Chapter 49 - CHAPTER FORTY NINE: Transcendence Of Terror

Gidado's body convulsed, his limbs twisting in ways that seemed impossible. Energy crackled around him, and his eyes blazed with an otherworldly light. The group stumbled backward, awestruck and terrified by the transformation unfolding before them.

Amina's voice was a distant whisper. "What's happening to him?"

Avovome's flames danced wildly, casting eerie shadows on the walls. "The artifact's power... it's consuming him," it roared, its voice like a primal scream.

The group's fear turned to panic. They knew they had to intervene, but they were frozen in place, unsure of what to do.

TJ's voice cut through the chaos. "We need to snap him out of it! Someone, do something!"

Mike lunged forward, grabbing Gidado's arm. "Gidado, snap out of it, man!"

Gidado's response was a guttural growl, his eyes flashing with energy. He shook Mike off, his strength superhuman.

The group exchanged desperate glances. They knew they had to act fast, or risk losing Gidado to the artifact's power.

In a burst of determination, Amina charged forward, her sword flashing in the dim light. "We'll get through this together," she shouted, her voice a beacon of hope.

But Gidado's transformation was almost complete. His body was now a conduit for the artifact's dark energy, and the group knew they were running out of time.

Gidado's transformation reached its climax. His body glowed with an intense, pulsating energy that seemed to be tearing him apart from the inside out. The group shielded their eyes, unable to look directly at the spectacle.

The air was charged with electricity, and the sound of crackling energy filled the air. The group's skin tingled with the power emanating from Gidado's body.

Suddenly, the energy dissipated, and Gidado stood before them, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. His gaze swept across the group, and they felt a shiver run down their spines.

Gidado's voice was low and menacing, his words dripping with an ancient, malevolent power. "I see," he said, his gaze fixed on the group. "You are but mere mortals, unworthy of the power that now courses through my veins."

The group's hearts sank. They knew they were in grave danger. Gidado's transformation had changed him, and they were no longer sure if he was still one of them.

Amina took a step forward, her hand extended in a calming gesture. "Gidado, it's us. Your friends. We're here for you."

Gidado's gaze fell on Amina, and for a moment, the group thought they saw a flicker of recognition. But it was quickly extinguished, replaced by a cold, calculating gaze.

"You are not my friends," Gidado said, his voice devoid of emotion. "You are but obstacles to be eliminated."

The group's instincts screamed at them to flee, but their feet seemed rooted to the spot. They knew they had to act fast, or risk being destroyed by the being that was once their friend.

Gidado's eyes seemed to bore into their souls, his gaze like a cold, calculated assessment of their worthiness to live. The group's hearts pounded in their chests, their minds racing with fear and uncertainty.

Avovome's flames danced wildly, casting eerie shadows on the walls. "We can't let him do this," it growled, its voice low and menacing.

TJ's face was set in a determined expression. "We have to stop him. He's not Gidado anymore."

Amina's voice was calm, but laced with a hint of desperation. "We need to be careful. We don't know what he's capable of."

Gidado's gaze fell on Amina, and he took a step closer. "You," he said, his voice dripping with malevolence. "You are the one who claims to know me. But do you truly?"

The group exchanged nervous glances. They knew they had to act fast, or risk being consumed by Gidado's newfound power.

Mike's hand went to his sword, his fingers wrapping tightly around the hilt. "We can't let you hurt anyone else," he said, his voice firm.

Gidado's gaze swept across the group, and he smiled. "You think you can stop me?" he said, his voice dripping with contempt. "I am the vessel for the artifact's power. I am unstoppable."
