Chapter 161 - Chapter 161: Don’t Provoke the Akatsuki Organization

Afei Building

"Everyone, look around and see if there's any place that gangster might've hidden his money," Nagato ordered.

"Got it!" everyone responded in unison.

The group immediately scattered, thoroughly searching every corner of the office in hopes of uncovering Ah Fei's hidden stash.

While the others were busy rummaging through the room, Kakuzu's eyes fell on a nearby sofa.

"Heh, this sofa looks expensive. Let's move it!" he muttered to himself, effortlessly lifting it onto his shoulders.

Everyone paused and stared at him in confusion.

"Kakuzu, what are you doing?" Biwa Juzo asked, puzzled.

"This sofa clearly isn't cheap. Instead of leaving it for that guy Ah Fei, we should take it back and use it ourselves," Kakuzu said matter-of-factly. "We don't even have a decent sofa in the base. This one looks perfect."

Hearing his logic, everyone silently nodded. Kakuzu had a point—their base really could use some renovations.

"But how are we going to move all this stuff back?" Juzo asked, scratching his head.

Kakuzu stopped and frowned.

Right. There was too much here to haul away on their own.

Just then, his eyes landed on the group of White Zetsu loitering near the doorway.

Free labor. Perfect.

"Hey! Move this sofa to the first-floor hall. Place it beside my money tree. And if you so much as scratch it… I'll twist your heads off."

He dropped the sofa to the floor with a thud.

The White Zetsu trembled at Kakuzu's cold glare and nearly wet themselves in fear.

"Y-Yes, sir! We promise to handle it with care!" they stammered, quickly scrambling to carry the sofa away.

Nagato looked around the lavishly decorated office and said, "What if we just move everything out of here?"

The items scattered across the room were clearly valuable. Leaving them behind would be a waste.

"I'll handle it, Leader. You check the other floors for a vault," Kakuzu volunteered without hesitation.

Nagato nodded. "Alright. I'll leave this floor to you."

"Don't worry," Kakuzu assured him. "Not a single tile will be left behind."

Once Nagato and the others departed, Kakuzu turned to the remaining White Zetsu.

"Start prying up the tiles!"

Too afraid to protest, the White Zetsu obeyed, carefully removing floor tiles and decorations.

Before long, the once-opulent office looked like a gutted warehouse.

Kakuzu surveyed the now-empty room with pride and nodded in satisfaction.

"Make sure to bring all my stuff downstairs," he ordered as he made his way toward the lower floors.

The Afei Building had nearly sixty floors.

It took the Akatsuki members a significant amount of time to comb through it all.

By the end of the day, their haul was piled high on the first floor—mountains of loot.

Everyone looked over the pile with contented expressions.

"We didn't find Ah Fei's vault," Nagato said, "but the money we did collect is more than enough."

They hadn't found the vault, but various floors had yielded stacks of cash—nearly ten billion in total. Far more than they had anticipated.

"We should head to the boss and purchase those nuclear weapons," Konan suggested.

"Agreed," Nagato said, turning to Kakuzu. "You stay and supervise the transport of everything back to the Rain Village."

"Got it. I'll meet you all back at the base," Kakuzu nodded.

After the others left, Kakuzu's eyes lit up.

"Someone bring up my money tree!" he yelled, unable to hide the glee in his voice.

The White Zetsu around him instinctively stepped aside, clearing a wide path.

Moments later, four White Zetsu emerged, struggling to carry a massive object—a money tree.

It was several meters tall, its dense canopy lush and full. The trunk and branches were made of solid gold, gleaming brilliantly in the light.

Kakuzu's eyes sparkled with greed. He rubbed his hands together, trembling with excitement.

"Hehehe… my beautiful money tree!"

He lifted the golden tree onto his shoulders like a trophy and barked at the White Zetsu, "Grab your stuff and follow me. Don't even think about running. If you do, and I catch you... you'll regret it."

His tone was calm but laced with deadly menace.

The White Zetsu immediately shook their heads in panic, terrified of disobeying him.

They knew Kakuzu's reputation—and the gruesome fates of the few who had once defied him.

Seeing their terror, Kakuzu nodded in satisfaction. "Good. Just remember… I did warn you."

He moved to the end of the line, holding his golden prize.

Once the White Zetsu had packed up their things, Kakuzu gave the signal.

"Let's move out."

Without hesitation, the White Zetsu began marching forward, carrying all sorts of items—sofas, desks, potted plants, ashtrays. Anything not nailed down was taken.

As for what couldn't be taken...

Kakuzu formed hand seals and chanted,

"Fire Style: Great Fire Dragon Technique!"

A blazing flame shot from his mouth, transforming into a massive, roaring fire dragon. It surged toward the building like a missile.

Earlier, Kakuzu had already drenched the building in oil.

The moment the fire dragon struck, the structure erupted into flames. Smoke and fire billowed into the sky, creating a scene straight out of the apocalypse.

Kakuzu stood at a distance, watching the inferno with pride and satisfaction.

"Haha! That's what you get for messing with the Akatsuki!" he laughed, his voice echoing through the air.

The White Zetsu turned pale.

Their hands trembled as they stared at the burning skyscraper behind them, faces frozen in terror.

This was brutality.
