Leyton followed Cattleya to Frank's laboratory, located at the very bottom of the ship's hold.
The two stopped at the entrance of Frank's laboratory simultaneously. Cattleya turned to Leyton beside her and said, "Frank should still be experimenting. You can go in and find him yourself."
"Uh, still..."
"Al? My friend, you've finally returned to sea!"
The laboratory door opened, and Frank emerged, dragging an exaggerated snakeskin bag behind him. He looked at Leyton with surprise, his exclamation interrupting Leyton's unfinished words.
Leyton forced a polite smile and nodded slightly, "You're still not resting this late?"
"Of course not. To cultivate crops that adapt to Dark environments, I've been experimenting at night and resting during the day recently."
"However, cultivating crops that use the flesh and blood of corrupted monsters as nutrients, while also controlling the corruption within an edible range, is extremely difficult. My experiments have been stuck at this point."
As Frank spoke, he pulled the snakeskin bag he was dragging in front of him and opened it, revealing the failed experimental products inside:
There were wooden blocks as black as charcoal, still wiggling slightly; there were brightly colored mushrooms with specks of golden yellow patterns that looked delicious at first glance; and there were mushroom colonies the size of a baby's arm, with meat-like textures.
Leyton blinked. These things seemed quite far from success.
After a moment of thought, he looked up at Frank and asked, "Is it limited by your own Sequence?"
Frank nodded slightly, "There's that reason, but a Druid formula is hard to come by at sea."
"I'll help you look for one. Perhaps you can get it within this week."
Leyton nodded gently. He remembered that the City of Silver had some High-Sequence formulas for the Mother Pathway.
He could use normal food to exchange with them, but the residents of the City of Silver, with their strong Giant bloodline, probably had quite a large appetite.
Cattleya watched this scene from the side, frowning slightly. She opened her mouth as if to say something but ultimately hesitated and swallowed it back.
Forget it, it's just a Sequence 5 Druid. I should still be able to control the situation on the Future. At least with an experiment to engross Frank, he won't have the energy to harm other crew members.
Upon hearing that Leyton could find a Druid formula within this week, Frank's expression instantly turned to surprise and delight:
"Really? Thank you so much, my dear friend!"
"I'll go dispose of these experimental wastes first, then conduct new experiments later. Wait for me a bit, and we can discuss new ideas about the experiment!"
"How are you going to dispose of these things? Throw them into the sea?"
Leyton found it a bit hard to look directly at the things Frank had put into the snakeskin bag, but he was also curious. If these things were poured directly into the sea, would it count as polluting the ocean?
In this world, would polluting the ocean get one struck dead by a bolt of lightning from the Lord of Storms?
Frank shook his head upon hearing this. "Of course not. That might allow someone with ill intentions to use divination to track the Future's course and location."
"I always burn them thoroughly with fire first, then scatter the remaining ashes into the sea."
"Very well handled."
Leyton nodded slightly, then found an excuse to decline Frank's invitation for later:
"I have another engagement later, and besides, I don't have the habit of working at night and resting during the day. Let's discuss the experiment tomorrow."
"Alright."
Frank nodded understandingly, then dragged the exaggerated snakeskin bag towards the deck.
Cattleya gave Leyton a deep look, not exposing his casual excuse, and instead said, "Your room is still the same one as before. If you need anything, you can directly ask the crew members. You're already familiar with them."
"No problem." Leyton nodded slightly.
Then the two left the bottom of Frank's cabin together. Cattleya returned to her captain's cabin, while Leyton went to the room he used to stay in.
As soon as he opened the door, a black shadow pounced out.
Leyton extended his hand slightly, and an invisible wall of air appeared in between. The black cat hit the air wall and was sent spinning.
"Meow~ Who is it? How dare you attack this meow!"
Paz landed dizzily on the floor and started shouting without even looking up to see who it was.
"..." Leyton was silent for a moment, looking at the black cat whose personality had completely changed.
Had it become the Future's favored pet? Its speech had become so arrogant. A pirate tricorn hat, an eye patch, a fishbone pendant... ha. All it needed was a Sailor's knife.
Leyton ignored the clamoring black cat and walked past it directly to the bed. Seeing the scattered cat fur on the bed, he suddenly had the urge to throw the arrogant black cat into the sea.
He turned and glared at the black cat behind him, which had already quieted down and was secretly trying to sneak away. He said, "Why aren't you staying by Nina's side, messing up my bed for no reason?"
"I don't want to sleep with that woman. She'll squash me into a cat pancake!"
Paz shook its head repeatedly, even shaking off the already tilted pirate hat on its head.
Cat pancake? This guy is also a language master. I really want to throw this cat in front of Arrodes. I just feel like that scene would be very interesting. Leyton raised an eyebrow, looked at the black cat, which had become self-righteous again, and said nothing more.
He briefly glanced around the room, and a faint blue light emerged in his eyes.
The next moment, a whirlwind suddenly started in the room, sweeping all the cat hair Paz had shed into the air. It was burned to ashes in a pale golden flame and swept into the night sky through the open window.
After cleaning up the cat fur Paz had shed, he clapped his hands again, letting his spirituality spread outwards, transforming into deep blue waves that swept around.
After the waves swept through, the surroundings were dyed with a fiery golden color, spreading out layer by layer, evaporating all the moisture in the room. The light with Purification power directly disinfected the entire room.
After doing all this, Leyton, who was about to lie down and rest, saw Paz walking in from outside again. He raised an eyebrow and asked curiously, "Why are you back again?"
Paz's eyes darted around randomly, and it said casually, "Hmm, why did you bring a crow back? Where's that stupid rabbit? Don't you want it anymore?"
"I left it with a friend."
"You gave it away!"
Paz exclaimed directly.
"What have you been learning on the Future?"
Leyton glanced at the black cat, then ignored it and went to bed to sleep.
Paz grumbled for a while, then, finding that neither Leyton nor the crow paid it any attention, a human-like expression of dejection appeared on its face.
It looked at the bed, which Leyton had tidied, hesitated, then jumped onto it, curled up in the covers at the foot of the bed, and fell into a deep sleep.
In a hazy dream, Leyton suddenly awoke. Around him, the setting sun and waves were frozen in place. In front was a magnificent ancient palace, its proportions forcibly magnified, as if specially built for Giants.
"This is the scene of the Giant King's Court, the Giant King's Court from my past memories."
A familiar voice sounded around him. Leyton lowered his head, as if sensing something, to look at his feet.
The shadow beneath him suddenly surged, rapidly wriggling upwards, twisting into a human form, and gradually becoming clearer.
He had black hair that reached his shoulders, slightly curled, and eyes that seemed covered in Dark shadows.
He wore a black robe inscribed with complex symbols and adorned with ornate accessories, with layer upon layer of ethereal black wings trailing down his back, covering most of his body.
He approached Leyton with a smile, his voice calm, even benevolent, as he said, "This should be the first time I appear before you in my True, complete form."
"So, a first meeting. Although I still haven't figured out whether you are a remnant of the Outer Deity or a newborn Sage..."
The smile that had just appeared on Leyton's face froze. He recalled that when he met the God of Knowledge, the other party had called him a "newborn Sage."
I had only thought it was because I possessed a Sage characteristic, but now it seems it's not that simple.
"Herabergen, as the current White Tower and also your partner, should know quite a lot."
"However, I believe you don't need to rush to find answers. Sometimes, letting things develop naturally might be better."
"Is this... your prophecy?"
Leyton looked at Sasrir opposite him, his voice tinged with confusion and expectation.
"No, just some experience and intuition."
"The Hanged Man Pathway does not have authority over fate. Perhaps I, who once wielded the first blasphemy slate, could have prophesied about you."
Sasrir shook his head slightly, moving past the topic: "Keep that Conqueror characteristic for now. I will ask for it at an appropriate time."
Leyton nodded noncommittally. After all, it was a Sequence 1 characteristic, and he also hoped to analyze it a bit more... But at an appropriate time? Was it to trick Adam?
Sasrir's gaze passed over Leyton and looked at the sea under the setting sun behind him.
His eyes deepened, seemingly lost in deep recollection. After a long while, he murmured to himself, "Between Adam and I, it is a struggle between humanity and divinity. Although it won't be a life-and-death battle, we both hope to act primarily according to our own will..."
