"Moo-moo?!"
As soon as Lin Feng took out the fresh pasture grass, he didn't feed it to the Miltank right away. Instead, he pulled out a small bottle from his storage capsule and sprinkled a few drops of Pink Sweet Scent onto it.
In an instant, the pasture grass, which originally ranked at an E-grade, transformed into:
C-grade Fragrant Pasture Grass
The creator has added several drops of Pink Sweet Scent to this pasture grass, making its aroma significantly richer. Culinary Effect: increases its allure to herbivorous Pokémon by 30%.
"Moo-moo!!"
The moment the fragrance filled the air, the nearby Miltank's eyes grew even clearer and brighter. They let out eager cries of "Moo-moo!" one after another.
"Come with me, alright? If you come with me, you'll get to eat even tastier grass."
Lin Feng grinned like a mischievous uncle trying to lure kids with candy, eyes twinkling as he coaxed the three Miltank he'd chosen.
"Moo-moo!!" (Go… go…)
The Miltank stared fixedly at the pasture grass in Lin Feng's hand and eagerly nudged closer.
Not holding back, Lin Feng held the grass out to them. He watched as they munched it down, then turned with a slightly embarrassed look toward Ye Mu.
Ye Mu couldn't help chuckling. "So for you, this turned out to be the easiest part of all. Alright, get your Poké Balls out and take them home."
"Heh…"
Lin Feng hurriedly pulled out three Poké Balls and captured the three Miltank he'd picked.
Only then did he scratch his head and say sheepishly, "Uncle Mu, I've only got 850,000 left right now. Could you give me a few days? I'll bring another batch of pasture grass over to settle the rest of the payment."
Whether or not he had enough money, first he had to make sure he secured those Miltank.
Ye Mu burst into laughter, but nodded nonetheless.
Compared to the cash, he was far more intrigued by Lin Feng's pasture grass. "Forget the pasture grass as payment. Next time, just bring me some seeds from the grass you're cultivating. That stuff's what I'm really interested in."
"Deal!"
For Lin Feng, that was no big deal at all.
After making the payment, he couldn't help letting out a sigh.
He'd thought earning 800,000 in three days was already quite a haul.
He hadn't expected to spend it all in the blink of an eye.
So next…
Lin Feng recalled that Uncle Mu had mentioned a challenge earlier in the morning. He was debating whether to bring it up himself when Ye Mu spoke first.
"Come on. There's still that battle we talked about. Consider it a personal test of mine. Back in the day, your father stunned me with his Pokémon breeding skills. Just send out your strongest Pokémon for a quick match."
Lin Feng nodded. "Alright."
When it came to a senior testing the younger generation, he absolutely had to send out his strongest Pokémon.
Besides, ever since arriving in this world, he'd never once witnessed a proper Gym-level Trainer in action.
"Follow me."
Lin Feng trailed after him out to a patch of grass near the wooden fence.
"This will be our battlefield. Go ahead and release your Pokémon."
As he spoke, Ye Mu lifted a Poké Ball and pressed the button lightly.
A Bayleef materialized on the field.
Pokémon: Bayleef
Gender: Male
Ability: Overgrow
Potential: Purple-tier
IVs: HP (24), Attack (23), Sp. Atk (24), Defense (27), Sp. Def (24), Speed (22)
Level: 23–26
Moves: Tackle, Growl, Razor Leaf, Poison Powder, Vine Whip, Heal Pulse, Magical Leaf, Leech Seed, Reflect
A solid mid-tier Elite-level Pokémon more than enough to feel like a towering obstacle for an average rookie Trainer who had just set out on their journey.
Clearly, Ye Mu was serious about testing him.
Lin Feng didn't hesitate. He tossed out Milotic's Poké Ball.
"Yoo-yoo~?"
Under the bright sunlight, Milotic's scales shimmered brilliantly.
Although it was a Water-type Pokémon, it could still battle on land for short periods. It just couldn't move around quite as smoothly as it could in water.
"Milotic?"
Ye Mu blinked, then exclaimed, "It's been ages since I've heard of anyone in Wutong City raising a Milotic. Looks like this one evolved from a Feebas, right?"
Lin Feng replied, "Mainly thanks to using a Prism Scale."
Ye Mu shook his head. "A regular Prism Scale wouldn't produce a Milotic that looks like this. The gloss and color of this one's scales… This is the most beautiful Milotic I've ever seen. Looks like your breeding skills have already surpassed your father's."
"Let's go! Bayleef, use Razor Leaf!"
"Protect."
For Pokémon with lower speed and relatively weaker strength, the biggest factors deciding the outcome of a battle were usually energy levels and type advantages.
While Milotic was definitely stronger in energy output than Bayleef, this was still Lin Feng's first time commanding Milotic in a real fight. So as a precaution, he chose to have Milotic defend first, just in case it took damage.
Dozens of razor-sharp leaves flew from Bayleef's shaking head, slashing toward Milotic at high speed.
But before they could get close, a shimmering, pale-white barrier formed in front of Milotic.
The leaves crashed into the barrier without leaving so much as a scratch.
Immediately, Lin Feng called out another command, almost by reflex.
"Milotic, use Dragon Pulse!"
A pillar of white, almost erasing the air around it, gathered into shape with dazzling speed. In the blink of an eye, it blasted forward, crashing into Bayleef's chest just as its eyes widened in shock.
With a single strike, Bayleef was hurled backward and slammed into the ground, completely motionless.
Even Lin Feng found himself staring, eyes wide. "That strong?"
He'd never witnessed Milotic in battle before. Seeing it obliterate a mid-tier Elite-level Bayleef with a single attack left him momentarily in disbelief.
"Yoo-yoo?"
Milotic looked worriedly over at Bayleef in the distance, then turned back toward Lin Feng, lowering its head timidly, almost afraid it had done something wrong.
(;°ロ°): "Yoo… yoo…"
"It's okay, it's okay."
Lin Feng quickly soothed it, then turned his gaze toward Ye Mu. "Is Bayleef alright?"
Ye Mu's expression was a complex mix of emotions. After glancing over at Bayleef's condition, he shook his head lightly. "It's fine. Any Pokémon that steps into a battle is prepared to get hurt."
Honestly…
The moment he saw that Milotic, he'd suspected Bayleef wouldn't stand a chance.
After all, Milotic's shimmering, sleek scales alone spoke volumes, and its energy reserves were just shy of Gym-level standards.
Still, he hadn't expected Bayleef to get completely wiped out in a single blow without even a chance to respond.
Truly… he was his father's son!
Ye Mu beckoned Lin Feng over. "Come here," he said, then pulled a small barrel out of his storage capsule. "This is milk straight from my main Miltank. It's excellent nourishment for young Pokémon…"
