Chapter 11 - Missing Memories

Kevlon followed the man, seating himself on a comfortable chair across from the man's. The man leaned forward as he spoke, eager to explain.

"So," he said. "You don't remember anything? At all?"

"Nope," I replied. "Absolutely nothing."

The man leaned back and gave a slight laugh that sounded more like a snort.

"My name is Trypon, I was an assistant throughout the entire mission."

Kevlon stared back with an even more puzzled face. "Mission?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.

"Oh, that's right! You don't even know about the events that went down during the past few days, correct?"

"I am not informed, no."

"Perfect. Then let me fill you in. He leaned forward in his chair, ready to explain. "Assuming you fell asleep as soon as you left the council chamber, you've been asleep for nearly 8 days. At least, asleep to you."

Kevlon looked shocked and confused. "You see, as soon as you left, we got a call. Unlike most calls Hero Tower takes, this one was forwarded right to the council desk. I believe it was Fayre who took the call. When she picked it up, she was met with a dial tone at first. She was going to hang up, but a voice quickly came onto the line."

"Fayre, legendary hero. Correct?" it said. She glanced around at the council before hesitantly replying.

"That depends who I'm talking to," she said, keeping her cool despite the nervous tension the phone call brought.

"You don't need to worry about that," he replied.

"What do you want from me?"

"Not just you - all of you. I want to see the entire Heroes Council in front of me by the next hour." Fayre looked around nervously at the council again before responding.

"And what makes you think we'll comply?"

He chuckled. "If you don't, I'll detonate Hero Tower from the inside."

"Why should we believe you?"

He laughed once more. "Why not?" he said. It was hard to tell through the phone, but it sounded like he snapped. At that same moment, the room where Fayre and the council were sitting shook a bit, and there was a loud noise from far away.

She responded quickly, caving to his commands. "Fine. Where are we meeting you?"

"44 South Burbank Avenue, Vesta. Be there within the hour, or else."

She squinted angrily. "Who even are you, making these outrageous demands?" He laughed one final time.

"You can call me RUNE."
