Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: The Butterfly Effect

"Thank you, boss!" Uchiha Shisui said with heartfelt gratitude, his voice trembling with emotion.

Upon hearing Peter's instructions, Shisui immediately dropped to his knees and began to search Obito's body for any trace of money. His hands worked quickly, but despite searching thoroughly, not a single coin or bill was found. He flipped Obito over, patted down his clothing, even opened his sandals and checked his pockets—but the result was the same.

Just when Shisui was at a complete loss, Peter calmly stepped forward and swiftly placed Obito's limp body into an iron box nearby.

Shisui looked at the iron box with confusion and curiosity. He had no idea what the device was or how it worked, but a strong gut feeling told him that it was extraordinary—perhaps even capable of saving a life. That was enough for him to put his full trust in it, and in Peter.

"Thank you, boss. Once he recovers, I swear I'll repay you every penny of the treatment cost," Shisui said earnestly.

Peter gave a small nod, appearing unbothered by the debt. He had a good understanding of Obito's financial abilities. That guy always had a way of making money, even if it involved robbing a few shinobi along the way. Charging him ten million taels didn't feel like a risk.

However, after hearing Shisui's words, Peter looked at him with increasing curiosity. This kid seemed to have a very deep bond with Obito. But who exactly was he? And why did he refer to Obito as "senior"?

Even more puzzling was Shisui's physical appearance. He, too, had only one eye—just like Obito. But there was one peculiar difference: while Obito was blind in the right eye, Shisui had lost his left.

Right eye…?

Suddenly, Peter froze as a realization slammed into him like a bolt of lightning.

Could it be—?

He leaned in, examining Shisui more carefully now. His expression turned serious, and he scanned the youth from head to toe as though searching for definitive proof.

Then, his eyes widened in complete shock. "You're... Uchiha Shisui?!"

Shisui blinked, somewhat surprised that Peter had figured it out so quickly. He recalled Obito's words from earlier—this boss knew just about everything and had an uncanny ability to see through people.

He smiled faintly and nodded. "Yes. I'm Uchiha Shisui."

Peter narrowed his eyes, still digesting the surprise. Something didn't add up.

According to the story he knew, Shisui had given his left eye to Uchiha Itachi before jumping off a cliff to commit suicide. Yet here he was—alive, and with his left eye still intact.

Not only had he not given his eye to Itachi, but he was now seen with Obito of all people.

This wasn't just a deviation from the original plot. It was a total rewrite. Two characters who had almost no direct connection in the original series were now apparently allies. It was baffling.

Peter ran through the facts again in his mind. No matter how he looked at it, none of this made sense.

After a long pause, Peter asked directly, "Shisui, were your eyes taken by Shimura Danzō?"

Shisui nodded without hesitation. "Yes. My right eye was taken by the Fifth Hokage, Shimura Danzō."

Peter nearly choked. "Wait… what?! The Fifth Hokage is Danzō?!"

His head was spinning. "Hold on, hold on," he muttered. "Has the plot already reached the part where Orochimaru invades Konoha?"

That couldn't be. He had just met Orochimaru a few days ago at his shop, where the Snake Sannin exchanged a secret technique in return for some rare ingredients. Orochimaru seemed focused entirely on cultivation and self-improvement, not plotting against Konoha.

And more importantly, wasn't Tsunade supposed to be the Fifth Hokage after Hiruzen's death? When did Danzō take over?

Peter was now utterly confused. Wasn't Danzō's brief term as Hokage supposed to be more of an interim phase—"Hokage 5.5" at best? Didn't he die during a battle with Uchiha Sasuke by activating a self-destruct seal?

The whole situation smelled like a butterfly effect—a change in the timeline caused by his presence in this world.

His brows furrowed. His knowledge of the original timeline had become almost useless.

"Ahem... Can you tell me how exactly Danzō became Hokage?" Peter asked, trying to piece together the events.

Shisui nodded and began to explain everything that had happened in Konoha.

Peter listened quietly, his expression growing increasingly stunned as the story unfolded.

"So… Hiruzen was removed from office because of corruption and bribery charges... and Danzō got promoted to Hokage thanks to Tsunade's recommendation?" Peter repeated in disbelief.

What kind of twisted plot development was this?

Tsunade, the Legendary Sucker, giving up the Hokage position? Well… maybe it did make sense. She hadn't yet met Naruto, the ultimate motivational speaker. Without him, she probably had no interest in governing the village. And given her gambling problems and emotional trauma, perhaps she simply declined the offer altogether.

That opened the door for someone like Danzō.

Peter sighed deeply. "So the story's already approaching the Uchiha massacre night, huh…"

But now that Obito was injured and Shisui was alive, would Itachi really be able to go through with the plan?

Peter's gaze shifted to Shisui again. If Shisui had survived, perhaps things could be different this time. Maybe the Uchiha clan could avoid its tragic fate.

This world… this version of the Naruto timeline… was getting more chaotic, but also far more interesting.

What Peter didn't know was that at this very moment, the Uchiha coup had already succeeded. Uchiha Fugaku, leader of the clan, was now seated in the Hokage's office, managing the affairs of Konoha.

Suddenly, the sound of clinking metal interrupted his thoughts.

"Jingle bells… jingle bells…"

The noise came from behind. Both Peter and Shisui instinctively turned to look.

Inside the treatment chamber, bullets began to fall from Obito's body, clattering onto the floor. One by one, they dropped from his stomach, as though being forcibly pushed out by some internal force.

Peter's jaw dropped at the sight.

"What the hell?! He had over two kilograms of bullets in his gut and still didn't die? Damn… Hashirama cells are insane!" he exclaimed.

He now understood what had happened. Obito must've seriously pissed someone off—probably a wealthy and influential figure—and got riddled with bullets as a result.

Without the regenerative powers of Hashirama's cells, Obito would've been dead a hundred times over.

But wait… didn't Obito have Kamui, a space-time technique that made attacks pass right through him?

Why didn't he just phase through the bullets?

Peter's expression grew thoughtful. "Could it be… he didn't have time to react?"

That would make sense. Even someone with Kamui couldn't use it if caught off-guard. A concentrated volley of bullets might've hit him before he could activate it.

Peter sighed sympathetically as he looked at Obito, still unconscious inside the pod. "He probably just got overwhelmed before he could dodge…"

Eventually, with a soft hiss, the door of the treatment pod slowly opened.

Obito stepped out, looking exhausted but alive. Gratitude filled his eyes.

"Thank you, boss," he said sincerely.

Peter gave him a small smile. "No problem. That'll be ten million taels."

Obito winced as if in physical pain, but obediently retrieved the money from his Kamui dimension and handed it over.

Peter's smile widened. "Thank you for your patronage!"

At that moment, Shisui ran over with visible excitement. "Senior, you're healed! This is amazing!"

Obito looked at the younger Uchiha and then turned to Peter again.

"Boss, please treat him too," he said, nodding toward Shisui.

Shisui's eyes went wide. "Senior! No! The treatment fee is too expensive. My injuries are nothing—I'll heal on my own!"

Obito placed a firm hand on Shisui's shoulder. "Don't be silly. It's just money. Didn't I tell you before? If you follow me, you'll gain benefits."

Tears welled up in Shisui's lone eye. "Thank you, senior!"

Peter watched the two Uchihas, bewildered.

This was Obito—the same man who murdered his own teacher and his teacher's wife. The same man who launched the Nine Tails attack and brought disaster to Konoha.

Why would someone like that show such kindness to Shisui?

Something was off.

Peter narrowed his eyes again.

Unless… Unless Shisui had used Kotoamatsukami—the Uchiha clan's most powerful genjutsu technique—on Obito.

Wait... that might explain everything.

"Wait a minute," Peter whispered to himself. "Don't tell me… Obito's been hit with Kotoamatsukami?!"
