Chapter 126 – The Norse Folks Are Surprisingly Generous, Huh?
After storing Fenrir's head inside his personal subspace, Akira finally turned back to regroup with Rias and the others.
In the distance, the corpse of Midgardsormr—the legendary World Serpent—lay motionless on scorched earth.
But since it was only a duplicated projection and not the true Midgardsormr, its defeat wasn't all that surprising.
What truly caught Akira's eye were the two wolf cubs—Hati and Sköll, direct descendants of Fenrir, each bearing the god-slaying fangs. The young wolves had already been subdued and securely sealed.
"Akira! You're not hurt, right?" shouted Akeno and Rias in unison.
Both women rushed over, their hands gently brushing over his body with worried expressions. Their movements were tender—familiar in a way that came naturally for Akeno, given the almost married dynamic she had with him.
But with Rias… things were still somewhere between tension and uncertainty. Which made her gesture feel a little more daring than usual.
"I'm fine. The fight's over," Akira said calmly. "By the way… these two wolf pups—what are you planning to do with them?"
"They're originally from Norse territory… it's only right we return them," Rias replied, although her voice carried a hint of hesitation.
"Return them? Why?" Akira shrugged nonchalantly. "We fought them. We won. Why give them back? You haven't even filled out your Evil Piece set, have you? Reincarnate one. Let Sona take the other."
"Eh… Is that really okay?"
Uncertainty flashed in Rias's eyes. These were Fenrir's children, raised under the Norse pantheon. Keeping them felt… a little like stealing someone else's property.
"What's not okay about it? I took down Fenrir for them. The least they could do is compensate us. This was their problem—we solved it. Even part-timers get paid, you know."
"…In that case—"
"Don't overthink it. Just do it," Akira cut her off casually, brushing away her doubts like they were dust in the wind.
While Rias was still hesitating, Sona Shitori—also known as Sona Sitri—made her move without delay.
Saying nothing, she stepped toward Sköll, pulled out an Evil Piece from her reserves—a Rook—and initiated the Devil Reincarnation Ritual.
A surge of energy poured into the massive wolf's body.
The process was swift. In mere seconds, the piece fused with Sköll completely.
From that moment on, Fenrir's son officially became a Rook under Sona Sitri's peerage.
Rias blinked in surprise but quickly collected herself.
If Sona could do it, then there was no reason for her to hold back.
Rias approached Hati, pulling out her Pawn pieces from storage.
One piece…
Two…
Three…
Four…
It took four full Pawn pieces to complete the reincarnation. But eventually, Hati became a Pawn under Rias Gremory.
Not far off, Saji Genshirou—Sona's ever-loyal subordinate—watched in disbelief.
He himself had needed four Pawn pieces to be reincarnated. And now a wolf got the same amount? That just felt… unfair.
Sona let out a small, awkward smile.
To be fair, she'd originally planned to use Pawn too. But with five of her Pawns already used up, and knowing there was no way Fenrir's son was worth only three, she chose to go with Rook instead.
Rias, on the other hand, looked genuinely pleased.
With her Coming-of-Age Ceremony drawing near, recruiting Hati into her peerage was a major accomplishment.
She didn't yet know that her older brother—Sirzechs Lucifer—had already prepared another Rook candidate for her as a present.
Then suddenly, the sky trembled.
A massive blue magical circle shimmered above, inscribed with Norse runes.
From within echoed a deep, hoarse voice—the voice of the Supreme God of Asgard.
"Child of the Red Dragon Emperor. Mjölnir, the Hammer of Thunder, has been sent. Retrieve it."
A colossal object descended from the sky.
A giant hammer dropped through the magic circle, crashing into the ground with such force that it formed a crater.
Everyone stood frozen, their faces stiff with disbelief.
Especially Rossweisse, the former Valkyrie. She didn't even know what to say.
Her god… was embarrassing.
The battle had just ended—and Mjölnir was being delivered now? That wasn't "fashionably late"—it was just plain late.
But Akira didn't react.
He didn't even bother approaching the weapon.
From the distance, several more rune circles lit up.
The group led by Sairaorg Bael finally arrived on the scene.
"Akira! Rias! We've come to—"
His sentence trailed off.
The sight before him left Sairaorg speechless.
Charred battlefield.
A massive crater stretching across the horizon.
The body of a giant dragon lay still in the distance.
Rias and Sona stood with calm composure, each accompanied by a legendary wolf now serving under their command.
And Akira stood alone amid the ruins—his aura still radiating the remains of terrifying power, even though his magic reserves had clearly been drained dry.
"Uhh… So… it's over already?"
Sairaorg scratched his head awkwardly, unsure how to respond.
"Yeah. It's done," Rias answered bluntly.
"…Right."
Sairaorg had no comeback.
But his eyes on Akira changed.
This man… was far more dangerous than he'd imagined.
Before long, with the battle truly concluded, a cleanup unit from the Underworld arrived to restore the battlefield.
Back at the Devil Castle, the atmosphere grew tense.
The Supreme Norse God—Odin—had been staring at Akira with sharp, intense eyes from the moment they arrived.
Loki, their trickster god, had been defeated.
Fenrir, the monster of prophecy, was slain.
And now… both of Fenrir's children had been recruited into the peerage of devils.
This… was a serious blow.
Odin had long set his sights on Hati and Sköll. They weren't just heirs to god-slaying potential—they were weapons of mass destruction waiting to be forged.
And now… they were gone.
On the other hand, Sirzechs and Serafall Leviathan couldn't have looked more pleased.
Their little sisters had both secured powerful additions to their peerages.
Sirzechs especially was smiling like a proud older brother. As a Maou, he may have been calm and composed—but deep down, he was always looking out for Rias.
Watching her grow stronger made him happy.
And as he glanced at Odin, he thought to himself:
"One Valkyrie was already generous. Now Hati too? The Norse really are too kind."
Good thing Odin couldn't read minds.
Because if he knew what Sirzechs was thinking, he might've declared a full-scale holy war right then and there—complete with a Supreme Divine Proclamation.
Thankfully, things were quickly defused.
When Azazel arrived and offered Odin an exclusive "nightlife entertainment package" from the Human World—something called "Comprehensive Health Services"—the old god instantly forgot all about revenge.
Azazel and Odin… truly a match made in heaven. Two ancient beings from different worlds, united by a shared love of Earth's most risqué pleasures.
Out of all the options available to them, they still chose humanity's nightlife.
Whether to laugh or cry… no one could tell.
