Eleanor's POV
"Well," I continued, holding their look, "you have another chance now. To prove me wrong."
A sharp, choked sound made me glance down. "You are sure of that?" Keith rasped, his gaze searching mine. "You're still recovering from what happened at the tracks."
"I'm completely fine now," I said, the truth of it settling in my bones. The exhaustion was gone, replaced by a low, buzzing energy. "And I don't want to go home and have the memories of what happened there fill my head and disturb my dreams." I looked at each of them, letting them see the raw honesty in my eyes. "I'd rather be thinking of you. Of your touch. Of the way you're all looking at me right now."
It was true. I needed the distraction, desperately. But more than that, I had missed them. Their closeness. Their hands on my skin. It felt like it had been a lifetime since I'd been touched.
It has been a few days, Beatrice chimed in, her tone dry. With Keith. In the movie room.
