Chapter 105 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE: The Guardian Of Agwankaya

The figure's hand gesture seemed to trigger a reaction in the chamber. The walls began to shift and change, revealing hidden passageways and secret doors. The group realized that they were not alone in the chamber, and that there were others waiting for them.

The figure began to move towards them, its eyes fixed on the group with an unnerving intensity. "You have something that doesn't belong to you," it said, its voice low and menacing. "Something that is mine."

Mike's grip on the artifact tightened. "We're not giving it up," he said, his voice firm.

The figure smiled, its eyes glinting with amusement. "We'll see about that," it said.

With a wave of its hand, the chamber erupted into chaos. The group found themselves surrounded by shadowy figures, all of whom seemed to be intent on taking the artifact from them.

The group fought bravely, using all their skills and cunning to fend off the attackers. But they were vastly outnumbered, and it seemed like the shadowy figures would eventually overwhelm them.

Just when it seemed like all was lost, Avovome remembered something. "The artifact's power," it shouted to Mike. "Use it to defend us!"

Mike nodded, focusing all his energy on the artifact. Suddenly, a blast of energy shot out, repelling the attackers and giving the group a chance to regroup.

As they caught their breath, the group realized that they had to deal with the aftermath of Amina's near-consumption by the dark shape. Amina herself seemed shaken, and the group knew that they had to be careful to avoid another incident.

The figure that emerged from the shadows began to circle around them, its eyes fixed on the artifact with an unnerving intensity. "You shouldn't have come here," it said. "You don't understand the power that you're dealing with."

Mike's grip on the artifact tightened. "We're not going to back down," he said. "We're going to see this through to the end."

The figure smiled, its eyes glinting with amusement. "We'll see about that," it said.

With that, the chamber seemed to darken and twist around them, and the group knew that they were in for a fight.

The figure began to chant in a language that sounded like the rustling of dry leaves. The air around them grew colder, and the group could feel a dark energy building up. Suddenly, the figure raised its hands, and a wave of shadowy tendrils shot towards the group.

The group dodged and weaved, trying to avoid the tendrils. But they seemed to be everywhere, wrapping around their arms and legs, trying to pull them down. Mike used the artifact's power to blast away some of the tendrils, but there were too many of them.

Just when it seemed like all was lost, TJ remembered the words of the faces in the river. "The heart of Agwankaya is not specific, it's not known ordinary," he said. "When you get there, you will know with the artifact."

TJ focused his mind on the artifact, trying to understand what the faces had meant. Suddenly, he felt a surge of energy flow through his body. "I think I know what to do," he said.

With newfound confidence, TJ began to chant along with the figure. But instead of matching the figure's dark energy, he used the artifact's power to create a counter-resonance. The two energies clashed, causing the chamber to shake and tremble.

The group took advantage of the distraction to break free from the shadowy tendrils. They joined TJ in it chanting, using the artifact's power to amplify their voices. The dark energy began to recede, and the figure stumbled backward, its eyes widening in surprise.

The figure began to laugh, its voice echoing off the walls of the chamber. "You think you can defeat me?" it said. "I am the guardian of the heart of Agwankaya. I have been here for centuries, waiting for those who would dare to challenge me."

Mike stepped forward, the artifact's power coursing through him. "We are not here to challenge you," he said. "We are here to get answers and knowledge to proceed to where the creature who sent us to."

The figure's laughter grew louder, its eyes glinting with amusement. "You think I'll let you have what you're looking for?" it said. "There's no way I'll ever let you get what you came seeking right here in Agwankaya. It's meant to be buried forever."

The figure sneered. "You shouldn't have come here. You'll never leave this place alive."

With a swift motion, the figure lunged at Mike, its hands grasping for the artifact. But Mike was ready. Using the artifact's power, he deflected the figure's attack and countered with a blast of energy.

The figure stumbled backward, its eyes flashing with anger. But it didn't fall. Instead, it began to change, its body contorting and twisting until it was no longer recognizable.

The group gasped in shock as the figure's transformation continued. It was now a massive, twisted creature, its body a mass of writhing tendrils and bulging, pulsing growths.

"What is that?" Bisola whispered, her voice trembling with fear.

Mike's eyes narrowed. "I don't know," he said. "But I think it's the true form of the guardian."

The creature let out a deafening roar, and the group knew that they were in for the fight of their lives.
