It was already late afternoon when Alaric finally ended their personal training. Ayesha was doubled over, panting, her chest rising and falling heavily.
"I'm too sticky," she complained, wiping the sweat from her face. Her clothes clung to her skin, soaked through.
"Come," Alaric said with a wide smile, extending his hand to her. "There's a falls nearby. Do you want to try it?"
"A waterfall?" she asked, placing her hand in his. He pulled her gently back to her feet.
"Yes," he confirmed. "I'll shift, and you can ride on my back. We'll get there much faster."
Ayesha's eyes lit up, and she nodded without hesitation. It had been so long since she had seen a waterfall up close.
The thought made her heart quicken—she longed to bathe in its cool rush, to feel something refreshing wash away the sweat and heat. Beaches, hot springs, rivers… so many places she had only dreamed of visiting. A waterfall sounded like the perfect start.
