Hearing Perrene's voice in her ear, Ruby spontaneously turned to her left where Liam was sitting there with a bowl of almost finished instant noodles.
She didn't mention that strange thing Liam, right?
But she could only keep that question to herself. Ruby closed her cellphone and intended to reach for the cup on her right, but stopped when she saw the milk in the cup showing vibrations.
The vibrations that were previously not felt were now starting to be felt very clearly. Liam who was next to her felt the same thing. He left his spoon and immediately got up from his seat.
"Please all visitors to leave immediately!"
The minimarket clerk shouted, filling the entire building.
Ruby immediately put her cellphone away and rushed away. Liam was the last one. The shaking from the ground as if an earthquake was happening.
The warning siren sounded very loudly. In every building, corner of the academy, no one could not hear the sound of the siren.
The minimarket clerk approached Liam and Ruby who were still standing in front of the building.
"Go to the evacuation area. Quickly!"
"What happened?" Ruby snapped as she took off the earphone on her right ear.
"I think there is an unknown anomaly trying to approach the academy. You should save yourselves immediately," the officer explained as he looked around anxiously.
BOOM!
A huge explosion was heard loud enough to make the ground shake even stronger once again. The ground exploded with a cloud of dust that soared ten meters away from where Ruby was standing.
Spontaneously, Ruby protected the convenience store clerk. Then, Liam protected the two of them at the very front. He had to use a barrier with his powers to protect himself and the two people behind him.
[How is it over there, Ruby?]
Ruby touched the earphone in her left ear while straightening her body.
"I think it's very urgent here."
"Let's go now. It's not safe here."
Liam turned his head back, looking at Ruby.
"I agree too."
Ruby slowly pushed the convenience store clerk to walk first, then followed her.
Liam was the last, running behind Ruby while observing his surroundings.
"Stay away from tall buildings as much as possible," Ruby asked the clerk beside her.
Whether he didn't hear it or he was just too scared, the man in the blue and red uniform ran towards the announcement tower that was ten meters high.
"Hey! Not there!"
The first rule of the Gracia Academy: Prioritize civilians.
Ruby was forced to run after her.
"Ruby! Don't go there!"
Liam shouted as a reminder. Trying to stay focused on the footing beneath him, while running after Ruby.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The ground thudded three times, exploding in succession towards the officer and Ruby.
In the last explosion, something came out of the ground, a dark black Wyvern-like creature with both wings spread wide.
It flew quickly towards the minimarket officer while opening its mouth wide. Ruby spontaneously stopped running as the person she wanted to save had already been attacked by the Wyvern and carried away by it.
[The academy is being filled with Wyverns. Ruby, are you okay?]
The voice in her left ear was ignored. The existence of Wyverns was impossible, considering the location of the academy which was in the middle of the capital. And, the many magical barriers surrounding the academy.
"Ruby!"
Liam grabbed Ruby's stomach and immediately carried her away. The Wyvern was not enough with one person. As soon as he finished swallowing one person, he intended to target Ruby as his next target.
Luckily, Liam immediately grabbed Ruby's body before the Wyvern slid down. Still carrying Ruby on his waist, Liam moved as fast as he could.
"Put me down. I can do it myself."
Ruby tried to free herself, but Liam instead changed his carrying position by putting Ruby in both of his hands.
"It'll be faster if I carry you." Liam answered briefly.
He carried Ruby through the path to the training arena. His footsteps were accompanied by panicked screams from the students running towards the academy gate.
The chaotic atmosphere with several Wyverns flying above the academy building, a total of almost six Wyverns flying looking for prey. The masters rushed to secure all their students.
Of all the Wyverns, one of them was chasing Liam. Flying at a height of six meters, while targeting Liam who was under his feet.
How could Wyverns shake the ground?
Wrapping her arms around Liam's neck, Ruby looked around, looking for something that might be the main source of tonight's chaos. However, all that was around her was chaos, damaged buildings, and screams.
"Hold on!"
Liam suddenly tightened his hold. He even cast a protective barrier to protect them, but it was not as strong as Wyvern's legs that kicked him until he hit the dorm building.
A loud bang was heard followed by the dorm wall being destroyed. Liam cast his barrier several times so that his body would not hit too hard. He did it also because he was carrying Ruby with him.
Liam groaned weakly. His back was the first part of his body to hit the wall and it made him short of breath.
"Are you okay, Ruby?" he groaned.
Ruby quickly jumped down, looking worriedly at Liam.
"Look at yourself first, Liam! Your head is bleeding!"
She was ready to extend her hand to help Liam stand up. Although her body was not bleeding, blood was flowing from her brown hair through her temples.
"It doesn't hurt. More importantly-"
Liam pulled Ruby's hand, trying to hide her tiny body behind his back.
The wind felt heavier than usual. A Wyvern was flying very low, above three meters high. The two wings that kept flapping created a strong gust of wind.
"For some reason, I think he's targeting you. Do you have a grudge against him?" Liam stood at the very front with his right hand slightly raised.
"No way."
Ruby answered firmly. No matter what, her act still had to continue. Being the weakest among the weak. To see if she should intervene, she had to wait as long as possible.
But, the Wyvern was really only focused on Ruby. As if the creature had extraordinary sensitivity.
"Then, I'll burn it. Hide behind me."
Liam stretched his hands forward.
Ruby couldn't do anything for now. His current position as the weakest among the weak must be maintained. He must be patient to decide whether to intervene or not. At the same time . . .
Liam said something softly, as if whispering to himself. The last word that was heard clearly was.
"Fire."
Six fireballs floated around the low-flying Wyvern. Then in Liam's right hand, mana gathered right in his fist. A layer of magic circle wrapped his hand, he tried to control his magic, moving it according to his will.
Exploded alternately, in different parts of the Wyvern's body. It was enough to make him step back, although it didn't cause much damage.
His magic was still the same.
