Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: A-Rank Miltank Milk and A+ Pasture Dumplings: A Dual Culinary Effect

A-Rank Miltank Milk

Milk from a Champion-tier Miltank. Exceptionally rich in nutrients. When consumed regularly by newly hatched Pokémon, it enhances resistance to abnormal status conditions.

This was the Moomoo Milk Lin Feng had brought back from Ye Mu.

What surprised him most was that the milk had been rated A-Rank!

"My dad sure had some impressive friends."

Murmuring to himself, Lin Feng didn't head straight home. Instead, he caught a cab to the Vileplume Food Co., Ltd.

Thanks to calling ahead, the security guards at the gate didn't stop him.

Inside the office, Michael Zhang stood up the moment he saw Lin Feng walk in, greeting him with a smile.

"You came in person? I thought the delivery wasn't due until tomorrow."

Over the past few days, with the special fruits and vegetables Lin Feng had been supplying, Vileplume Co.'s markets and supermarkets had seen a massive resurgence in customer traffic.

The only downside was the limited supply. It was strictly rationed. But if that problem could be solved, Michael was confident that he could corner the entire fruit and vegetable market in Wutong City and turn his company into a regional powerhouse.

Lin Feng scratched his head sheepishly and pulled out a Poké Ball. "I happened to be in the city today, so I thought I'd drop off what I picked these last few days. Also, the watermelons are ripe now. Uncle Zhang, are you interested?"

Michael didn't even hesitate. "Absolutely! If the quality holds up, I'll buy every last one!"

"Heh, they're all guaranteed sweet."

Lin Feng then retrieved a large, perfectly round striped watermelon from his storage capsule. Glancing around, he noticed there weren't any knives in the office.

"Uh... got a knife?"

"A knife? Who needs that?"

Michael's eyes lit up at the sight of the juicy, flawless watermelon. With a grin, he clenched his fist and smashed it down hard.

Thump!

The watermelon burst open instantly, sending sweet red pulp and juice flying onto both their faces.

Without waiting, Michael pried off a chunk and took a bite. His eyes lit up.

"Delicious! So sweet and crisp. No sign of over ripeness at all. I'll buy them at 50 yuan per jin. How much do you have?"

Lin Feng wiped juice off his face, looking a little embarrassed. "A few thousand jin, I think?"

Watermelon yields were way higher than other fruits or vegetables.

That one watermelon alone had to weigh over twenty jin.

Though he'd only picked the first batch so far and hadn't even tried one himself there was plenty more to come.

Michael looked even more excited now.

Once they wrapped up the exchange of goods and payment, he couldn't help but ask,

"Xiao Feng, have you ever thought about expanding your plantation? Right now your output is way too small. If it's a manpower issue, you can always come to me."

Lin Feng paused. It was true he'd been thinking about this recently.

At first, planting fruits and vegetables was just a stopgap. But now it seemed the revenue was steady, even if not spectacular.

Just in the past few days, the produce had only brought in about eighty thousand. That wasn't bad, but it didn't compare to how directly the Pokéblocks increased his Pokémon's happiness.

The one major advantage, however, was marketing.

If he could grow his plantation into something bigger, it would help him promote his Neighbor's Breeding House, build up a brand reputation, and reach a wider audience.

But expanding alone just wasn't realistic.

Which meant… he needed to start thinking about Golden Fertilizer.

He already had nearly a thousand bags stored. Once he sold them, even if the produce grown from them wasn't quite as good as what he cultivated himself, it would still far exceed normal crops.

Still unsure, Lin Feng simply said, "I'll think about it. Uncle Zhang, actually, I came to ask you for another favor."

Michael was a little disappointed but quickly smiled. "Sure, Xiao Feng. What do you need?"

"I just bought a few Miltank and want to build a cowshed in the back of my plantation. Do you know anyone who handles that sort of work?"

"That's it? Don't worry. I'll send someone over to your plantation tomorrow," Michael waved it off like it was nothing.

...

After leaving the company, Lin Feng didn't go straight home. He swung by a local supermarket to grab a few things, then hailed a ride back.

The breeding house was already closed. As soon as he entered, he went straight to his room.

Inside, Vulpix was sleeping soundly. But Snivy was nowhere to be seen.

Lin Feng checked the plantation and, sure enough, found Snivy casting Grassy Terrain on the orchard.

"Snivy~"

(She drank a bit of milk and fell asleep, so I came to guard the plantation.)

Seeing Lin Feng, Snivy deactivated the move.

"Well done," Lin Feng praised.

The fruit trees planted a few days ago had already grown to nearly human height.

Even the Dragonfire Fruit Tree planted beside the irrigation pool had sprouted. Its tender green leaves spread like giant fans.

Lin Feng only glanced at it before turning away. He released Pidgeotto and Milotic into their usual spots around the plantation, then grabbed a sickle and began cutting grass.

"Snivy?"

Seeing this, Snivy picked up her smaller sickle with a vine whip, preparing to help.

"No need to cut too much," Lin Feng said softly. "Just gathering enough to make pasture dumplings for the Miltank."

Snivy nodded.

Together, they worked for just a couple of minutes before Lin Feng called it enough. He then carried the freshly cut grass to the kitchen inside the breeding house.

Since the cowshed wasn't built yet, the newly caught Miltank still had to stay inside their Poké Balls for now.

If he couldn't give them comfortable living quarters, the least he could do was ensure their meals were exceptional.

Green Dumplings a recipe he'd learned from his mother.

First, he shredded the grass in a berry mixer, separating it into fine pulp and juice.

He mixed flour and the shredded pulp in a 1:2 ratio, added the grass juice to form a sticky dough, then blended in a pinch of sugar before rolling it into dumplings about the size of a baby's fist.

Finally, he added a few drops of Pink Sweet Scent and a generous splash of A-rank Miltank Milk he'd gotten from Ye Mu.

While Miltank could drink their own milk, doing so also significantly replenished their stamina.

About thirty minutes later…

Dozens of dumplings, glowing with the fragrance of milk and herbs, were ready.

A+ Rank Pasture Dumplings

A hand-crafted fusion of various ingredients blended into a single gourmet dish.

Effect 1: Temporarily increases Grass-type Pokémon's move power.

Effect 2: When consumed by herbivorous Pokémon, their milk gains slight cleansing effects for status conditions. Long-term consumption enhances resistance to abnormal statuses.

A+ ranked food, and with dual effects, no less.

Lin Feng nodded in satisfaction. He tasted one himself, then handed one to Snivy, who took a bite and immediately gave a glowing review.

(≧∇≦)ノ:"Snivy~" (So tasty!~)

"Good. Save some for Vulpix later. As for the rest..."

Lin Feng loaded all the dumplings into bowls and brought them to the plantation.

He summoned the three Miltank.

"Moo~?"

The moment they appeared, they glanced around in confusion before focusing on Lin Feng.

"Moo-moo?"

Lin Feng put his hands together respectfully and held out the bowl. "Sorry that you have to stay in your Poké Balls for a few days until the cowshed is built. Here's your food!"

(〃^▽^〃)o:"Moo-moo!"

The moment they saw the dumplings, the young Miltank stopped listening entirely. Heads down, they began eating happily.

"Moo!" (Delicious!)

Congratulations! The Miltank's happiness has increased...

Hearing the system's prompt, Lin Feng finally let out a sigh of relief.

One thought passed through his mind.

I really need to get that cowshed built as soon as possible...
