"I hope it's your humanity that gains the upper hand," Leyton stated his opinion.
"Heh," Sasrir chuckled, then sighed, "I also hope my humanity takes precedence. I believe it's the most precious thing about being human. When divinity becomes too strong, we gradually become unlike ourselves."
"Unlike myself?" Leyton didn't quite understand this statement. In his perception, both divinity and humanity were part of oneself.
"You have Beyonder characteristics of the White Tower Pathway. You should be very familiar with 'rationality.' When you are constantly in a state of absolute rationality, do you still consider that a positive effect?"
"Rationality is close to divinity. This might also be why you were born into a body that fused with the Beyonder characteristics of the White Tower Pathway."
Leyton fell silent upon hearing this. He had never thought about his awakening in this body from that perspective.
But upon careful consideration, he felt it was highly possible. He had always thought it was due to luck, but in the mystical world, all coincidences are actually a form of inevitability; everything that happens has its reasons.
Sasrir looked up at the sky, which was dyed golden by the twilight, as if sensing something. His gaze seemed to penetrate this dream, seeing the scene in reality.
"That newly advanced Sage has arrived."
Leyton, who was still pondering his own issues, paused for a second before realizing the other party was talking about Bernadette.
Then he looked at Sasrir opposite him and asked, "You must have completely digested the will and power of the True Creator's descent by now, right?"
Sasrir nodded slightly with a smile. Then, the twilight in the dream suddenly burst into bright light. Leyton's vision blurred, and he woke up from his sleep.
On the Future, Leyton sat up from his bed. The scene from the dream earlier was clearly floating in his mind.
He turned his head and looked around. Besides the Crow Anu sleeping soundly in the corner, he didn't see Sasrir's figure. It seemed he hadn't left the parasitic state yet.
Then he flipped out of bed, picked up his clothes from a nearby coat rack, and after dressing neatly, extended his right hand, grasping in mid-air, slightly twisting his wrist and pulling it back, making an opening Door gesture.
A pale blue light rippled out, and a "Door" connecting to the deck opened.
Leyton stepped directly into the Door.
The next moment, his figure appeared on the deck.
The Future was rapidly sailing on the Midseashire, which was surrounded by land. The waves here were not big. Even with the Future sailing fast, the sea wind only made the clothes flap loudly in the air.
He walked on the deck, purple light swirling in his eyes, trying to find Bernadette's location.
The next moment, thick, green vines descended like a downpour, covering the surrounding area, layer upon layer, intertwining and weaving, quickly forming a lush green forest.
In the center of this forest, green vines wove into a simple study. Bernadette sat quietly at a coffee table, holding a steaming cup of coffee.
She was wearing a white Intis-style shirt and a dark black jacket, with a thin rapier at her waist. Other than not wearing a tricorn hat, she was dressed like a standard sea captain.
Did she just come from the Dawn? Leyton had a question in his mind, then he strode over.
As he walked, a translucent black shadow emerged from beneath his feet, moving forward with Leyton. Its appearance gradually solidified and became clear, transforming into the image of Sasrir, whom Leyton had just seen.
At the same time, Leyton felt something detach from him, breaking its connection with him.
This gave him a sense of relief, as if Sasrir's parasitism had been a burden on his body and spirit.
Leyton and Sasrir each found a seat at one side of the coffee table and sat down.
Then, invisible servants emerged from nothingness, carrying coffee. They placed two steaming cups of coffee on the table in front of Leyton and Sasrir, respectively.
Sasrir picked up the coffee from the table, took a sip with a nostalgic expression, then looked at Bernadette beside him and said calmly:
"Although what happened before was part of a deal you had already agreed upon, I still want to thank you for your help. It made the plan go much smoother."
"I will pay a certain price for this. What do you need?"
Bernadette nodded slightly, not surprised, and said, "A drop of mythical creature blood, anyone's will do."
Leyton looked at Bernadette upon hearing this. This should be for the captain. Is this love from the old Mother?
"Understood." Sasrir nodded slightly.
"Perhaps you could make another choice?" Leyton interrupted their quickly reached agreement.
Sasrir didn't mind being interrupted. He leisurely continued to savor the coffee in his hand, as if making up for a life he hadn't enjoyed for a long time.
Bernadette turned her head and looked over. She didn't speak, but her deep blue eyes didn't hide her confusion. She quietly waited for an answer.
Following Bernadette's gaze, Leyton chuckled and said, "You want mythical creature blood, presumably for the captain, right?"
"In a while, she will have a better choice: the Snake of Fate of the Fate pathway."
Bernadette nodded slightly. Her gaze swept over Sasrir on the other side, then she changed the topic and said, "Then what do you think I should choose?"
"Me?" Leyton hesitated for a moment. He hadn't expected Bernadette to throw this question to him.
After a brief ponder, he looked at Sasrir and asked, "As a True God who presides over the Fallen domain, can the Hanged Man reverse the situation where divinity overwhelms humanity by utilizing his authority?"
Bernadette, who had maintained a calm expression, also quieted down at this moment. Her gaze was fixed on Sasrir, hoping that he would give the answer she desired.
Sasrir put down his coffee cup, thought for a moment, and then said, "Your idea has a certain degree of feasibility, but this kind of precise manipulation in the spiritual domain requires the cooperation of the individual. Those who experience this kind of trouble have usually already stepped into the Angel rank."
"It also requires the help of a High-Sequence psychiatrist, and it cannot be like Ouroboros. As a naturally born mythical creature, he lacks the proper childhood and experiences, and his own personality has some issues."
The Ancient Sun God also liked to take in problematic children. Of the eight Kings of Angels around him, only his own clone was reliable… Leyton's thoughts suddenly diverged, and he imagined various scenes in his mind.
Bernadette seemed to recall past memories. A smile appeared on her face, but then it disappeared.
She frowned slightly, looking as if she didn't want to recall too much of the past, then sighed softly and said, "He had a childhood, and when he was young, he had plenty of humanity. It's just that he was born with a Beyonder characteristic of a Knowledge Magister, which caused his humanity to be gradually suppressed by his divinity as he grew older."
"As for cooperation, I think I can persuade him now."
Sasrir did not ask too many questions, only nodded slightly and said, "I will contact you when the time is right. Before that, I need to at least shepherd a Saint of the Spectator Pathway."
"No problem."
Bernadette nodded slightly. She also needed time to persuade Bornova.
Seeing that the two had reached an agreement, Leyton presented his request to Bernadette:
"I want to borrow the 'Wheel of Fortune' Card of Blasphemy for a period of time. I have a premonition that I will need it at some point in the near Future."
"Understood. I'll have someone bring it to you in a couple of days."
Bernadette agreed directly, not even asking for compensation for borrowing the Card of Blasphemy, nor mentioning a return date.
Having resolved one issue, Leyton turned to Sasrir:
"I want a drop of your mythical creature blood. What do I need to exchange for it?"
Although Sasrir would certainly give it if he asked directly, that would be relying on the accumulated favors and help from before, which shouldn't be used in unnecessary places. I just want to gain more knowledge of mysticism by analyzing mythical creature blood.
Sasrir seemed to have anticipated Leyton's suggestion. The next moment, he gave his answer:
"Help me find Saint-level Beyonder characteristics of the Visionary, Tyrant, Sun, and White Tower Pathways. If there are Angel characteristics, even better."
"The Beyonder characteristics of the latter three Pathways are concentrated in the hands of the three major Churches. Those scattered outside are basically all below Sequence 5."
Bernadette reminded Leyton.
He nodded slightly, a faint smile on his face, and said, "No problem. I have some news about Calamity. I'll find him as soon as possible, but I can't beat an Angel, even if he's not in good condition."
"You can recite my name."
As he spoke, Sasrir raised his right hand. The flesh on it trembled slightly, and tiny drops of dark, viscous liquid emerged from the surface of his skin, growing in number. They suddenly contracted and solidified, forming a fingernail-sized, pitch-black crystal.
He tilted his palm slightly, and the pitch-black crystal flew towards Leyton.
He reached out and caught it. Besides a slightly cold touch, there was nothing else.
"Be prepared before using it. Although it is essentially Angel blood, it has a status close to Sequence 0."
