A/N: I'm in a very good mood today. My family got a small loan so we can fix the roof. We can pay it off with no problems, and that's the reason why I'm in a good mood. For years our house always leaks when it rain, but it ends today. With that, I decided to put it out now.
But the downside is there will be no chapters for September. Anyways, here you go.
Night had fallen over Maiami City, but the quiet was deceptive. Beneath the glittering lights of the skyline, the weight of the day's events hung heavy, like a storm that had passed but left devastation in its wake.
In a modest apartment on the outskirts of the city—one that Ryuki, Ruri, and Rin called their temporary home—the stillness was broken only by the soft ticking of a clock and the occasional sigh of the night breeze through a cracked window.
Inside, Rin sat by Ruri's bedside. The younger Kurosaki lay fast asleep, her expression peaceful at last after hours of turmoil. The emotional storm that had raged inside her had finally exhausted her, leaving her to the refuge of sleep. Rin gently brushed a lock of hair from Ruri's face, relieved to see her friend resting.
Ryuki stood in the next room, his back to the window, the glow of the city beyond casting long shadows. He held his phone to his ear, speaking quietly.
"Ryuki, how's Ruri?" came Shun's voice on the other end—low, worried, but steady.
"She's fine, Shun. She's resting now. She cried herself to sleep," Ryuki answered, his tone calm but weary. "She needed it. All of it. To let it out."
There was a pause. Then Shun asked the question that had been gnawing at his mind. "Did she... did she get them? Our parents' cards?"
Ryuki glanced toward the small box resting on the table beside him. Inside, two Duel Monster cards lay, containing the souls of the Kurosaki siblings' mother and father. His hand tightened slightly.
"I have them here," he said. "Safe. I promise you, Shun—one day, we'll bring them back. Both of us."
A deep breath came from the other end. "Thank you... Ryuki. For everything."
For a brief moment, the connection between the two duelists—their shared pain, their shared determination—needed no words.
Ryuki then asked, "What about the situation at the Command Center?"
Shun's voice grew heavier. "Hectic. Reports came flooding in from all over. Multiple tsunamis forming around the world at once. All because of Megiddo. Reiji's going to make a public statement tomorrow to calm the panic."
Ryuki closed his eyes briefly. Megiddo's presence alone shook the planet... He knew that the power of the Zeroth Dragons was great, but this was beyond even his expectations.
"If anything else comes up, call me," Ryuki said at last.
"I will. Rest easy tonight, Ryuki."
With that, the call ended.
Ryuki placed the phone down and turned to see Rin emerging quietly from the bedroom. She looked tired, but resolved.
"How is she?" he asked.
Rin folded her arms, leaning slightly against the doorframe. "She wouldn't let go of my hand until she fell asleep. But she's resting now. I think... I think she'll be okay, at least for tonight."
Ryuki nodded, setting his duel disk on the table with a soft clatter. "Good. She deserves some peace."
Rin hesitated, then asked the question weighing on her mind. "Ryuki... should we tell Yuya and the others the truth? About Academia. About what's really happening?"
Ryuki's gaze lowered, shadowed by guilt. "I hate lying to them. I already feel like a traitor, making them believe Yusho had nothing to do with the war. But if I reveal everything now, it might shatter what little stability they have left. I'll tell them... when this phase of the tournament is over. When they're ready."
Rin accepted this with a reluctant nod, understanding the burden he carried.
Then, a soft chime came from Ryuki's duel disk.
He tapped it and read the message. His expression darkened.
"What is it?" Rin asked, worried by the sudden shift in his mood.
"Sora's missing," Ryuki said grimly. "Reiji says he recovered enough to escape the hospital. They think he's on the run. Yuto's already gone after him."
Ryuki moved to grab his coat, ready to follow, but Rin stepped in his path.
"No," she said firmly. "Stay here. Ruri needs you now more than ever."
Ryuki stared at her, conflicted. "Rin—"
"I'll go," Rin interrupted. "Let me handle this. Please."
He saw the determination in her eyes and knew there was no arguing. After a moment, he exhaled and nodded. "Be careful. Don't underestimate him. Sora's more dangerous than ever."
"I will," Rin promised, and with that, she slipped out into the night.
Maiami Hospital – Front Entrance
At the same time, not far away, three figures exited the Maiami Hospital into the cool night air.
Yuya, Yuzu, and Gongenzaka walked in thoughtful silence, their minds weighed down by their recent visit to Sora's room.
Gongenzaka clenched his fists, his voice tight with conflict. "How... how could he? Sora... a friend we fought alongside. And he... he was one of the people who attacked Ruri's home?"
Yuzu's heart ached at the pain in his voice. She too struggled with the revelation. "I don't understand... how could he admit it so easily? How could he take pride in it?"
She thought back to the news she'd seen about attacks on Fusion Duelists. One of the names that had surfaced in the reports... Kurosaki. The pieces were starting to fit together in a way she hadn't wanted them to.
"Do you think it was Ruri's brother?" she asked quietly. "The one targeting Fusion Duelists?"
Gongenzaka furrowed his brow. "But why? Why target them so relentlessly?"
Yuya answered, his voice low. "Because they were the ones who destroyed Ruri's home. I saw her face when she battled Sora. The way she looked at his monsters—like they weren't just cards. Like they were the enemy itself."
Yuzu shivered at the memory of Ruri's fury, of the storm that had erupted with Megiddo's summoning.
She shook her head, trying to change the subject, if only to ease the tension. "Yuya... when Rin summoned her Zeroth Dragon... and when Ruri did too... you said your Odd-Eyes reacted?"
Yuya blinked, caught off guard by the question. "Yeah. Both times. My Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon started glowing... like it was resonating with them. But it wasn't just that. It felt... afraid. Like it sensed something it couldn't face."
Yuzu's eyes widened slightly. "Afraid?"
"Yeah. It was like... it knew those dragons weren't just strong. They were something beyond what we're meant to control."
Gongenzaka placed a reassuring hand on Yuya's shoulder. "We'll find answers, Yuya. Ryuki will explain, when the time is right."
The trio shared a moment of silent understanding.
Just then, a nurse burst from the hospital doors, breathless and pale. "Sora! Sora's gone! He's missing from his room!"
Yuya, Yuzu, and Gongenzaka exchanged shocked glances.
"Let's split up," Yuya said without hesitation. "We'll cover more ground that way."
Without another word, they scattered into the night, the search for their lost friend beginning beneath the gaze of the moon.
-----
The night air of Maiami Central Park was thick with tension, broken only by the ragged breath of a lone figure limping between the trees. Shiun'in Sora, battered and bandaged, stumbled toward a bench beneath the dim glow of a streetlamp. His body ached with every movement—his shoulder throbbed where the wounds beneath the gauze had yet to fully heal. With a grimace, he sat heavily and began tearing off the bandages. The constriction annoyed him now; he didn't want reminders of weakness. He was tired of looking weak.
The bandages fell at his feet like discarded lies.
But peace wouldn't come.
A figure emerged from the shadows. The soft hum of a Duel Disk came alive on the stranger's arm, glowing faintly in the night.
"You..." Sora hissed, his blood boiling at the sight of the Xyz Duelist. His eyes, wild and unhinged, zeroed in on Yuto's calm, unreadable expression.
"Stand down, Sora," Yuto said quietly, seeing the madness behind the boy's eyes, the pain that had long since festered into hatred. "You're injured. There's no need for this."
But Sora's trembling fingers activated the Duel Anchor, binding Yuto to him, ensuring that refusal was no longer an option. His voice was ragged, desperate. "I don't care! Duel me! I'll never surrender to Xyz scum like you!"
The night trembled with the activation of the field.
At the Command Center, Kurosaki Shun was already moving toward the exit, intent on joining the hunt. But Akaba Reiji raised a hand, stopping him.
"Ryuki is on his way," Reiji said, though he kept his gaze fixed on the monitors. His mind worked through contingencies, already anticipating Academia's next move.
Before Shun could protest, Reiji's communicator pinged. He answered to see Rin's determined face, flushed from exertion.
"Rin?" Reiji blinked in surprise. "Why are you out there? I expected Ryuki—"
"Ruri needs him more right now," Rin interrupted, her voice steady despite the fatigue in her eyes. "I had a feeling... this is something I have to do."
Reiji regarded her for a moment, then nodded. "I'm transmitting Sora's coordinates. Yuto's already engaged him. Get there as fast as you can."
"I'm on it," Rin replied, and without another word, she sprinted through the streets, the weight of duty driving her forward.
Back at Central Park, the duel raged. Sora's movements were reckless, erratic—his strategies fueled more by vengeance than logic. And Yuto, ever the tactician, took advantage where he could, but even his victory felt hollow as his Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon destroyed Sora's Scissors Bear, sending Sora crashing to the ground.
Yuto approached, his voice soft, almost pleading. "Sora, please. This isn't the way. Surrender. You need help."
But Sora's pride, his fury, refused to yield. He staggered to his feet, blood on his lip, and spat at the ground. "Never... not to the likes of you."
And then—
Yuya arrived at the scene, breathless from the chase. His eyes widened in horror at the sight before him: Sora, bloodied and wild-eyed, facing off against a boy who could have been his reflection in another life.
"Sora?! And you! You look like me! What—what's happening?!" Yuya called out, confusion and fear warring in his voice.
But before anyone could answer, Sora's Duel Disk began to glow—bright, blinding. Sora looked at it, panic overtaking his rage. "No... no, not now! I'm not done! I have a score to settle! I don't want to go back!"
His body began to shine with the same unnatural light, the Duel Disk pulling him toward an unseen force.
"NO! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO ACADEMIA YET!" Sora's scream echoed through the park—and then, in a flash, he was gone. As if the night had swallowed him whole.
Back at the Command Center, Shun's fist slammed against the console, fury and frustration boiling over. "Damn it! He got away!"
Reiji's eyes narrowed, already calculating the next steps. "Sora was recalled. That means Academia knows he failed. It's likely they'll retaliate—and soon. We need to prepare."
Shun nodded grimly, understanding the gravity of the situation.
Meanwhile, Rin's bracelet began to glow as she ran. The light pulsed, guiding her path. Her breath caught—she knew what it meant.
The fragments of Zarc... they're converging.
She clenched her jaw, pushing herself faster toward the park.
Back at the scene, Yuya turned to Yuto, his mind reeling from what he'd witnessed. "Who are you? Where did Sora go?!"
Yuto's gaze softened, seeing the turmoil in Yuya's eyes. "My name is Kurayami Yuto. Sora... he was forced to return to his dimension."
Yuya stared at him, stunned. "Dimension? What do you mean? There... there are other worlds?"
"Yes." Yuto's voice was quiet, steady. "I come from the Xyz Dimension. Sora... he's from the Fusion Dimension. The dimension that destroyed my home. Heartland."
The pieces fell into place for Yuya, the puzzle forming a grim picture. "Then Ruri—she's from your world, too."
Yuto nodded once.
Yuya's voice shook. "Do you... do you know Sakaki Yusho?"
At the mention of the name, Yuto's eyes widened, the ghost of a smile crossing his lips. "Yusho... Yes. I knew him. He taught me the joy of dueling, even in the midst of war."
Yuya felt his heart catch. "He's... he's my father."
Shock registered on Yuto's face. "Your father...?"
Before Yuya could explain further, he pressed on. "Why did Sora's people attack your home? Why would they do that?"
Yuto's expression darkened. "I don't know. All we knew was that Academia wanted to conquer. They turned people into cards—our friends, our families."
Yuya's mind flashed back to the duel—the moment Sora had pulled out two cards and shown them to Ruri. His stomach turned. "Those cards... they were..."
"Our parents," Yuto confirmed, his voice heavy with sorrow.
Yuya could barely breathe. What kind of nightmare had Ruri been living through?
"Then... if there's a Fusion Dimension and an Xyz Dimension, is there... is there a Synchro Dimension, too?"
"Yes," Yuto said simply.
But before more could be said, the park was bathed in blinding green light, the hum of energy filling the air.
At the Command Center, Nakajima cursed under his breath. "We're losing the video feed! Something's interfering with the signal!"
"Activate firewall protocol," Reiji ordered sharply. "I want that feed back online now."
As the light dimmed, a new figure appeared, atop a gleaming white D-Wheel, the engine sputtering from the rough landing. The rider tore off his helmet, revealing another familiar face—another reflection of Yuya.
"Who the—" Yuya and Yuto said almost in unison, both stunned by the appearance.
The boy cursed at his poor landing, then locked eyes with Yuto. His fury reignited. "You! I finally found you! Our duel wasn't finished, and I'm gonna settle it right now!"
His Duel Disk flared to life, but before he could act, Yuto's voice cut through. "Yugo?"
The boy froze. The name, spoken with recognition, disarmed him.
"How... how do you know my name?"
Yuto's expression softened slightly. "Rin told me. Shun told me about the Synchro Dimension, about the one I fought—the Pawn of Fusion. I know you're not with Academia. And I'm sorry for calling you that."
Yugo blinked, the anger draining from his face, replaced by surprise and a touch of relief. "You got my name right..."
He hesitated, then asked, "Where's Rin? Where is she?!"
Before Yuto could answer, a voice called out across the park. "Yuto!"
All heads turned to see Rin, breathless, running toward them.
Yuya and Yuto instinctively stepped back at the shift in her presence. Rin's eyes narrowed as they landed on Yugo.
Yugo's face brightened. "Rin! I—I finally found you! I missed you so much!"
He leapt from his D-Wheel, running toward her with arms outstretched—but as he reached her, Rin's fist shot out, slamming into his gut. Yugo doubled over, the air knocked clean from his lungs, and collapsed onto the ground.
Yuya winced. Yuto flinched. Even at the Command Center, Reiji and Shun grimaced at the impact.
Yugo coughed, trying to catch his breath, only for Rin to grab him by the collar, haul him up, and slap him hard across the face. Once. Twice. Three times. Again and again until his cheeks were burning red.
"R-Rin—!" Yugo stammered, dazed, unable to process what was happening.
Yuya and Yuto exchanged nervous glances, both unsettled by Rin's sudden ferocity.
Finally, Rin released him, letting him fall back. But her eyes blazed with determination. "Pick up your Duel Disk."
Yugo blinked. "What? Rin, why—"
"I said pick it up!" Her voice left no room for argument.
Reluctantly, confused but obedient, Yugo scrambled to grab his Duel Disk from his D-Wheel.
The two stood apart now, facing each other beneath the quiet gaze of the moon. No Action Field. No grand spectacle. Just the purity of a standard duel—one that needed no audience.
Yuya and Yuto stepped aside, sensing the intensity between them.
The Duel Disks activated, the familiar light of duel particles filling the air.
Both voices rang out together.
"DUEL!"
-----
Yugo: 4000 | Hand: 5
Rin: 4000 | Hand: 5
Turn 1 - Yugo
"I'll start us off!" Yugo declared, trying to mask the tremor in his voice beneath his usual enthusiasm. He drew his opening hand, eyes scanning the cards swiftly, instinct guiding him as always.
I don't know why she wants this duel so badly... but if I'm going to face her, I'll do it my way. The way we always did!
"If I control no monsters, I can Special Summon Speedroid Terrortop from my hand!"
A vibrant green portal tore open beside him, and from it burst the whirling form of Terrortop—a mechanical centipede lined with spinning tops that clattered against the air.
Speedroid Terrortop
Level 3 / WIND / Machine / Effect
ATK: 1200 / DEF: 600
"Next, I Normal Summon my Tuner monster, Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice!"
Beside Terrortop, a dark blue pyramidal creature emerged, its three red eyes gleaming ominously beneath the moonlight.
Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice
Level 3 / WIND / Machine / Tuner / Effect
ATK: 300 / DEF: 1500
Yugo's eyes locked with Rin's, his voice louder now, trying to break through the invisible wall between them. "Here I come, Rin! Let's see if you can keep up!"
He raised his hand high. "I tune my Level 3 Tri-Eyed Dice with my Level 3 Terrortop!"
Tri-Eyed Dice's gaze flared, its form dissolving into three glowing Synchro rings that encircled Terrortop. The machine surged forward into the rings, its body dissolving into pure light.
"Magical sword with the form of a cross, use your power to rend all your enemies! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 6—Hi-Speedroid Makendama!"
With a flash, a dark blue machine took shape, its structure a deadly cross-shaped spear bristling with thrusters.
Hi-Speedroid Makendama
Level 6 / WIND / Machine / Synchro / Effect
ATK: 2200 / DEF: 1600
"Makendama's effect! I banish Terrortop from my graveyard to deal 500 damage to you!"
A spiraling surge of energy burst from Makendama's core, slamming into Rin's side of the field.
Rin: 4000 → 3500
Yugo smirked, though his heart wasn't in it. "I set one card face-down and end my turn!"
"Maybe this'll shake her up. Maybe she'll laugh, like she used to."
But Rin's gaze remained cold, focused. Not the way he remembered.
Yugo: 4000 | Hand: 2
Rin: 3500 | Hand: 5
Turn 2 — Rin
Yuto, watching from the sidelines, folded his arms. "Yugo's landed the first strike. Unusual for Rin to take the first damage."
Yuya nodded uneasily. "Ryuki told me... usually, she's the one who pushes first blood. This duel... feels off already."
Rin drew her card, exhaling as she steadied herself. She looked at Yugo—not with warmth, but with resolve, a fire forged from the ashes of pain and betrayal. "If my opponent has more monsters than I do, I can Special Summon Blinking Knight, Millius from my hand!"
A flash of light, and Millius appeared, sword drawn, shield raised, his armor gleaming beneath the night sky.
Blinking Knight, Millius
Level 3 / LIGHT / Warrior / Effect
ATK: 1300 / DEF: 500
Yugo blinked, startled. "Rin? What's that? Where's your Wind Witches?"
The question hit like salt in a wound. Rin's brow twitched. Memories of Clear Wing Synchro Dragon ripping through her beloved Wind Witch monsters burned in her mind. Of Yugo's reckless power—of her own helplessness that day.
"Something happened. I don't use that deck anymore," she said curtly, her voice tight. "But don't worry. This deck will hurt just as much."
Her tone made Yuto shiver. Yuya whispered, "She's mad."
"You noticed?" Yuto muttered grimly.
"I Normal Summon Knight of Battle Preparation, Porrex!"
Porrex leapt onto the field, weapon at the ready, his stance a perfect balance of aggression and discipline.
Knight of Battle Preparation, Porrex
Level 4 / LIGHT / Warrior / Effect / Brave
ATK: 1600 / DEF: 1000
"Porrex's effect activates! When he's summoned, I can add 1 Level 4 or lower Brave monster from my deck to my hand. I choose Knight of Discipline, Alectos!"
Her deck shuffled, the card slipping into her hand with practiced ease.
"Now I tune my Level 3 Millius with my Level 4 Porrex!"
Millius pounded sword against shield, his form transforming into three radiant Synchro rings. Porrex vaulted through the circles, his blade trailing light as the two became one.
Rin raised her arm, voice clear, commanding. "I call forth the trusted light that never wavers! Noble resolve and pure heart, answer the call of battle! Synchro Summon! Shine, Level 7—Blue Sky Knight, Altmile!"
A pillar of pure light split the night sky. From its heart emerged Altmile, his armor a mirror of the moonlight, sword gleaming with justice. He landed with a knight's bow beside his master.
Blue Sky Knight, Altmile
Level 7 / LIGHT / Warrior / Synchro / Effect / Brave
ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2000
"Altmile's effect! When summoned, I can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower LIGHT monster from my graveyard—and it gains 500 ATK! Return, Porrex!"
A second column of light brought Porrex back, stronger, standing proud beside Altmile.
Knight of Battle Preparation, Porrex
Level 4 / LIGHT / Warrior / Effect / Brave
ATK: 1600 → 2100 / DEF: 1000
Rin's eyes narrowed. "Battle! Altmile, strike down Makendama!"
Altmile charged, his blade meeting Makendama in a clash of sparks before cleaving the machine in two.
Yugo: 4000 → 3700
"Porrex! Direct attack!"
Porrex darted forward, weapon spinning as he delivered a brutal strike that sent Yugo staggering.
Yugo: 3700 → 1600
Yuto's eyes widened. "That's... a lot of damage."
Yuya clenched his fists. "If Rin had fewer cards in hand... if Millius' Brave effect had triggered..."
Yuto paled. "Yugo would've been finished. What does that effect do?"
Yuya's voice was tight. "When Millius is used as a Synchro Material for an Altmile, if she has three or fewer cards in hand, Altmile gains a burn effect—deals damage equal to the destroyed monster's ATK. She'd have ended this in one strike."
Yuto shuddered. That close...
Rin set two cards. "I end my turn."
Her gaze never wavered from Yugo, and Yugo felt the weight of it—the fury, the sorrow, the silent demand for answers.
Yugo: 1600 | Hand: 2
Rin: 3500 | Hand: 3
Turn 3 - Yugo
Yugo was panting slightly, still reeling from the ferocity of Rin's assault. His jacket was scuffed from Porrex's earlier strike, but the fire in his eyes hadn't dimmed. Instead, it burned brighter, fueled by admiration and determination.
"That was awesome, Rin!" he called out, a grin spreading across his face despite the sting of his remaining Life Points. "Who would've thought you'd pack such a punch? Your new deck's amazing!"
Rin blinked, stunned for a heartbeat. She had expected anger, maybe desperation—but not that beaming, genuine smile. That familiar light in Yugo's eyes...
Her heart twisted. Yugo... that's really you. But I know Zarc's shadow clings to you. I swear—I'll tear him away. I'll bring you back, no matter what it takes.
Her gaze softened, the fury in her heart reshaping into unshakable resolve. I'll save you, my idiot little brother.
Yugo drew his next card, inhaling the crisp night air, the tension humming in his veins.
"My turn! Draw!" His eyes flashed with renewed focus. "I activate Monster Reborn! Return, Makendama!"
A familiar whir echoed through the park as Hi-Speedroid Makendama rematerialized, spear gleaming as it hovered beside Yugo.
Hi-Speedroid Makendama
Level 6 / WIND / Machine / Synchro / Effect
ATK: 2200 / DEF: 1600
"And next, I activate my face-down trap—Speed Turn! I switch one of your monsters to Defense Position. I choose Porrex!"
Porrex grunted as a sudden gale forced him to one knee, shield bracing against the wind.
Rin narrowed her eyes. He's aiming for piercing damage. Smart... but I expected it.
"Makendama! Go! Attack Porrex!"
Makendama's thrusters ignited, its spear driving forward in a deadly thrust. The point struck Porrex squarely, the force rippling through Rin's Life Points.
Rin: 3500 → 2300
Yugo exhaled, lowering his arm. "I set one card face-down. That's all for now." His smile softened. "Your move, Rin."
Yugo: 1600 | Hand: 2
Rin: 2300 | Hand: 3
Turn 4 — Rin
Rin drew her card, her expression tense. Come on, deck. Work with me...
Her eyes flickered over her hand. The cards stared back, offering little hope.
She sighed, rubbing her temple as a small headache formed behind her eyes.
"I activate Redistribution Command. I shuffle back all three cards in my hand, plus one of my face-downs. Then I draw four new cards."
The cards vanished into her deck, the shuffling echoing faintly in the park's quiet.
Rin drew. One. Two. Three. Four.
She glanced at them—no miracle yet.
"I end my turn."
Yugo blinked. "You're... not summoning? Or attacking?"
"I said my hand's bad, okay?" Rin groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. "I'm having one of those nights."
"Oh... sorry..." Yugo said sheepishly, scratching the back of his head.
Yuya and Yuto watched from the sidelines, concern mounting.
"Is Rin really that unlucky?" Yuto asked, frowning.
"No. When I dueled her, she was drawing what she needed at every turn," Yuya said, remembering their match vividly. "This isn't normal for her."
Rin looked up, forcing a smile for Yugo's sake. "Don't apologize. Just focus on the duel. Like old times, remember?"
That was all Yugo needed to hear. His grin returned, fierce and eager.
"You're right. Let's go all out!"
Yugo: 1600 | Hand: 2
Rin: 1100 | Hand: 4
Turn 5 — Yugo
"My turn! Draw!"
Yugo drew his card with a dramatic flourish. His eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"I summon Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice!"
A small golden die with glowing red pips appeared, orbiting slowly beside Yugo.
Speedroid Red-Eyed Dice
Level 1 / WIND / Machine / Tuner / Effect
ATK: 100 / DEF: 100
"Here I go! I tune my Level 1 Red-Eyed Dice with Level 6 Makendama!"
The die pulsed with golden light, transforming into a single Synchro ring that encircled Makendama. The machine burst through it, dissolving into pure speed and energy.
"Spread your beautiful wings and strike your enemies at light-speed! Synchro Summon! Appear, Level 7—Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
A roar split the night as Clear Wing emerged, crystalline green wings glinting, its serpentine body shimmering with power.
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon
Level 7 / WIND / Dragon / Synchro / Effect
ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2000
The roar wasn't all that echoed. Yuya suddenly gasped, clutching his chest, sweat breaking across his brow.
"Yuya?!" Yuto steadied him, alarmed.
Yuya's Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon slipped from his deck, glowing ominously. At the same time, Dark Rebellion began to radiate with the same unnatural light.
In the command center, Reiji's eyes narrowed as the feed displayed the disturbance. Without hesitation, he sent an urgent message.
Meanwhile, Ryuki stood at Ruri's bedside, watching over her. His Duel Disk chimed, displaying Reiji's message. His heart sank.
No... not now...
But duty called. Just then, Chrono Dran and Chrono Tiger arrived, their small forms solemn as they sensed the tension.
"Watch over her," Ryuki said quietly. The two Zodiac Time Beasts nodded.
Ryuki ascended to the rooftop, holding his Vanguard card aloft. His PSYqualia surged to life.
"Ride the Vanguard!"
A pillar of flame engulfed him, and when it faded, Dragon Knight Nehalem stood where Ryuki once was. Nehalem's dragon spread its wings, carrying Ryuki toward the storm gathering at Central Park.
Back at the park, Yugo's eyes shone as he pressed on.
"I activate Hell Dive Whirlwind Slasher! Clear Wing gains 1000 ATK and is unaffected by other card effects this turn!"
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon
ATK: 2500 → 3500
Wind howled around the dragon, its wings slicing the air.
Yuya gasped again, nearly buckling. Yuto gritted his teeth. "Rin—end this! Quickly!"
But Yugo wasn't done.
"Next, I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Ventus Reactor! I target one WIND Monster in my field and that monster gains 1000 ATK! I target Clear Wing! It gains another 1000 ATK!"
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon
ATK: 3500 → 4500
"Battle! Clear Wing! Attack Altmile! Hell Dive Whirlwind Slasher!"
Clear Wing soared upward, a tornado forming in its wake.
Rin's eyes flashed. "I activate the effect of a monster in my Extra Deck! When an Altmile Monster is targeted for an attack, I can Synchro Summon using monsters from my field or hand! I tune my Level 2 Head Wind Knight, Selim and Level 5 Counteroffensive Knight, Suleiman!"
From light emerged Selim and Suleiman, their forms combining as Synchro Rings flared to life.
"When the path of justice is threatened, the unbreakable wall answers the call! Defend the light—Synchro Summon! Hold the line, Level 7!— Divine Knight of Godly Defense, Igraine!"
Divine Knight of Godly Defense, Igraine
Level 7 / LIGHT / Warrior / Synchro / Effect / Brave
ATK: 0 / DEF: 3000
Igraine raised her hand high and multiple glyphs appeared in front of her and Altmile, the force of Clear Wing's attack deflected harmlessly.
Rin: 2300 → 800
"Wha—why didn't it hit Altmile?" Yugo stammered.
"Igraine's Brave activates when I have three or fewer cards in hand. You can only attack her this turn. She can't be destroyed, and she's unaffected by your card effects. But I still take damage."
Yugo blinked, then laughed softly. "That's incredible..."
"Igraine returns to my Extra Deck at End Phase, but I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower monster from my graveyard. Come back, Millius!"
As Igraine vanished in a pillar of light, Millius took the field once more.
Blinking Knight, Millius
Level 3 / LIGHT / Warrior / Effect
ATK: 1300 / DEF: 500
"Clear Wing's ATK returns to normal as well."
Clear Wing Synchro Dragon
ATK: 4500 → 2500
"I end my turn."
Yugo: 1600 | Hand: 1
Rin: 800 | Hand: 1
Turn 6 - Rin
The stars above Maiami twinkled dimly as if holding their breath, and the moon cast a cool silver glow over the battle-scarred park below. Winds stirred gently, whispering of endings and beginnings.
Far above the clouds, a fiery silhouette descended—Nehalem's dragon, its wings burning through the mist. Upon its back stood Ryuki, cloaked in scarlet armor, his gaze locked on the duel unfolding beneath him. From this distance, his eyes scanned the field with precision sharpened by PSYqualia.
"Zarc... hasn't stirred. That's good," he murmured, eyes narrowing. "Yuto and Yuri weakened him more than we thought. If Rin defeats Yugo now, she might delay Zarc's awakening further."
A familiar chime echoed through his Duel Disk—a call from Akaba Reiji.
"Are you in position?" Reiji asked, his tone clipped.
"I am," Ryuki replied, his voice calm. "But I won't interfere. Rin can handle this. She needs to." Without waiting for a reply, he ended the call. "Nehalem, land us somewhere unseen."
With a low growl, the dragon banked toward a forest clearing, vanishing silently from the world's stage. The sky was now clear for the final act.
At ground level, Yuto crouched beside Yuya, who was recovering from the overwhelming resonance that surged when Clear Wing took the field.
"You alright?" Yuto asked, helping Yuya sit up.
"I... I think so," Yuya panted, wiping the sweat from his brow. "What happened while I was out?"
"Yugo's got the upper hand," Yuto said gravely. "Rin's down to 800 LP. They each have only one card left."
Yuya turned to the field just in time to hear Rin speak with quiet resolve.
"My turn. Draw!"
Rin's fingers closed around her card—and in that instant, her PSYqualia flared. Her eyes glowed briefly with azure light as a vision seared into her mind—a radiant white dragon, cloaked in hope, its lance plunging through the heart of Clear Wing.
She gasped softly, the vision fading, her soul stirring.
This is it. This is my answer. Not just for me... but for him. For Yugo.
Her gaze hardened, filled with the resolve of someone ready to pierce through darkness.
"Here I come, Yugo! I summon—Resurgent Knight, Stius!"
A youthful warrior cloaked in Arabian-inspired armor materialized, his light spear twirling confidently in his grasp.
Resurgent Knight, Stius
Level 2 / LIGHT / Warrior / Tuner / Effect / Brave
ATK: 1200 / DEF: 800
"This is new," Yugo said, eyes narrowing with curiosity.
But Rin wasn't done.
"Let me show you something I learned in this dimension...!" she declared. "I double tune my Level 2 Resurgent Knight, Stius, Level 3 Blinking Knight, Millius, and Level 7 Blue Sky Knight, Altmile!"
Stius and Millius nodded solemnly, then transformed into five radiant Synchro rings. Altmile charged through them, his form dissolving into glimmering particles of hope.
Rin extended her arm to the heavens.
"O beacon that shines beyond the darkest night... Let your brilliance guide the lost, and burn away the shadows of ruin!"
A light cracked open the skies above.
"I call upon the dragon that embodies hope's unbreakable light—Synchro Summon! Descend, Level 12! — Holy Dragon, Luminous Hope Dragon!!"
The heavens answered.
From the rift emerged a majestic white dragon, its wings refracting rainbow hues with every beat. A golden lance radiated holy energy from its claws. As it descended, its divine aura blanketed the battlefield with serene, overwhelming brilliance.
Holy Dragon, Luminous Hope Dragon
Level 12 / LIGHT / Dragon / Synchro / Effect / Brave
ATK: 3800 / DEF: 2900
Yuya gasped—the pain in his chest vanished. The light of Luminous Hope calmed the resonance of Zarc's fragments. Even Dark Rebellion and Odd-Eyes ceased their glow. Yuto looked on, wide-eyed, recognizing the stabilizing power of the Synchro Monster.
"Whoa!! That was so cool, Rin!" Yugo grinned like a child, eyes sparkling. "Double Tuning?! When did you learn that?!"
"Focus, Yugo," Rin said sternly, though a small smile tugged at her lips.
"Right, right!" he laughed, stepping back into his duelist stance.
"Now then—Luminous Hope Dragon's effect activates!" Rin declared. "When it's Synchro Summoned, I Special Summon two 'Brave' monsters from my graveyard—and they gain 1000 ATK!"
Twin beams of light summoned Porrex and Suleiman, their weapons drawn and spirits reinvigorated.
Knight of Battle Preparation, Porrex
ATK: 1600 → 2600
Counteroffensive Knight, Suleiman
ATK: 2000 → 3000
"And that's not all! Luminous Hope Dragon gains 300 ATK for each 'Brave' monster in my graveyard—I count four. So that's 1200 more!"
Holy Dragon, Luminous Hope Dragon
ATK: 3800 → 5000
Rin raised a hand, glowing with determined fury. "Since I used Altmile as a Synchro Material, I inherit one of his effects—I choose his negation ability!"
Yugo blinked. "W-Wait, he can do all that?!"
"Now, I discard my last card to activate Luminous Hope Dragon's second effect—for each 'Brave' monster I control, I can negate a card on your field and its effects!"
Yugo shouted, "I activate Clear Wing's effect! When a Level 5 or higher monster targets one of my monsters, I negate and destroy it! Then Clear Wing gains the ATK of the monster destroyed! Dichroic Mirror"
Clear Wing screeched, surging with emerald lightning—preparing to strike down Rin's dragon.
Yuya's eyes widened. "No—he's going to destroy Luminous Hope!"
But Rin was ready.
"I activate the second effect I inherited from Altmile! When a card effect targets one of my cards, I negate it—AND Luminous Hope Dragon deals double battle damage this turn!"
A radiant halo formed behind Luminous Hope's head as the dragon batted aside Clear Wing's strike with a flap of its wings.
"Battle! Luminous Hope Dragon—attack Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"
The dragon lifted its divine lance skyward, the blade growing longer, brighter.
"I activate its Brave effect—when I have no cards in hand, its ATK doubles and it becomes unaffected by card effects!"
Holy Dragon, Luminous Hope Dragon
ATK: 5000 → 10,000
Everyone watching—Yuya, Yuto, Reiji, even Shun—stood frozen in disbelief.
"A ten-thousand attack point dragon?!" Yuya shouted.
Even Reiji, normally composed, lowered his glasses in shock.
Yugo stood still as the roaring dragon charged. The divine light of Luminous Hope reflected in his eyes.
"Incredible..." he whispered. "You really are amazing, Rin..."
He smiled and gently lowered his Duel Disk.
This... This is the power of your hope.
Rin's voice rang out with calm finality.
"Rhongomyniad!!"
With a thunderous cry, Luminous Hope thrust its radiant lance forward, unleashing a storm of pure light. A beam of hope exploded across the field, piercing through Clear Wing, consuming it—and Yugo—with blinding brilliance.
Yugo: 1600 → 0
Winner: Rin
The light gradually faded. Duel particles shimmered and drifted like feathers in the air.
Rin stood quietly, her hand lowering from the final command. Her chest rose and fell slowly. Luminous Hope Dragon gave her a final glance, bowed its head, then dissipated into streaks of gentle light.
Yugo collapsed to his knees, eyes wide not from pain—but from awe.
"You... beat me..." he breathed.
She stepped forward and offered her hand. "Of course I did. I told you, right? I'd beat some sense into you if I had to."
Yugo grinned, tears forming at the corners of his eyes. "You really... grew strong, huh?"
"I had to," she said softly, helping him up. "Someone had to remind you who you are."
Yugo looked at her—really looked—and saw not the angry girl he'd met earlier, but the strong, unwavering sister figure who always stood up for him.
"Thanks, Rin..."
Yugo lost consciousness after that and behind them, Yuya was standing again, the pain gone completely. Yuto nodded with quiet pride.
Above, watching from the trees, Ryuki sighed in relief. "Well done... That's one light the darkness won't reach."
And deep in the shadows of another world, the slumbering essence of Zarc twisted—but did not stir.
Not yet.
-----
The night air of Maiami was calm, as though the city itself sighed in relief after the clash between Rin and Yugo. The duel was over. Clear Wing's form had vanished into fading particles of light, and Yugo lay motionless on the ground, his chest gently rising and falling, the tension of battle replaced by the quiet of sleep.
Yuya and Yuto knelt beside him, concern plain in their eyes. "How is he?" Yuya asked, brushing strands of Yugo's silver hair away from his face.
Rin exhaled softly, her anger tempered now that the storm had passed. "He's just asleep. He burned himself out... but he'll be fine."
From the shadows at the edge of the woods, footsteps approached—a firm, purposeful stride. Ryuki emerged, his silhouette framed by the moonlight, his red coat billowing softly in the breeze. A subtle smile touched his lips as he regarded Rin. "Well done. You handled that with precision and heart."
Yuto rose, blinking in surprise. "Ryuki... how long were you watching?"
"Only from when Rin began her final turn," Ryuki replied, folding his arms as he surveyed the scene. His gaze lingered on Yugo—relieved, but still cautious.
Yuya looked up at Ryuki, his mind racing with unanswered questions. "What should we do now? Where do we take Yugo?"
Ryuki considered it a moment, then spoke decisively. "LDS. The medical team there can check him over, and they can secure his D-Wheel. Reiji will have already anticipated we'd bring him there."
Without hesitation, Ryuki activated his communicator. "Reiji, we need pickup at Central Park. One unconscious duelist. Send a transport and secure medical staff."
As Ryuki issued orders, Rin stepped forward. "I'll take Yugo's D-Wheel to LDS. He and I built it together. It's only right."
Yuya and Yuto exchanged glances but said nothing; Rin's determination brooked no argument.
The journey to LDS was quiet. The transport carrying Yugo sped ahead, while Rin rode his D-Wheel with care, every hum of the engine a reminder of the countless hours they'd spent constructing it. By the time they arrived, dawn's first light was breaking over the city.
Shun was waiting anxiously at LDS's entrance. His sharp gaze softened as he saw Rin dismount and the medics wheeling Yugo inside. "Thank goodness," he murmured, tension draining from his posture. "You're all safe."
The medics moved swiftly, taking Yugo to the medical ward. Rin guided the D-Wheel into the garage, handling it as gently as if it were Yugo himself. Yuto excused himself quietly, fatigue catching up to him as he headed to his quarters. Shun, needing to clear his mind, requested permission to patrol, which Reiji granted with a solemn nod.
Ryuki turned to Yuya. "You should head home. Your mother's likely worried sick."
Yuya hesitated only a moment before nodding. "You're right. Thank you, Ryuki." And with that, he departed, hurrying toward the quiet streets leading home.
Ryuki remained, his mind already turning to the next step. He faced Reiji, who had joined them in the corridor. "What's the current situation?"
Reiji motioned for Ryuki to follow him. "Let's discuss this in my office."
The two entered the command center's heart, the quiet hum of machinery underscoring the gravity of their conversation. Reiji activated the central monitor, streams of data scrolling rapidly. His voice was measured but grave. "Sora was forcibly recalled by Academia. We should expect retaliation—likely soon."
Ryuki sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Increase security. Expand surveillance, especially near vulnerable districts."
Reiji's eyes glinted behind his glasses. "Already underway. Additional surveillance nodes were installed overnight. We're reinforcing the security wall perimeter as well."
Ryuki nodded, his respect for Reiji's foresight clear. His gaze drifted to a corner of the monitor—two faces displayed there: Ashley von Hazelrink and Sawatari Shingo. He arched a brow. "Why are those two on the Lancer potential roster?"
Reiji adjusted his glasses. "Both have potential. Ashley shows remarkable discipline. Sawatari... has promise, beneath the bravado."
A small smirk touched Ryuki's lips. "Contact Ashley tomorrow. I want to speak with him. There's something I intend to pass on."
"Consider it done," Reiji said. "For now, go home. Rest. We've done all we can for tonight."
Ryuki inclined his head and took his leave. Outside LDS, the cool night air met him—and so did Rin, waiting patiently near the entrance. She crossed her arms, her brow raised in question. "You left Ruri alone?"
"She's not alone," Ryuki said with a small smile. "Chrono Dran and Chrono Tigar returned from Cray. They're keeping watch."
Rin blinked, momentarily surprised, then shrugged it off. Together, they walked back toward their apartment, the city quiet save for the distant hum of streetlights and the murmur of a waking breeze.
When they arrived, they peeked into Ruri's room. The sight brought a warmth to their hearts—Ruri, peacefully asleep, with Dran and Tigar curled protectively atop her blanket, as loyal as ever. Ryuki gently patted Rin's head. "Come on. Let's call it a night."
Morning came softly over Maiami, casting golden light over the third day of the Maiami Championship. For You Show Duel School, there was no excitement this day. Their remaining participants had fallen short of the win-rate threshold; the preliminaries were done for them.
Ryuki gathered Yuzu, Gongenzaka, and the others in the courtyard. His tone was kind but firm. "There's something I need to tell you all. Sora... he's gone. Someone from his homeland came for him. That's all I can say. Please don't press further into it."
Though curiosity burned in their eyes, they respected his request, nodding solemnly. Even Shuzo refrained from prying, though he asked gently, "Will you and the girls be joining us today?"
Ryuki shook his head. "Rin, Ruri, and I have matters to discuss with Reiji. We'll catch up later."
And so, the trio found themselves once again in Reiji's office, waiting in the quiet for their guest. The door soon opened, and Ashley stepped inside.
Gone was the armor that so often defined his presence. Instead, he wore a neat light-blue sweater vest over a collared shirt, brown slacks, and polished black shoes—a stark contrast that made Rin blink in surprise.
"You're not wearing your armor?" she asked, puzzled.
Ashley smiled gently. "I only wear it for dueling. It's tradition at my school."
His gaze turned to Reiji. "You summoned me, sir?"
Reiji gestured toward Ryuki. "Not I—Ryuki wished to see you."
Ryuki stepped forward, his demeanor as steady as ever. "Ashley, you have potential. Both as a duelist, and as a person of principle. Your duel with Rin was great and you pushed her to her limits as she pushed you to yours as well. That's why..." He reached into his satchel, withdrawing a gold deck case that gleamed in the office's light. "This is for you."
Ashley took it, puzzled but intrigued. He slid out the top card—and his breath caught.
Sunrise Ray Knight, Gurguit
Level 7 / LIGHT / Warrior / Synchro / Effect / Unite
ATK: 2500 / DEF: 2000
Ruri and Rin exchanged a look of shock. They knew what this meant.
Ashley stared at the card, awe-struck. "This... what deck is this?"
"Gold Paladin," Ryuki said, his voice carrying the weight of legacy. "A clan that excels in rallying comrades to the field, building strength through unity. The Unite skill activates when two or more monsters are Special Summoned in a turn. This deck embodies chivalry and light—it chose you."
Ashley looked up, confusion and humility warring on his face. "But why me?"
"Because after your duel with Rin, they saw your honor," Ryuki said simply. "Accept them. They've already accepted you."
Reluctantly, Ashley closed his eyes and took a breath. In that moment, a vision unfolded—golden warriors arrayed in formation, their banners shining in sunlight. At their head stood Gurguit, armor radiant, blade raised high. We stand with you, came the unspoken oath. Lead us.
Ashley opened his eyes, heart pounding. His fist rose to his chest. "On my honor—Ashley von Hazelrink—I will lead the Gold Paladin to victory."
Ryuki smiled, satisfied. "Then let them be your strength."
As Ashley left, the room felt lighter, as if the Gold Paladin's light lingered. Ryuki's eyes narrowed slightly. "He has a spark of PSYqualia now... let's give him time to bond with his new comrades. Then we'll see what comes next."
After Ashley had taken his leave, the door to Reiji's office remained open for a moment, as though the energy of the conversation still lingered in the air. Ryuki, Rin, and Ruri exchanged glances, thinking their meeting had concluded. But Reiji, ever the tactician, folded his hands atop his desk and fixed them with a contemplative look.
"I have a matter on which I would like your suggestions."
That single sentence drew surprised looks from all three. It was rare for Reiji Akaba—the man who always seemed ten steps ahead—to seek counsel so openly. Rin tilted her head, puzzled. "What is it that you need from us, Reiji?"
Reiji's gaze shifted to the large monitor behind him, where maps of Maiami City and tournament schematics glowed faintly. "I am considering the structure of the tournament's second phase. Specifically... I intend to make it a battle royal."
"A battle royal?" Ruri echoed, eyes narrowing in thought.
Reiji nodded. "Yes. A large-scale match format would better prepare duelists for real combat scenarios. Academia's forces are not kind enough to challenge us in formal duels—they attack in waves, in chaos. A battle royal would simulate that environment, while also allowing me to introduce the Pendulum cards I've designed."
The mention of the Pendulum cards caught Ryuki's interest. His mind, always alert to strategy, began to race through the possibilities. Before he could speak, Rin's brow furrowed as she voiced the concern lingering in the room. "When do you think Academia will strike?"
Ryuki folded his arms, his expression grave but steady. "A week. Two at most. Their preparations can't take much longer. That's why we have to be ready for anything."
The weight of that statement hung heavily over them. And then, as if a spark ignited within him, Ryuki's sharp eyes glimmered with an idea.
"Instead of a free-for-all battle royal... what about a team battle royal? Specifically, a three-person team format."
Reiji's gaze sharpened. "A three-team battle royal? Elaborate."
Ryuki gave a small smile, the memories of his former world flashing through his mind. "In my original world, I helped organize the U-20 Championship. The structure I propose is based on that. Here's how it works: each team consists of three duelists. The duels are one-on-one, no outside interference allowed. When a duelist loses, they're sent to the losers' area. A team is eliminated only when all its members have lost their duels."
Ruri leaned forward, intrigued. "So if one of your teammates is defeated, the others can still carry the team?"
"Exactly." Ryuki nodded. "And there's more. Let's say Team A's duelist beats your teammate from Team B. If you defeat a Team A duelist later, you can recover your teammate from the losers' area. A chance to rescue them through victory. The team dynamic stays intact until all are defeated. And in case if Academia attacked, defeated duelists will be sent to the losers area before they get to card them. And by beating an Academia soldier, the defeated duelist can return to fight."
Rin's eyes lit with the tactical possibilities. "That... could work. It teaches teamwork and endurance. And it mirrors how Academia strikes—in groups."
Reiji tapped his fingers thoughtfully on the desk, digesting every word. "That structure encourages cooperation under pressure. And the time limit?"
"The battles would span three days. Any teams left standing at the end, regardless of how many members remain, advance to the next round." Ryuki's tone was confident. "It's a trial of both strength and spirit."
There was a pause as Reiji considered the plan's ramifications. Then he gave a rare, approving nod. "Impressive. You've thought this through."
Ryuki offered a wry grin. "I lived it. I mean we used this method to lure someone back in my world, and it worked like a charm."
Reiji leaned back in his chair, already adjusting the plan in his mind. "You're right. One duelist against Academia's squads would be overrun. Three working together could fend them off. I'll present this to the organizers after today's matches conclude."
With that settled, Reiji turned to another matter, his gaze softening ever so slightly. "We've finished replicating the data from Yugo's D-Wheel. LDS engineers can start producing our own models. If there are no disturbances, we'll have them ready within a week."
Rin's face brightened. "That's wonderful news! But... please, Reiji, tell the engineers to take care of Yugo's D-Wheel. It's more than just a machine. He and I built it together... it's precious to him."
"I understand." Reiji inclined his head. "I'll see to it personally."
The business at hand concluded, Ryuki, Ruri, and Rin took their leave. As they stepped into the corridors of LDS, the tension that had filled Reiji's office gave way to the more familiar hum of activity. Duelists moved through the halls, some discussing strategy, others reviewing footage of previous matches.
As they passed one of the simulation rooms, the trio paused. Inside, the familiar figure of Ashley von Hazelrink was deep in practice. Without his armor, he moved with surprising grace, his focus unbroken as he issued commands to the monsters on his field.
"Kinarius! Stand your ground!" Ashley's voice rang with authority.
Beside Kinarius, a brilliant armored figure wielding a sword that gleamed like the sun, stood another knight—smaller but no less valiant—Knight of Sunny Day, Salonius.
Ruri tilted her head, surprised. "Ashley? Training here?"
Rin was equally puzzled. "I thought Knights of Duelists preferred their own grounds."
Curious, they approached one of the technicians monitoring the simulation data. "Why is someone from the Knight of Duelists school practicing at LDS?" Ruri asked politely.
The technician gave a friendly shrug. "As long as they provide useful duel data, anyone is welcome. The point is to learn from as many styles as possible. It helps prevent mistakes in future duels."
Ryuki smiled slightly at that. "A good philosophy."
Leaving Ashley to his training, the trio continued on, heading toward the arena to catch the final matches of the day. As they walked, the weight of what was coming settled over them—but so too did the quiet confidence that they were preparing as best they could.
And as Ryuki glanced skyward, the sunlight breaking through the clouds, he silently vowed: Whatever comes... we'll be ready.
-----
Beyond the familiar blue sky of Ryuki's original world, far from the conflicts of Standard and the storm gathering in Maiami City, the call of destiny echoed on Earth. Three days had passed since Harmonics Messiah had reached out through the threads of PSYqualia, summoning those who still held the strength—and will—to answer. In Japan, at FIVA headquarters, the preparations began.
Within Ibuki's office, the atmosphere was tense, the weight of the unknown heavy upon them. Seven figures had assembled—each one a master in their own right, warriors of card and spirit.
At the head of the group stood Onimaru Kazumi, his long, near-white hair tied back, yellow eyes sharp as a blade. His black jacket, worn over a crimson shirt, spoke of a man who had lived through darkness—and now sought redemption. A former leader of Team Diffrider, his Nubatama deck was famed, feared, and respected.
Beside him was his stepbrother, Shoji Kazuma, his dark teal hair streaked with white. There was a quiet intensity to him, his gray eyes sharp with purpose. A Shadow Paladin user, he was no stranger to inner demons—and the battles they forced him to fight.
Christopher Lo, youthful genius and former captain of Team SIT Genius, leaned casually against the desk. His violet eyes sparkled beneath the hood of his dark blue cat-eared jacket. His rise in the cardfighting world had been meteoric, his command of Great Nature unmatched. And now, as president of Genius Communication Technology, he carried both brilliance and responsibility.
Standing calmly was Mitsusada Kenji, fair-skinned, silver-eyed, his blonde hair framing his young face, although he's already at his 20's. He's one of the best cardfighters in the world, basically a celebrity, captain of Team Caesar and the Number 1 Dimension Police user in the world. The moniker "The Emperor" is something he earned.
Then there was Enishi Satoru, the prodigy Branch Chief of Dark Zone at just seventeen. His reddish-orange hair and green eyes spoke of passion beneath his composed exterior. A master of Dark Irregulars, he had achieved much—but knew that duty often demanded more.
Sendou Aichi stood with quiet resolve, his long blue hair and kind gaze unchanged by the years. A fighter whose strength transcended leagues and titles, a PSYqualia user who carried the hopes of many. His Gold Paladin and Royal Paladin decks were legendary.
Finally, Sendou Emi, bright and courageous, stood at her brother's side. Her peach hair framed her determined blue eyes, her Bermuda Triangle deck a symbol of her gentle yet unyielding spirit.
Ibuki's voice broke the silence. "Thank you all for coming. I know what I asked was no small request."
Satoru offered a respectful nod. "It's our duty. You're my superior, Ibuki. I go where needed."
Kenji smiled as he followed. "If my friend is in need, I will be there always. How could I call my self "Emperor" if I couldn't help my friend?"
Christopher folded his arms. "It's rare for you to call on us personally, Ibuki. What's this about?"
Ibuki gestured to Aichi and Christopher. "I need you both to activate your PSYqualia. Harmonics Messiah herself will explain. Place your hands on my deck, and I'll guide you to her."
Without hesitation, Aichi and Christopher complied, their PSYqualia surging forth in tandem. A glow filled the room—and in a flash of light, the office was empty. They had crossed worlds.
Star Gate. Valley of the Messiah. Cray.
They stood upon sacred ground, where the skies shimmered with cosmic light, and the land itself seemed to hum with power. For Emi, Satoru, Kenji, Kazuma, and Kazumi, it was their first true glimpse of Cray. Wonder filled their eyes as they took in the vastness, the strange beauty of another world.
Emi whispered, "Aichi... do you see this every time?"
Aichi smiled softly. "When I'm called... yes."
Kenji smiled as he gazed upon Cray. "So this is how you and Ren felt..."
Ibuki beckoned. "Come. The Messiah's temple awaits."
They walked through the valley, the terrain vast and ancient, until at last they reached the heart of Star Gate—the Temple of Harmonics. There, awaiting them, was a being of transcendent majesty.
Genesis Dragon, Harmonics Messiah.
Her form was divine: a colossal white dragon with wings like starlight, twin spheres on her shoulders representing Earth and Cray—their destinies entwined. She radiated both power and peace.
"Welcome," Harmonics spoke, her voice echoing through their souls. "I thank you for answering the call."
Ibuki inclined his head. "They are the strongest I could gather."
Harmonics turned to Kenji. "And you, Champion of Daiyusha. Thank you for accepting the call of my Vanguard."
Kenji smiled to Messiah as he gave a respectful nod. "No worries. It's a pleasure to work with all of you."
The great dragon nodded in approval. "Good. Now, let us speak of why I summoned you."
With a wave of her claw, light formed beside her, coalescing into a figure—a young woman with maroon twin-tails, clad in a violet shirt and creamy coat.
Christopher blinked. "Who's this?"
Harmonics answered, "Akaba Ray. She is the reason I called you here."
Ray stepped forward, her gaze warm but filled with sorrow. "I am grateful you came. I am from a world divided... four dimensions, once one, now at war. My father seeks to fuse them by force. And Zarc... a terrible power, sealed long ago, now stirs."
She spoke of Academia, of the Lancers, of Ryuki's journey, of the looming war. As she spoke, the weight of their task grew clear.
Christopher crossed his arms. "I see. But why should we risk ourselves in a war that isn't ours?"
Harmonics answered by conjuring an image: the fragments of Antique Gear Chaos Giant, buried in a Star Gate canyon. A reminder that the dimensions' war had already touched Cray.
Ray added, "If they succeed, Cray will not be spared. I sent Ryuki ahead, but I fear even he will be overwhelmed."
A hush fell. Then, one by one, they answered.
Christopher grinned. "I can't leave a fellow genius hanging. And I want to see how Duel Monsters compares to Vanguard."
Kazumi stepped forward. "If helping you earns me redemption, I'll fight."
Kazuma nodded. "Ryuki-san helped me find my strength along with Chrono and Taiyou. I'll repay that debt. And this time, I'll be with the ones saving the world"
Satoru stepped forward as he placed his hand on his heart. "Ryuki's the only one who gets me. I'm with you."
Kenji stepped forward as he balled his fist. "I'm going too. If Ryuki needs help, then I'll help him the way I can. And if what you say is true, then me and the Dimension Police won't sit still."
Aichi nodded as he looked at Ray. "Ryuki-kun is my brother in all but blood. I'll stand with him."
Emi, after a pause, added, "And I'll go as well."
Aichi hesitated. "Emi..."
She smiled at him, her heart resolute. "No more watching from the sidelines. And this time, I want to be at Ryuki-kun's side. Now, then, forever."
Aichi saw the truth—and remembered the bond she shared with Ryuki. From the start... she really fell for him. Aichi knew that Emi has grown feelings towards Ryuki and Ryuki seemed to be okay with Emi despite his busy schedule. And Aichi also knew that Ryuki is very close with his sister, up to the point where he wanted to be the wingman.
Ray bowed low, tears glistening in her eyes. "Thank you. All of you."
Harmonics then summoned seven new decks, crafted from their hearts' call. "To assist Ryuki in his quest, I provide these for you."

Their ace units reborn as Duel Monsters.
Christopher whistled as he looked at his ace unit. "Well how about that. It seems the skill of this one mirrors my actual unit."
Kenji looked at Daiyusha as he gave a nod. "Let's do this together, partner." As he said that, a tinge of PSYqualia appeared on his eyes.
Kazumi looked at his card and it's the same as his brother. "Looks like both of us got Fusion, Kazuma."
Kazuma nodded as he smiled a bit. "Yeah, this'll take some time to learn."
Satoru looked at his card and nodded as he was satisfied with the effects that his ace had. "Hm. I can work with this."
Aichi looked at Blaster Blade as he smiled at his Avatar. "Looks like we're going on a journey again, partner."
Emi looked at her new card with joy as a tinge of PSYqualia appeared on her eyes. "We're going to have a blast, Pacifica~"
Aichi and Christopher felt a tinge of PSYqualia from Kenji and Emi's and both of them nodded to each other as they'll train Emi to master hers.
Ray spoke softly. "Time is suspended here. I will teach you all you must know of my world's game."
