Chapter 254: The May Shop Refresh
Purupurupuru~
"Hey, big brother, it's me," Nojiko's voice came through the Transponder Snail. "I've finished vetting the two Supernovas, just like you asked."
"Oh? And?" Shane asked with a smile.
"That Marine mole, Drake, I pretended to believe his story and let him pass, just like you wanted. As for Bartolomeo... I thought he was just a crazy superfan, but he's actually got a good head on his shoulders. A little training, and he'll be a solid officer. And his Barrier-Barrier Fruit is incredibly powerful."
"He's not one of the bad ones?" Shane asked.
"No. I made sure to ask."
Good.
Shane was relieved. He remembered Bartolomeo from the original timeline, a ruthless killer with the epithet "The Cannibal." But it seemed that, like so many others, his path had been changed by Shane's influence.
"Once you're done there, come back to Crescent Moon Island tomorrow," he said. "It's been a while since we've had a proper party. Zeff is preparing a feast. We'll have a small banquet to welcome our new nakama."
The crew was finally complete. Zoro, Sanji, Smoker's subordinate, and Chopper had all officially joined the main crew. Fujitora, too, had been recruited, though he was currently away, tying up loose ends. And Law, who hadn't wanted to leave his own crew, had been made a commander in the new Combat Corps, retaining a measure of independence.
"Got it!" Nojiko said. "See you tomorrow."
The next morning, Shane woke up, grabbed a cup of black coffee, and sat down to breakfast. He had finally finished all the paperwork that came with being the leader of a burgeoning empire.
"Here you go," Zeff said, setting down a plate of eggs and bacon, and a silver-domed platter. "A little something from Zoro. A thank-you for the sword."
"A gift from Zoro?" Shane was surprised. The kid's destiny had been thoroughly scrambled. With Kuina alive, he had become a two-sword style swordsman. And with Sanji having taken Sandai Kitetsu, Zoro had been stuck with a piece of junk he'd taken off a random pirate. Shane had felt sorry for him and had given him the Sakabatō he'd gotten from the system shop. The kid had been so happy, he hadn't slept for days.
He lifted the dome. Underneath was a strange, orange, spiral-patterned fruit.
"A Devil Fruit?" Shane laughed. "Where did he get this?"
"Said he found it floating in the sea in Paradise," Zeff said with a shrug. "But you know him. Since Kuina is walking the path of a pure swordsman, he wants to do the same. So he was just holding onto it."
"I don't need it either," Shane sighed. He already had three spare fruits. He was about to put it away when Robin walked into the room. "Perfect timing, Robin. Take a look at this."
She examined the fruit. "From the pattern, it's a Zoan type... but a common one. The Rabbit-Rabbit Fruit, Model: Netherland Dwarf."
A rabbit fruit... Shane was a little disappointed. He was about to put it away when he had an idea. He hadn't sacrificed a Devil Fruit yet. Let's see what it's worth.
[You have sacrificed Zoro's Rabbit-Rabbit Fruit. You have gained 4500 points.]
"Not bad," he said with a smile. For an ordinary fruit, that was a pretty good price.
Just then, he remembered... it was the beginning of May. The shop should have refreshed. He opened the market page. Yes! It was his third-favorite time of the month. Time to shop. His balance was at 30,400. More than enough to have some fun.
He took a sip of his coffee and began to browse.
[Geralt's Roach]
[Type: Vehicle]
[Price: 2200 Points]
[Description: A brown horse from the world of The Witcher, loyal companion of the witcher Geralt. Prone to getting stuck in strange places.]
[Seller's Note: I'm so done with this stupid horse. Also, thanks to my pirate-world counterpart for the Fish-Man knees! Now I can jump from a ten-story building and not die!]
Another thank-you note? I really am a benevolent god, Shane thought with a smile. But... a horse? For 2200 points? Gin was cheaper. Pass.
[Flight Technique]
[Type: Training Manual]
[Price: 6000 Points]
[Description: A flying technique from the world of Dragon Ball. Allows the user to manipulate their ki to achieve free flight. Speed and altitude increase with the user's strength.]
[Seller's Note: NO! KRIILLLLIIIIIN!!!!!]
Another one from the Dragon Ball guy? What's going on over there? Shane wondered. But... the ability to fly? In the world of One Piece, that was a game-changer. Moonwalk was exhausting. This was a must-buy.
[18,000 Point Discount Package]
[Type: Special Item]
[Price: 20,000 Points]
[Description: From the world of Warhammer 40K. Open to receive 18,000 points. A limited-time offer!]
[Seller's Note: None. Direct from System.]
Shane almost added it to his cart, then did a double-take. Wait a minute... you're trying to scam me?! He sneered. The Warhammer guys are a bunch of crooks.
[Infinite Mayonnaise]
[Type: Consumable]
[Price: 800 Points]
[Description: From the world of Gintama, the ultimate condiment, sponsored by Toushirou Hijikata. Automatically refills daily. Pairs perfectly with any food, especially rice.]
[Seller's Note: Who would buy this besides Hijikata? Zoro?]
This was the third "infinite" consumable he'd seen. The red bean buns and the sugar-free cola were both very useful. And this one... would go great with the red bean buns. Bought!
[Random Steal Scroll]

[Price: 4000 Points]
[Description: Upon use, allows the user to ignore distance and size to randomly steal any item from any major character in this world. Can be used three times.]
