Chapter 212 - Chapter 212: The Fury of Alexander

While Alexander Pierce sat behind his desk, eyes fixed on the live broadcast, waiting to enjoy the spectacle he had orchestrated—

he hadn't expected someone to blow their own cover.

And worse

That idiot had done it on live television, right in front of the entire American public!

Most ordinary people didn't know what the word "Hydra" meant.

Some had never even heard of it.

But to those within S.H.I.E.L.D., the name "Hydra" was burned into their bones.

Hydra had been their sworn enemy for decades.

Alexander Pierce had always had a single goal

To rule the world.

His latest plan against Superman was only one more step toward that ambition.

After all

If he could control Superman the same way they had once controlled the Winter Soldier

or create a being with powers rivaling Superman's

then there would be no one left in the world capable of stopping him.

This entire operation was something Pierce had meticulously planned.

He didn't just send Hydra agents into the field.

He even pulled strings to involve a ranking military general.

As long as Carl (Superman) retaliated against those students or their parents,

the military would immediately intervene.

At that point, Superman could no longer coexist peacefully with humanity

and Hydra would seize the perfect opportunity.

Whether they managed to recruit Superman or extract his blood,

both outcomes would bring Hydra closer to supremacy.

But then that fool confessed everything on camera

And Alexander Pierce's face instantly turned dark.

He wanted nothing more than to have that idiot silenced on the spot.

Because he knew

That single outburst could jeopardize his entire plan.

And worse—Nick Fury would surely notice.

Pierce understood Fury's personality well.

Once Fury started digging, he would not stop until he found something.

『Alexander Pierce』: "It seems… Nick Fury might become an obstacle."

『Alexander Pierce』: "In that case… I'll have to find an opportunity to remove him."

He muttered coldly, watching the broadcast with narrowed eyes.

Meanwhile, at the Stark Tower plaza

Jack, a veteran journalist for a major online media outlet, stood among the crowd.

He'd worked in the industry for over a decade—an old hand who had seen it all.

Earlier that morning, his boss handed him a special assignment:

to cover Superman's "attack" on students from Midtown High School.

The dossier in his hands claimed Superman had assaulted several students—

some even "seriously injured."

Jack hesitated as he read it.

He was middle-aged now.

Superman wasn't just another headline for him—he was the hero of his childhood.

Back in those days, every boy knew Superman's name.

His popularity far surpassed even Captain America's.

Jack had been one of those boys, wide-eyed and hopeful.

And now, reading this report, something in him refused to believe it.

『Jack』: "Superman… wouldn't do something like that."

But looking purely at the evidence on paper

his journalist instincts told him this was a major story.

One that could explode across the nation.

After all, the entire country was still buzzing over Superman and Iron Man.

Videos of the two heroes—Superman fighting monstrous creatures,

Iron Man soaring through the sky—had taken the internet by storm.

So when a negative story about Superman surfaced,

the media frenzy was inevitable.

Jack wrestled with his conscience for a while

but in the end, he accepted the assignment.

Someone else would take it anyway if he didn't.

And at his age, job security came first.

So he grabbed his cameraman and headed for Stark Industries.

But what he didn't expect was

to find so many other reporters already there.

And even more bizarre—crowds of parents and students, all conveniently gathered.

『Jack』: "…This doesn't add up."

His years of experience told him immediately

something about this was off.

This wasn't a natural gathering.

Someone was pulling strings behind the scenes.

Still, since he was already here, there was no turning back.

During interviews, the parents accused Superman of being a bully

a violent threat to their children.

Jack felt a surge of discomfort.

『Jack』: "But Superman saved people—he fought monsters, protected lives."

The middle-aged man he was interviewing turned, giving him a casual look.

『Unknown Man』: "I'm not denying that."

『Unknown Man』: "But saving people once doesn't mean he can't hurt them now."

『Unknown Man』: "Besides, there are so many witnesses here—are you saying they're all lying?"

Jack fell silent.

He couldn't argue without solid evidence.

But the whole scene—the timing, the crowd, the script-like interviews—

made his gut twist in unease.

Then Superman arrived.

His calm explanation reassured Jack somewhat

at least his childhood hero hadn't let him down.

Still, he couldn't shake the worry.

『Jack』: "The people behind this… they're prepared. Even if he tells the truth, will the public believe it?"

The online news had already turned public opinion sharply against Superman.

And then

the situation spiraled out of control.

The man Jack had just interviewed suddenly went berserk

shouting wildly, then blurting out something shocking.

"HYDRA!"

Jack froze.

He'd never heard that name before,

but the way the man said it sent chills down his spine.

『Jack』: "What… what's wrong with this guy?"

Moments later, Superman spoke.

『Superman (Carl)』: "Everyone, please stay calm."

『Superman (Carl)』: "I've moved you to the outskirts of New York City—this is the nearest safe zone."

『Superman (Carl)』: "You interfered with Stark Industries' operations, so I had no choice but to relocate you."

『Superman (Carl)』: "As for those Hydra agents…"

『Superman (Carl)』: "My apologies."

Before anyone could process what was happening

A blinding crimson light erupted.

The middle-aged man who had outed himself as a Hydra agent

was engulfed in red energy

and vanished instantly,

leaving not even ash behind.
