Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: Qian Xunji, Limit Douluo

Chapter 138: Qian Xunji, Limit Douluo

At the center of the Douluo Hall stood a towering ten-meter-tall golden statue. Six angelic wings spread from its back, and it held a massive golden sword pointing toward the heavens. A faint golden flame seemed to swirl around the sword, giving the entire statue an overwhelming aura of divine might. Around it, hundreds of plaques engraved with the names of Titled Douluo lay silently suppressed beneath its presence.

Qian Xunji knelt quietly before the angel statue, bathed in a soft golden light like a luminous veil draped over his body. Part of it flowed into him.

"Has your heart calmed?" Qian Daoliu's majestic and steady voice echoed through the hall.

Qian Xunji remained motionless, like a statue himself, kneeling silently without speaking.

"Descendant of the Angel Clan, the trial begins!"

Qian Daoliu opened his arms, and golden light surged outward. The light surrounding the hall intensified, especially around the massive angel statue. The golden sword it held erupted with blazing flames, filling the space with an indescribable divine atmosphere.

"Open your eyes."

With a wave of his hand, golden flame burst from the statue's sword, enveloping Qian Xunji completely.

As the golden light danced, Qian Xunji's body rose slowly, suspended within the radiant glow. Before him, eight golden screens gradually appeared, each depicting angels—some with six wings spread, some holding scepters or shields, and some locked in combat.

The Angel God Trials were similar to the Sea God Trials, but only those with the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul could participate. For the past ten thousand years, no matter how talented the candidate, the best they could achieve was the Angel Eight Trials. Those slightly less gifted would receive the Angel Seven Trials—equivalent to the top trials on Sea God Island.

"Angel Eight Trials, huh?"

Qian Daoliu looked thoughtful. Based on his own knowledge and ancestral records, Qian Xunji should have qualified only for the Seven Trials. Did he reach the Eight because of his high cultivation, or due to enhancement from celestial herbs?

Normally, Angel Clan descendants awakened the full Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul after breaking through to Titled Douluo before taking the trials. Qian Xunji was the only one to attempt them at level 97.

Qian Xunji stared at the eight golden screens. Each bore a different image of the angel's power. Qian Daoliu waved his hand, and the screens merged into a single golden card that floated into Qian Xunji's hands. The back depicted a six-winged angel with empty hands.

First Angel Trial: Within one year, circle Spirit Hall from a height of 1,000 meters in under five minutes. Do not touch any clouds during the flight.

Qian Xunji blinked. That was the trial?

Qian Daoliu explained, "Xunji, the Angel Trials test attack, defense, and speed. Simply put, they evaluate mastery over the angel martial soul and soul bones."

Qian Xunji instantly understood. The trial was a speed test. Flying a thousand meters above the city without touching clouds tested both agility and reaction time—key to mastering aerial combat. Angels were rulers of the skies. To battle effectively, they had to first master flight.

He was impressed. The Angel Trials were clearly designed to push the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul to its full potential.

Qian Daoliu knew the full scope of the eight trials. The first six tested mastery over the martial soul and soul bones. The seventh trial required withstanding an hour of combat against the Angel God's Great Priest—earning the Judgment Soul Bone and the Heaven Measuring Sword, and reaching level 99.

Qian Xunji stepped out of the Douluo Hall. The sky was thick with clouds, far denser than usual—nearly blanketing all of Spirit Hall. Yet oddly, the city remained brightly lit, as if unaffected.

He spread his six wings and shot into the sky like a golden meteor.

Qian Daoliu watched his ascent and nodded slightly. Qian Xunji's control over the angel martial soul was already refined. He should finish the first trial quickly. But what about the rest?

The upcoming trials would involve the angel soul bones. Qian Xunji was missing only a leg bone. Unlike angel bones, others couldn't be removed at will. Would he be forced to "overlook" certain conditions?

Three months later—Tianshui Academy.

The massive schoolyard was packed early in the morning, mostly with young women in elegant aquamarine uniforms. Their beauty and presence could make any warm-blooded man believe he was dreaming.

Among them were a few students in bright red uniforms from Blazing Fire Academy. Judging by the badges on their chests, today was a joint training exchange.

At the center of the field stood fourteen people—combatants for today's sparring match between Blazing Fire Academy and Tianshui Academy.

On the sidelines stood a tall, golden-haired man in a sleek platinum robe. Handsome, refined, and in his mid-twenties, his appearance would've drawn every gaze—if not for the fact that none of the girls even noticed him.

That man was Qian Xunji. Having completed the first six Angel Trials, he had come to Tianshui Academy to visit his son. He had subtly distorted the light around him with soul power to remain unnoticed.

The first six trials had posed little difficulty for him. The seventh, however—lasting an hour against Qian Daoliu going all-out—was a daunting task. That old man had long awaited a chance to beat him down. With a half-divine weapon comparable to Bo Saixi's scepter and superior soul ring configuration, he hadn't yet attempted it.

He had taken a detour to Soto City. In another month, the Heaven Dou Imperial Team would arrive at the Great Spirit Arena. The Shrek Seven would be the same Shrek Seven. He was pleased that Ning Rongrong hadn't been taken away by Ning Fengzhi—proof that his plans were on track.

What surprised him, however, was Tang Hao personally training the Shrek Seven. Compared to Yu Xiaogang's training methods, Tang Hao's were leagues beyond.

Every hour of the day was scheduled. Morning: distance running in Zhao Wuji's gravity field. Midday: waterfall meditation at Shrek's own training site. Night: combat practice at Soto's Spirit Arena.

As for Yu Xiaogang, he had become the team's cook—preparing breakfast every morning.
