Chapter 128 - A Reunion with Vali

Chapter 127 – A Reunion with Vali

Underworld · Devil Castle · Lilith City

The chaos stirred up by Loki had finally come to an end.

The battle concluded with a complete victory for Shin Akira, while Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri reaped significant rewards.

Especially Rias—within a single stroke, she had managed to recruit two incredible individuals: Hati, the offspring of Fenrir, and Rossweisse, a Valkyrie from Norse mythology.

They immediately filled the vacant Pawn and Rook positions in her Evil Piece set.

As it stood, Rias's peerage now included: one Queen, two Rooks, one Knight, two Bishops, and one Pawn. That left one Knight and four Pawns still open.

Meanwhile, Akira's name was echoing all throughout the Underworld.

The heir to Enkidu's power—the mythical being of Mesopotamian legend—and the wielder of the legendary Noble Phantasm, Chains of Heaven. He was also the host of the Longinus-class Sacred Gear, Boosted Gear, known far and wide as the Red Dragon Emperor.

Now, every title and tale about him was being magnified by nobles and the Underworld media alike.

Akira was well aware—this was the handiwork of Sirzechs, Ajuka, and Serafall Leviathan.

As the future son-in-law of the Gremory family, Akira's growing fame automatically translated into political capital for them. Naturally, they would make sure his reputation soared sky-high.

Sirzechs did it for his little sister, Rias.

Ajuka Beelzebub, out of gratitude for Akira exposing Diodora Astaroth's treachery.

And Serafall? Well, her little sister Sona had managed to recruit one of Fenrir's offspring thanks to Akira's help.

With three Maou actively promoting his name, Akira's rise in status was unstoppable.

At the same time, Rias's Coming-of-Age Ceremony had concluded perfectly.

Her debut Rating Game, a joint battle alongside Sona's team, became a legendary spectacle forever etched in Underworld history.

The match officially ended in a "draw"—a political compromise agreed upon by both the Gremory and Sitri families.

It was the most beneficial outcome for all involved.

Everything seemed to be heading in a positive direction.

…But for Akira himself, things were a bit frustrating.

His Template Inheritance had reached 98%—just 2% away from completion. But thanks to the nonstop string of incidents, he hadn't had a single chance to wrap it up.

And now that everything had settled down… he was out of suitable targets to continue the process.

That's when a familiar voice called out to him.

"Hey, you still have Fenrir's head, right?"

Azazel, the former Governor-General of Grigori, casually strolled into view.

"Yeah, I kept it," Akira replied without hesitation.

The most dangerous part of Fenrir was its fangs. So after slaying the beast, Akira had sealed the head away in his personal storage, leaving the body behind on the battlefield.

"In that case, mind letting me have a few of those God-Slaying Fangs? Ten should do."

"…Ten?"

Akira turned toward him with a flat expression.

"You want ten of Fenrir's fangs?"

"Of course! That's top-tier material! With my tech, I could make some seriously busted Artificial Sacred Gears!"

Akira gave a small nod. "I believe you."

But his tone carried no approval—only pure sarcasm.

Azazel instantly caught the mockery.

Sure, his reputation as a Sacred Gear researcher was unmatched… but he also had a long record of wild experiments that often ended in failure.

"…What's that supposed to mean? You don't trust me?"

"I said I believe you," Akira replied, expression deadpan.

Azazel sighed. He wanted to argue, but couldn't find the words.

"Come on, just gimme ten."

"You're kidding, right?"

"Excuse me?"

"Get out."

"…I'm your teacher, you know?"

"Out."

"I—"

Before he could finish, Chains of Heaven erupted from Akira's side and instantly wrapped around Azazel's body, flinging him out of the room like a sack of garbage.

Something like a god-slaying fang wasn't something you could just casually ask for. Even Fenrir didn't have many of them—Azazel's request was completely outrageous.

Despite feeling a little humiliated, Azazel didn't come back.

He already knew from Rias and the others—Loki and Fenrir had both been taken down by Akira himself.

More importantly, Akira's Balance Breaker had now evolved into Juggernaut Drive, a transformation that exuded such power it even made Azazel feel uneasy.

When you're dealing with someone who could probably wipe you out on a whim… you learn to be careful.

Just then—Akira felt a magical fluctuation.

An aura he recognized all too well.

Without wasting a second, he left the castle.

Deep within the forest on the edge of devil territory, four figures were waiting.

Standing before them was a silver-haired young man—calm yet piercing eyes watching the skies.

It was Vali Lucifer, wielder of the Sacred Gear Divine Dividing—the White Dragon Emperor.

By his side stood three companions: Kuroka, the former Nekoshou devil; Bikou, descendant of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King; and Arthur Pendragon, the heir to the legendary King of Britain.

"You sure he'll come?" Bikou asked, lounging lazily on a tree branch.

Though he looked human, his movements still echoed those of a beastly monkey spirit.

"He'll come," Vali replied confidently.

With Akira's sensory abilities, there was no way he wouldn't notice them.

Kuroka simply stared off toward the Devil Castle, her expression unreadable.

Arthur stood silently, hands resting on the hilt of his sword. Not a single emotion flickered on his face—as if he were waiting for a cue.

"…He's here."

Vali looked up.

A figure streaked through the sky at blinding speed—cloak fluttering, magical energy spiraling around him.

Akira landed without a sound, his eyes locking directly onto his eternal rival.

Their gazes met—sharp and silent.

Two sides of a myth. Red and white. Power and equilibrium.

"You've gotten stronger," Vali said plainly. "With Juggernaut Drive, even Fenrir was no match for you."

"You really came to the Underworld, huh, Vali."

"I was originally after Fenrir… but you got to him first. So that plan's scrapped."

"You wanted to tame a beast that arrogant?"

"Loki managed to."

"He created it. Of course he had a method."

"I had one too."

Akira gave a short nod. No point arguing now that Fenrir was gone.

"So? What's your reason for seeking me out?"

"It's not me who wants to see you," Vali replied, his gaze shifting.

Akira followed his line of sight.

Up in the tree, a woman stood elegantly—her presence both soothing and undeniably alluring.

She wore a loosely draped black kimono, and her very aura seemed to ripple with serene seduction. Not because she was trying to be captivating… but because she simply was.
