Chapter 97 - CHAPTER NINETY SEVEN: Consumed By The Tree

The tree's eyes seemed to burn with an inner fire as it gazed at the group, its expression twisted into a cruel smile. "You will pay for your transgression," it hissed, its voice like a rustling of dry leaves. "You will suffer for your arrogance."

The group's hearts sank as they heard the tree's words, their minds racing with fear. They knew that they were in grave danger, and that the tree's power was beyond anything they could imagine.

The tree's roots seemed to be tightening their grip, constricting the group's movements. They struggled to break free, but it was no use.

The tree's face seemed to be inches from theirs, its hot breath washing over them like a wave. The group could feel its malevolent energy, its power coursing through the roots that held them in place.

"What will you do to us?" Mike asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The tree's smile grew wider, its eyes glinting with malevolence. "I will make you an example," it hissed. "I will show all who dare to challenge my power what happens to those who defy me."

The group's eyes were wide with fear as they gazed up at the tree. They knew that they were in for a world of pain and suffering, and that their fate was all but sealed.

The tree's roots seemed to be pulling them closer, dragging them towards its trunk. The group struggled to resist, but it was no use. They were being drawn inexorably towards the tree's dark, gaping mouth.

As they were pulled closer, the group could see the tree's mouth in greater detail. It was a twisted, nightmarish opening, filled with jagged teeth and dark, recesses. The group knew that they were staring into the very abyss of horror, and that their fate was all but sealed.

The tree's voice was like a rustling of dry leaves as it spoke again. "You should have stayed out of this," it hissed. "You should have left the trees alone. But now, it's too late. You will pay for your transgression, and you will suffer for eternity."

The tree's roots pulled Bisola closest to its mouth, and with a swift motion, it engulfed her. The group's screams were muffled as the tree's mouth closed around her, and she disappeared into the darkness within. The tree's trunk seemed to ripple and flex as it swallowed, its bark glistening with a sticky, resinous substance.

Next, the roots pulled Avovome towards the tree's mouth. Avovome struggled and kicked, but it was no use. The tree's grip was too strong, and it pulled it closer and closer until it was swallowed whole.

The group watched in horror as their friends were consumed by the tree. They struggled and kicked, but the roots held them fast. TJ was next, his eyes wide with fear as he was pulled towards the tree's gaping mouth.

As the tree continued to swallow the group members one by one, its trunk seemed to grow larger and more twisted.

The group's screams grew fainter and fainter as they were consumed by the tree. Mike, Amina, and Gidado were the last ones left, their eyes fixed on each other in terror.

The tree's roots pulled Mike towards its mouth, and he let out a blood-curdling scream as he was swallowed whole. Amina and Gidado were the last two left, their eyes locked on each other in a desperate bid for survival.

But it was no use. The tree's roots pulled Amina towards its mouth, and she disappeared into the darkness within. Gidado was the last one left, his eyes wide with fear as he gazed up at the tree.

The tree's roots pulled him closer, and Gidado let out a scream of terror as he was swallowed whole. The tree's mouth closed around him, and he was gone.

The tree stood tall and silent, its trunk pulsing with a malevolent energy. It had consumed the group, and it had emerged victorious. The landscape seemed to darken, as if the very presence of the tree was sucking the light out of the world.

The tree stood motionless for a moment, its trunk still pulsing with energy. Then, with a slow, deliberate movement, it began to sink back into the earth, taking its dark, twisted form out of sight. The roots that had bound the group released their grip, now limp and lifeless as they too retreated into the ground. The landscape seemed to sigh, as if it too had been holding its breath in anticipation of the tree's next move.

As the tree disappeared, the air seemed to clear of its malevolent presence. The sky lightened, and the sun shone down once more, casting a warm glow over the landscape. But the memory of the tree's horror lingered, a dark and foreboding presence that seemed to seep into the very bones of the earth.

The silence that followed was oppressive, a heavy blanket that suffocated the landscape. It was as if the tree's departure had left a void, a sense of unease that lingered long after it was gone. And in the darkness of the tree's interior, something stirred...
