Chapter 4 - Divine Envoy

"H-He saved the holy maiden!"

"Who's that? How can he fly?"

"Is that man from the sky city?"

"He doesn't look like a local either..."

After a brief silence, the believers broke out into a flurry of discussion.

Just moments ago, the holy maiden had fallen from the cliff, leaving everyone so shocked that their minds went blank, but by the time they regained their senses, the holy maiden had already been rescued.

At this moment, the believers all looked up, their gazes fixed on Lucian, but even after watching for a long time, no one could figure out who he was.

Especially with a face that handsome—he definitely wasn't a local.

Dannalio, on the other hand, stared at the two figures in midair with a dark, gloomy expression.

Just one more second, and the holy maiden would have died from the fall, and then the entire authority to convey the Titans' prophecies would have fallen into her hands.

Yet, out of nowhere, this man appeared and ruined everything.

'If she didn't die by accident, then let her die at the hands of foreign assassins.'

Dannalio immediately executed Plan B and sent someone to inform the assassins lurking in the shadows.

All those assassins were foreigners she had picked up since childhood and trained into loyal deathsworn, so in this way, no one could trace anything back to her.

Meanwhile, Lucian, standing in midair while holding the holy maiden in his arms, was like a messenger of the gods. Coupled with a beam of light shining on one side of his handsome face, he appeared even more divine.

Mortis snapped out of her despair, only to find herself tightly embraced by an unfamiliar man.

For a moment, she didn't know if she should be grateful to be alive or embarrassed by being so close to a man, as all she could feel was a pair of strong arms holding her. Even though she was suspended a hundred meters in the air, she felt strangely safe.

"Who... Who are you? Why did you save me?"

Mortis looked at Lucian with confusion and asked discreetly.

By right, all of the holy maiden's guards in the city had already switched to Dannalio's side, so for someone to appear at the critical moment and save her, he was definitely going up against Dannalio just like her.

However, she had no idea who her savior was.

"My name's Lucian, you can call me a divine envoy."

Lucian looked down at the red-haired beauty in his arms and answered with a gentle smile to calm her.

In his eyes, Mortis was like a startled wildcat, just waiting for someone gentle enough to soothe her mind.

"As for why I saved you, well, it's simply because I love beautiful things... like you. Tell me, would you just watch as something you love gets shattered?"

Of course not.

No one could watch what they loved get destroyed and feel nothing, so at Lucian's question, Mortis gently shook her head, understanding his meaning.

Such a straightforward and cheesy confession—if it came from anyone else, it would have sounded like the shameless seduction of a scumbag, but coming from Lucian, Mortis strangely felt no offense or discomfort at all.

In fact, it was oddly comforting.

Maybe, she thought, it was because Lucian was actually an envoy of the Titans.

"Are you a Titan envoy? If so, please punish those who have lost their respect for the Titans, and guide those who are lost back to the right path."

Mortis pressed her hands together in prayer and pleaded to Lucian from within his arms like a praying maiden. Her eyes shone with such sincerity and honesty that it was impossible to refuse her request.

Lucian obviously would not refuse.

Given that he wanted to approach Tribios, starting with her mother was a good plan.

"Alright, but—"

*Whoosh!* *Whoosh!* *Whoosh!* *Whoosh!*

Before Lucian could finish, a dozen whistling sounds suddenly tore through the air.

Lucian calmly looked up and saw that they were arrows flying toward him and Mortis, clearly meant to kill.

In response, with just a thought, a barrier appeared around Lucian, and the next second, the arrows froze in midair, three meters away from him, as if held by an invisible force.

Seeing this, Mortis felt a storm of emotions—she had never imagined Dannalio would go this far to kill her.

Didn't this mean, even if she hadn't died from the fall, she would have been shot to death by a rain of arrows?

Maybe there were even worse things waiting for her.

If she hadn't met Lucian today, she would surely be dead, and her daughter would be targeted as well.

As she thought about her daughter's possible fate, Mortis grew even angrier.

Of course, she wasn't the only one who was angry, as at this moment, Lucian's smile had vanished.

He glanced at the source of the arrows, then looked at the old woman at the entrance of the temple, his eyes filled with cold, murderous intent.

"Ungrateful wretch. Same kind as the Council of Elders."

Lucian was the type to always take revenge and never wait until the next day, so...

"Disarm!"

*Rip—!*

As soon as Lucian's words fell, in the next moment, Dannalio was stripped clean from head to toe, down to the ribbons on her shoes.

Her clothes seemed to come alive and burst apart on their own!

"L-Lady Dannalio is naked!"

No one knew who shouted it, but that shout immediately drew everyone's attention.

"Shameless!"

"How indecent!"

"It's all black… Huuueegh—!"

In an instant, every eye was on Dannalio—someone even threw up upon seeing her naked body.

An old woman with wrinkled skin, completely exposed and watched by everyone—there could be no greater humiliation.

Dannalio, on the other hand, was still in shock and had no idea what had happened.

She only knew she was now naked.

However, since her two hands weren't enough to cover herself, she could only shield the most sensitive parts.

"Don't look! Nobody can look! If you keep staring, I'll gouge your eyes out!"

Finally snapping out of it, Dannalio screamed at the top of her lungs, her shame so overwhelming she couldn't even maintain her official, dignified persona.

"Pffft—hahaha..."

Mortis burst out laughing in Lucian's arms, clearly enjoying her nemesis's public disgrace.

She couldn't help but marvel that the power of this divine envoy truly was strange—just a word, and a mortal was left with nothing.

Lucian was quite satisfied with the effect of 'Disarm'—even if it was just a generic trick, it was pretty amusing.

"Was she the only one who wanted to kill you?" Lucian asked coldly.

"Mm..." Mortis nodded. "I think the others haven't turned against me openly yet."

"All right. Watch."

Lucian raised his hand, and in the next moment, the power of Abundance gathered into over a dozen seeds.

He then flicked his fingers, shooting the seeds like bullets!

*Whoosh!* *Whoosh!* *Whoosh!*

Green afterimages traced through the air one after another—they were the shadows of the seeds!

In the next second—

*BANG!*

A seed struck Dannalio right between her eyebrows like a bullet, going straight through her head and instantly killing her!

Meanwhile, the other seeds landed on the ground and, within ten breaths, grew into golden-leaved trees. Dannalio's corpse soon hung from a branch of the trees like a piece of fruit—it almost looked like a work of art.

Next came the second corpse, the third, the fourth—fifteen in total!

Needless to say, the other fourteen corpses belonged to Dannalio's assassins—the ones who had shot arrows at Lucian.

Amid all this, the believers could only stand frozen, staring in shock at the dozen golden trees that had suddenly grown from the earth.
