Chapter 92 - : A Name Carved in Fire

Chapter 93

Kael sat at the base of the fig tree, chest heaving, hand over his heart.

He wasn't dying.

But it felt like something was being rewritten.

Like his soul had been carved open…

…and someone else was filling in the empty spaces.

Eliendara pressed her palm against his back, channeling warmth, calm, light.

But even her power couldn't erase the sensation that gripped him.

"Kael," she whispered, "what did they do to you?"

He looked up, face pale.

"They didn't curse me.They named me."

In the graveyard of forgotten names, the flame-child stood motionless.

The stone that now bore Kael's name glowed with silver fire.

And from beneath it, roots hissed.

The fig tree's magic reached across the land like a nervous pulse.

But the fire wasn't afraid of roots.

It was born from what came before them.

Elsewhere, the child of hope stirred again.

They sat up in the cradle for the first time.

Eyes wide. Blue light in their pupils.

Their first words whispered like wind:

"He's cold."

Eliendara froze.

"Who, little one?"

The child looked east.

"The boy in the black fire."

Kael stood now, shaky but resolute.

His voice clearer.

"I need to go to him."

Eliendara's grip tightened. "You don't even know who he is."

Kael's eyes glinted with sorrow.

"That's the problem.He knows me."

In the hills, the forgotten flame knelt again, whispering into the dirt.

Words older than any tongue.

Not spells. Not curses.

Promises.

"I was supposed to burn at your side. But you left me behind. You lived a life meant for two."

They stood, silver-black fire curling around their shoulders like a cloak.

"Now I'll take back your name."

The wind changed.

And for the first time in decades…

Kael felt fear.

Not for himself.

But for the one he might have doomed without ever knowing they existed.
