Chapter 16 - the mark of a hunter

Hunters contrary to popular belief are not born with their power. They begin as ordinary humans, shaped by fear, rage, loss, or something deeper. What separates them is the mark.

Branded somewhere upon their skin, this symbol is more than ceremonial it is a conduit of raw power.

Upon receiving the mark, a hunter's body undergoes rapid adaptation:

Heightened strength.

Surging speed.

Sharper instincts.

And most crucially, a unique ability a manifestation of their inner self. A soul made into power.

No two abilities are the same. One hunter may call down storms from their grief. Another may move unseen, born of shame. The mark doesn't grant what the hunter wants but what they are.

Its origins remain unknown.

But its purpose? That's crystal clear:

To push mankind beyond its limits.

To stop their extinction.

To stand toe-to-toe with monsters and survive.

And yet… there are monsters whose sheer strength eclipses even the strongest marked hunters. Just as there are hunters whose hatred and resolve allow them to tear through beasts like paper.

Two sides of the same ancient war.

Natural enemies.

Hunters. And monsters.

But now that you understand the balance…

Let's return to Zed.

To Felt.

To Floris

And the others.
