_______________________________________________________________________

It was the last day of the month, and most students were still out in the fields grinding monsters, chasing those elusive final levels. But not Lucas.

After three days of non-stop dungeon grinding, clever planning, and investing his hard-earned gold, Lucas had finally reached Level 20 and assembled a full set of proper gear. He had carefully selected every piece, every enchantment, and now it was time.

He was ready to face the real challenge—the single-player job transfer dungeon.

That afternoon, fully armed and mentally prepared, Lucas stepped into the Temple of Job Changers, nestled deep in the heart of the main city of Tianhai.

The temple was eerily quiet, almost like a library. Its white stone walls echoed faint sounds, and its atmosphere was more sacred than crowded. That made sense—this wasn't a place people visited casually. It was only when a career changer reached a major turning point that they came here. The process was personal, even spiritual for some.

Behind a polished desk, a young woman in uniform looked up as Lucas approached. Her voice was calm and polite. "Hello, are you here to initiate your job change?"

Lucas nodded. "Yes."

"What is your class?"

"Assassin."

The clerk gave a professional smile and tapped quickly on the terminal in front of her. "Assassin class, okay. Please proceed to the fourth floor, Room 404. It's available now."

"Thank you." Lucas took the access card she handed him and moved quickly toward the stairs.

Room 404 wasn't hard to find. The hallways on the fourth floor were quiet, lined with identical doors. He slid the card through the lock, entered the room, and closed the door behind him.

Inside, a job transfer flowchart was mounted on the wall, outlining the general steps. Lucas had already studied it online and was familiar with the different dungeons assigned to first-time job transfer trials, especially for the assassin path. Still, he took a moment to study it again, absorbing every last detail.

Then, he walked toward the centerpiece of the room—a massive crystal orb known as the Sacred Stone, glowing with an inner light that shifted like clouds under moonlight. He pressed his hands against it.

Instantly, a bright pulse of light surrounded him. A prompt appeared before his eyes:

> You have reached Level 20 and are eligible to enter the Single-Player Job Transfer Dungeon. Confirm entry?

[Yes] / [No]

"Yes. Confirmed."

Light engulfed his entire body, pulling him in as if the orb had swallowed him whole. His vision blurred. The room vanished.

---

When Lucas opened his eyes, he was no longer in the temple.

He stood beneath a giant, twisted tree in the courtyard of an old, moonlit castle. The air was cold, the moon was a sharp crescent in the sky, and shadows danced along the stone walls like whispers.

A prompt popped into view:

> Mission Objective: Assassinate Count Jack hidden inside the Dark Castle.

Lucas narrowed his eyes. "This one…"

He remembered this mission. In the intel he had gathered online, "Kill Count Jack in the Dark Castle" was widely known as one of the more difficult assassin-class job transfer instances.

Why? Because it demanded precision, stealth, and patience.

The mobs inside the castle were absurdly powerful for solo players. If you were spotted, even once, you'd likely be overwhelmed. The only viable strategy was to sneak—avoid every patrol, every hallway confrontation, and make your way deep into the castle.

Count Jack wasn't in a fixed location either. He could appear in one of four random rooms, and was always surrounded by elite bodyguards. Even if they weren't standing right next to him, they responded quickly to any alarm.

Worse, if Count Jack sensed danger or spotted an intruder, he'd fight back. Though not terribly strong on his own, he could stall long enough for backup to arrive. Once surrounded, your chances of survival? Slim to none.

This dungeon was not just about battle. It was a test of your assassin instincts.

Lucas chuckled. "Assassination... Guess this really is my kind of challenge."

But just then, a voice rang out in his head.

> Ding! System prompt: The host has entered a class evolution zone. A new main mission has been triggered.

Lucas blinked. That voice—it had been silent for days.

> Main Mission: Eliminate all enemies in the job transfer dungeon. Reward: Mysterious gift.

Lucas stared blankly for a second. "Wait. What?"

He hadn't heard from the system since he first awakened it. And now, out of nowhere, it wanted him to forget stealth… and kill everything?

The entire castle? Guards, patrols, bodyguards—everyone?!

"Are you kidding me?" Lucas whispered.

That wasn't an assassin mission. That was a berserker's massacre. But the system sounded serious.

He sighed. "Mystery reward, huh? Alright, fine. Let's test the waters first."

He activated his invisibility skill and crept toward the castle's main gate. Two guards stood alert, armored from head to toe, gripping long halberds.

Lucas raised a brow and pulled out a Detection Scroll, tossing it toward the guards. Their stats materialized before his eyes:

---

Name: Castle Guard

Level: 20

HP: 5000

Attack: 520

Physical Defense: 500

Magic Defense: 400

---

Lucas nearly let out a whistle. "Damn…"

These guys were tougher than the elite werewolves in nightmare dungeons. Much tougher.

Most players at his level would be lucky to kill one—let alone storm the entire castle.

"This job transfer quest really doesn't pull any punches," he muttered.

Even worse, as soon as he used the scroll, the guards started to turn toward his direction—eyes sharp and aware.

"Wait, what?!" Lucas stepped back.

He was invisible. How could they sense him?

He froze, watching carefully. The guards stared for a moment, then resumed their positions. Lucas exhaled slowly. Close call.

Still, this was no time to panic. He now understood just how tough the challenge would be. The system's mission wasn't just difficult—it bordered on madness.

But Lucas wasn't one to back down from madness.

He stepped back into the shadows of the tree, gears turning in his mind.

The task was clear: kill everyone. That meant dashing expectations, flipping the script, and turning an assassination into a slaughter.

If he could pull it off, he wouldn't just complete the job transfer. He'd make history.

Lucas touched the hilt of his dagger and smiled. "Let's go."
