Chapter Forty: Cameras and Gala
"So…it begins…"
The gala was in full bloom. Strings of lights circled around the pillar.
There was a golden carpet that stretched before the grand doors of the old city opera house.
The soft sound of violin music floated from the balcony above, and the flash of cameras were capturing everything like stars.
Maxx stepped out of the car first, fixing his cuffs. "Showtime," he nodded with a grin, turning back to offer Isabelle his hand.
Isabelle took it, stepping into the lights with calm grace.
This wasn't her first gala; so the impression didn't really matter.
To avoid loud and huge attention, Isabelle decided to wear a long silver Armani gown that was shining like moonlight.
The dress was simple, elegant, and hugged her frame without being noisy.
Her crimson hair was tied into a neat bun, with strands curled softly around her face. Her makeup was light but flawless.
Isabelle didn't smile, but she held her head high.
