Chapter 141 - Chapter 140: Offerings That Please the Lord

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, "Command the Israelites to present to Me My food offerings, made by fire—a sweet aroma that pleases Me. Be careful to offer them at their appointed times."

Each day, two male lambs a year old without defect were to be offered—one in the morning and the other at twilight. With each lamb came a grain offering of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with a quarter of a hin of pure oil, and a drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine poured out to the Lord. This daily burnt offering had been set at Mount Sinai as a continual sacrifice.

On the Sabbath day, two extra lambs were to be offered, together with their grain and drink offerings—besides the daily offering. The Sabbath sacrifice was a reminder of rest and holiness before the Lord.

At the beginning of every month, the Israelites were to present a larger burnt offering to mark the new moon: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect. Each bull was to be offered with a grain offering of three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, each ram with two-tenths, and each lamb with one-tenth. A half hin of wine was poured with each bull, a third with each ram, and a quarter with each lamb as a drink offering. Along with these came one male goat as a sin offering to make atonement for the people.

Then the Lord reminded Moses about the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. On the fourteenth day of the first month, the Lord's Passover was to be observed. The next day began a seven-day feast where the people ate bread made without yeast. On the first and seventh days, the people were to hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Each day of that week, they were to offer two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old, all without defect, along with their grain and drink offerings. In addition, one male goat was to be offered daily as a sin offering. These were to be offered alongside the continual burnt offering each morning and evening.

When the time came for the Feast of Weeks—the day of firstfruits—the people were to bring new grain to the Lord. On that day, they were also to hold a sacred assembly and do no ordinary work. They were to offer two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs, together with their grain and drink offerings, plus one male goat for atonement. All of these were to be without defect, for the Lord deserved only the best.
