within the Great Strength Divine Demon Sect's small world, the revelation was too shocking. Perhaps it hadn't shaken the entire world, but across the Desolate Ancient Continent, it had indeed caused a massive storm.

The next successor of the exalted Xiao Clan—a "heaven's chosen" blessed with the Immortal Body—was revealed to be a manufactured prodigy.

The so-called Immortal Body he possessed had actually been taken from his own cousin.

This revelation became an indelible stain on Xiao Chen's name, and by extension, on the Xiao Clan itself.

As long as Xiao Fan lived, he would serve as a living reminder to all that half of Xiao Chen's brilliance came from him.

But to kill Xiao Fan, Li Xun was a mountain they could not bypass.

"If the Xiao Clan and the Spirit Clan are both willing to lend their strength," the Fourth Prince said with a smile, "then Li Xun's end is indeed near."

"Li Xun's sharpness has gone unchecked for too long. Such arrogance is bound to bring disaster sooner or later," a Star-Moon Divine Sect elder said coldly.

"Throughout history, there have been countless geniuses born with the Scarlet Flame Divine Body. But how many truly lived long enough to reach the peak? One more or one less like him—what difference does it make?"

This elder's name was Wei Xian, the younger brother of Wei Qiong.

The two had grown up together, later entering the Star-Moon Divine Sect side by side. Their bond had been deep.

Now that Wei Qiong had fallen to Li Xun, Wei Xian had long been waiting for his chance at revenge—and at last, it had come.

The Star-Moon Divine Sect, the Sea God Palace, the Golden Crow Clan, the Xiao Clan, and the Spirit Clan—five mighty forces united.

With such careful preparation and overwhelming strength, how could Li Xun possibly escape alive?

"This isn't the place to discuss details," said Panzhong of the Sea God Palace.

"Let's set out first. The Xiao and Spirit Clan representatives are already at the Crape Myrtle Holy Land. We should head there as soon as possible."

"Agreed."

Wei Xian nodded.

The group turned into streaks of divine light and shot into the heavens, vanishing in moments.

—Two months later—

Beyond the borders of the Crape Myrtle Holy Land, a magnificent golden chariot sped through the clouds, spanning over a thousand meters like a mobile palace.

It streaked across the sky like a blazing meteor, its brilliance dazzling.

At the very front stood a youth clad in violet robes, hands clasped behind his back.

His hair fluttered wildly, his robes billowed in the wind—he looked every bit like a young Immortal King, a peerless sovereign standing proudly between heaven and earth.

"Up ahead lies the territory of the Crape Myrtle Holy Land," said the man behind him.

It was the Yin-Yang Holy Son, dressed in black and white robes, his demeanor refined and noble.

He glanced at Li Xun's back thoughtfully before speaking again:

"Brother Li, this Demon-Sealing Conference may not be as simple as it seems."

"You mean the Golden Crow Clan and the other factions like the Star-Moon Divine Sect?"

Li Xun asked calmly, his expression unreadable.

"It seems Brother Li already knows, then."

The Yin-Yang Holy Son nodded slightly, his tone calm yet edged with concern.

"You've crossed paths with quite a few of them before. I'm worried they might take advantage of the Demon-Sealing Conference to make a move against you."

"And besides…"

He trailed off mid-sentence, glancing toward the golden chariot behind them.

Inside sat a slender, graceful figure in quiet meditation.

Divine light shrouded her form, her aura vast and unfathomable—like an ancient sea, endless and deep. There was something wild and primordial about that power, an ancient, majestic resonance that made one feel as though an Immortal King of antiquity had descended into the mortal world.

It was none other than Lu Qingxian.

She had chosen to accompany Li Xun to the Demon-Sealing Conference, intending to broaden her horizons.

Were it not for Lu Qingxian, Li Xun's journey might have been far less troublesome. But with her presence, the situation became infinitely more complicated.

Many wouldn't dare to provoke Li Xun directly, but they absolutely would target Lu Qingxian.

After all, the Dao Source Immortal Metal in her possession was far too precious.

Over the past two months, word had spread—terrifyingly fast—that Lu Qingxian, a woman once known as a crippled cultivator, now carried the legendary Dao Source Immortal Metal.

Such a rumor couldn't possibly have spread on its own.

It was hard not to suspect that some hidden hand was deliberately pushing the news, orchestrating the entire situation from the shadows.

Now, countless powers were stirring restlessly, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

"With only Brother Li's strength alone," the Yin-Yang Holy Son continued softly, "it may be difficult to handle what's coming. Other factions might lend you aid, but distant water can't put out a nearby fire—and they can't stay by your side forever."

"If you're ever caught alone… things could turn dire."

He paused, then added in a low, sincere tone:

"Brother Li, you don't have to risk yourself for the sake of others. There's no need to walk into danger willingly."

Li Xun smiled faintly. "It's fine."

He glanced over his shoulder, eyes calm as still water.

"All that you've said—I already knew. Since they intend to move against me…" His gaze hardened slightly, a subtle, chilling edge flickering in his voice.

"…how could I possibly come unprepared?"

The "Adult True Phoenix" that Li Xun had once obtained from his system reward—after more than a year, he could now faintly sense its presence.

It seemed that this True Phoenix had not been within the Desolate Ancient Continent before.

Now, it was crossing the void toward this world.

Even if it hadn't arrived yet, it likely wasn't far away.

Once that True Phoenix descended, Li Xun believed that even if the Golden Crow Clan, the Sea God Palace, and the other factions united, they would still be powerless against him.

The only one that gave him pause was the Xiao Clan's Quasi-Emperor.

That figure had been famous for countless years. Judging from his lifespan, he was likely already near the end of it—still alive, perhaps, but only barely holding on.

In such a state, that Quasi-Emperor would never act lightly.

Every time he did, it would further consume his dwindling life force.

With that in mind, Li Xun was confident that as long as he avoided stepping directly into the Xiao Clan's heartland, then armed with the Adult True Phoenix, he could walk unhindered across the land.

And as for the likes of the Golden Crow Clan?

If they truly dared to plot against him, they wouldn't send Saints—only Divine Palace realm cultivators.

And those, Li Xun no longer even considered a threat.

"Oh?"

The Yin-Yang Holy Son's eyes brightened slightly at Li Xun's words.

"So Brother Li already has a plan in place. It seems I was worrying too much."
