After class, they went to Black Rose HQ. They knocked on Lilith's office door.
Lilith said, "Come in."
Licht and Liebe entered.
Lilith asked, "What is it now, Vice Captain?"
Licht said, "Ma'am, Liebe challenged me for the title of Vice Captain, and I'm going to accept."
Lilith sighed. "Don't you have anything better to do?"
Licht replied, "No."
Lilith said, "Since you two won't listen to me anyway, do whatever you please."
Outside, Liebe said, "Gelda, come."
Gelda emerged from her portal.
Liebe asked, "Mind being a referee for our match?"
Gelda said, "Understood. Here are the rules: it will be a 1v1. No magic—only a weapon of choice."
Licht said, "Understood."
Liebe said, "Understood."
Licht added, "I'll take my rapier."
Liebe said, "I'll take my dual swords."
Gelda announced, "The title of Vice Captain is on the line. Give it your all. Now—begin!"
Licht said, "I'll go first. Dark Sword Thrust!"
Liebe replied, "Won't let it happen!"
The battle raged on. Everyone came to watch.
At one point, Licht even managed to corner Liebe, with the tip of his blade at Liebe's face.
Licht said, "Do you give up?"
Liebe replied, "Not even in the slightest."
Even Lilith came to watch. The battle lasted for more than three hours.
Sujibur asked, "Who do you think will win?"
Dover replied, "Don't know—but this format of not using magic might be the safest way to let them fight without causing any of our deaths."
Sujibur said, "They're monsters, alright."
Eventually, the battle ended with Liebe claiming victory.
After losing, Licht said, "Yo, Vice Captain, when's the promotion treat? I'm starving over here."
Liebe said, "Same here."
They both collapsed onto the ground and started laughing.
Liebe said, "Hey, former Vice Captain, why are you so lazy?"
Licht replied, "Vice Captain, the same reason why you're so energetic."
And they laughed again.
Lilith said, "Liebe Al Faust, you are now the new Vice Captain of Black Rose. Just remember—I have my eyes on you. The moment you slip, is the moment you'll be stripped of your title."
Liebe said, "Understood, ma'am. I will dedicate myself to the service of Black Rose."
