Aidan followed Hank back to Xavier's school.

"So how'd it go?" Logan appeared in the hallway, looking curious as hell. Xavier was off teaching some class, everyone else was busy with their own stuff, and Logan was... well, Logan didn't really do the whole "schedule" thing.

"Could've been worse," Aidan said as the three of them walked down the corridor, basically taking up the whole space. "After this alien thing's over, I'm gonna build a proper city around the school. Size'll depend on how many of you there are."

"What kind of neighbors we talking about?" Logan asked. Hank looked just as confused.

"Transformers," Aidan said like it was no big deal. "Optimus Prime, Ironhide... the Autobots need somewhere to live too."

Both of them stopped walking. "Wait, what? For real?" Logan's eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning.

"They're kinda lonely on the island right now. Figured you guys could keep each other company. And they're not just machines—they're alive."

"Oh man, is Bumblebee there? I fucking love that guy!" Logan was practically bouncing.

"Nah, just about a dozen with Optimus. But there'll be more eventually."

"I call dibs on meeting Optimus Prime!" Hank said, grinning.

With the basics sorted out, Aidan tore open a portal and stepped through to Apex Island.

The place had been busy while he was gone. The underwater Hive was finally finished, all the equipment installed and ready to go. Those teleportation devices could handle living things now—all 26,000 of them. Originally meant for Baymax branches worldwide, but with this invasion coming, he'd keep them here for now.

The satellite was done too, just waiting on launch tests. But now that he had Space Bridge tech, he could slap a space pillar on that thing. Instant teleportation anywhere on Earth, plus it packed one hell of a punch. Way more convenient than nukes. He had leftover materials from Asgard—should be enough to retrofit the satellite. Launch could wait.

When he materialized on the island, he found several giant robots just... hanging out on the grass. And Peter—when the hell had the kid gotten an Iron Man suit?—was flying around between them.

VROOOM!

A Lamborghini came tearing across the grass straight at him. Through the windshield, he could see May frantically waving at him to get out of the way. "Move! MOVE!"

Aidan just held up his hand, and the car stopped dead, physics be damned.

"Jesus Christ..." May clutched the steering wheel, then stumbled out of the car. "You nearly gave me a heart attack!"

"Maybe don't drive like you're in Fast and Furious?" Aidan said, opening his arms for a hug.

"You just appeared out of nowhere!" May smacked the back of his head. "What was I supposed to do?"

"I can confirm she was driving way too fast," Hot Rod said, transforming and raising one metal hand. "Definitely not regulation speed."

"Go play with your friends," May said, rolling her eyes and pointing at the other Transformers tossing around what looked like a beach ball the size of a small car.

"Yes! Later, humans!" Hot Rod jogged off to join the game.

"So you and Peter settling in okay?" Aidan asked.

"Are you kidding? This place is amazing. Robot butlers, fresh seafood every day, and Peter didn't sleep a wink last night after meeting Optimus." She looked up at the sky, squinting. "Only thing is, this sun doesn't feel quite right."

"That's because it's not real. Virtual projection."

"Wait, what? It's fake?" May stared up at the perfectly normal-looking sky. "I couldn't tell at all. It even follows normal day-night cycles."

"White Queen, can you drop the environmental dome?"

The AI's projection appeared next to them. "It's currently storming. Are you sure you want to—"

"Never mind then," Aidan said, looking at May apologetically.

"So... the Transformers are real, but the sun is fake?" May pointed at Hot Rod, who was now playing catch with a robot twice his size.

"Transformers are definitely real. You've been driving one around."

"This is all so surreal," May sighed.

Meanwhile, up on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, everything had gone to hell after Aidan left. The ship looked like it'd been through a blender—holes blown in the hull, fires everywhere, but somehow still flying. Banner had gone green, torn up half the ship, and got tossed overboard. They'd managed to snap Hawkeye out of his mind control, but not before he'd done serious damage. And Thor? Loki had played him like a fiddle, locked him in that cage, and dropped him right out of the sky.

So much for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In the heart of New York, Stark Tower stood like a gleaming middle finger pointed at the sky. At the top, Dr. Selvig—still under Loki's influence—was putting the finishing touches on some kind of device. The Tesseract sat in the center, glowing that familiar blue.

All over the city, people had started noticing these weird circular metal things that Baymax had been placing everywhere. Not active yet, but definitely not normal street furniture either.

And if you owned a Baymax robot, you'd gotten an interesting message on its chest screen:

"Spatial evacuation device located at Tel Street entrance, Harlem. Please proceed to designated location when emergency protocols activate..."

"Queens evacuation point: Roosevelt Avenue..."

"Manhattan safe zone: Central Park North..."

"The above emergency measures have been implemented by Baymax Medical Technology Corporation. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope these precautions prove unnecessary."

Every robot in the city had customized evacuation routes displayed.

Something big was coming. Everyone could feel it.
