After the banquet, everyone went to bed. The following day, the briefing for the island inspection began. Their chief warrior, Aldo, stated,
"Eight battleships will deploy the Z-Jammer Stampeder to constantly launch AM particles. These particles suppress magic, and while the Z-Jammer is active, no one will be able to use mana — not even the creatures on the island."
Werner raised his hand.
"Yes, Mr. Werner?" Aldo asked."What are the effects of these particle waves on our bodies?" Werner inquired.
Aldo replied, "We've conducted multiple tests, and no harmful effects have been observed in humanoid creatures."
Vanessa spoke next.
"I'll stay on the battleships to make sure there aren't any outside interferences. Five kilometers from the ships, you'll use boats to make landfall and begin the inspection."
Liebe then raised his hand.
"Yes, Mr. Liebe?" Aldo said."So far, is it wrong for me to assume you've tested this Z-Jammer on almost every humanoid species — elves, humans, and so on?""That's correct," Aldo answered."Then would it also be correct to assume that this plan was specifically made to ensure devils can't use their mana against us?""Yes, that's right," Aldo replied."My question is — has it been tested on an actual demon?" Liebe asked.
Alba responded nervously, "Due to the lack of specimens, we couldn't test it on them."
Liebe crossed his arms.
"So let me get this straight — you claim you have an entire island full of devils, a literal gateway to hell, yet you couldn't just capture one and test it?"
Hearing that, Werner couldn't help but laugh.
Vanessa smirked.
"When you put it like that, it really does sound absurd. What do you have to say, Chief Warrior Aldo?"
Liebe continued,
"Let's assume, for a second, that it also works on devils. You do realize that makes no sense, right? Are you actually planning for us to inspect the island or to die there? Because right now, you're sending us somewhere you yourself don't want to go."
He leaned forward.
"Be honest — did you even think this through? What if it does work on devils, but their biology allows them to regenerate, or they attack using acid or venom? How arrogant must you be to assume we'll 'just win' because they can't use magic? Ever heard of fangs, claws, and poison?"
The entire room burst out laughing at how flawed the plan sounded.
Vanessa chuckled,
"Yeah, in simple terms, this plan is like walking into an unknown battle without your best weapon. I like this kid."
Werner grinned.
"I propose a different plan. How about we make landfall as a group, and the Knight of Nine, Vanessa, takes command? That way, we'll make use of every resource available. Without it, we can't even heal the injured."
A new plan was finally devised — Vanessa would remain on the warships, and while the others were on the island, the Z-Jammers would only be activated if someone from the group requested it. This way, they could stay prepared for any situation.
Their journey was scheduled to begin that night. They would reach the island by 3 p.m. tomorrow, and make landfall the following day around 6 a.m.
As the meeting ended, Werner laughed heartily.
"You really are hilarious, Liebe Faust. I don't remember the last time I laughed that hard."
