Chapter 125 - I can't live without you

CARMELO

We arrived at the mansion. The gates were wrecked and as we drove in, there were dead bodies on the ground. I'd never felt this much fear before. It gripped my heart so hard that I was finding it hard to breathe. The images that my mind started to display made me want to shut my eyes and never open them again. I couldn't lose her. Without her, my life had no meaning. She wasn't a part of me, she was inside me. Every inch of me.

"Hurry the fuck up!" I shouted at the driver. As the cars pulled up on the lawn, there were at least a hundred men in black suits. Chiara's brothers were in between them. One on his knees and the other one holding a gun at his head. Her family was simply fucked up. Just like how she told me. But where was she?

They all turned with guns aimed in our direction. I stood in front of Junior's men, with Storm and him beside me. The air was too thick, tension spoke loud in the silence. "The Conti infamous brothers? In our land? What a pleasant surprise." Luca, the snickering type, with a face like his father uttered. I stared at him. He was inked everywhere you looked, even on his face. "Where is Chiara?" I wasn't here to see their family shit show. I was here for one person and I wasn't leaving without her.

"Oh, my sister? I almost forgot that you are my brother-in-law now. Regardless, it was foolish of you to enter our territory, don't you think?" He sneered. I wanted to punch the hell out of his face. "Do we look like we're concerned about that to you?" Junior uttered. "Oh, Junior. The snobbish one of the two. You sure are full of yourself. Look around you." This fool thought the numbers counted to us. And the more he elongated this conversation, the more angered I got. It's almost like he was stalling for something.

"Bro, we should just take them out. This charade is boiling my blood." Junior said ipmatiently. "She is inside. Chiara is in the mansion with our father. Go. She needs you." Marco, who was held on both shoulders on his knees, said to us. "You fucking bastard! You are a disgrace to our family." Luca kicked his twin brother on the back. He gathered himself and got on his knees again. There was a fire in his eyes, I could see it burning hot. My eyes narrowed at them and then landed past them all. At the entrance of the mansion. I was getting past those damned doors one way or another.

I turned to Junior and Storm. "Clean the path for me." I said. They nodded and Junior pointed with signs to his men. I gripped the guns in my hands, setting my mind at the entrance. "This ends fucking now." Said Marco before I could move. We all turned to him. And in a blink of eyes, a number of their own men were pointing guns at each other. Luca's eyes widened as a couple of them were aimed at his head. "What the fuck?" Junior uttered.

And then as if he wasn't helpless justa moment ago, Marco got up, dusting his hands. He turned and punched Luca hard on the face. He gave him another punch and then round kicked his chest. Sending him crushing to the ground. "Hold him." He ordered. "If anybody dares as much as to move, I'm skinning you all alive." He then turned to me "Go." He said. I nodded, eyed Storm and made my way to the entrance.

Time slowed down. We walked on a sea of men who held guns against each other. The moment we entered the mansion, all hell broke loose outside. Gunshots rang like a dark melody. However, it was the one that banged inside that caught my attention, causing my mind to stop. Then four men appeared out of nowhere, blocking the path. "They're mine, boss." Storm said and got into a heated action, clearing the path for me. I drew my gun and ran to the direction. She had to wait for me. Or I'd burn this entire place and everything in it.

I kicked the door open, and found Antonio holding his wife at a gunpoint. I followed the length of their vision. My heart stopped and my hands limply fell to my side, and the gun to the floor. My wide eyes zeroed at the sight of her. "No." I breathed out. She was lying in a pool of blood. Was that her blood?

I stumbled my way to her, dropped to my knees. My shaking hands not even knowing where to hold her. "No. No, tesoro. What happened to you?" I pulled her head to my lap. Our gazes held and I felt like I was stabbed hard on my chest. Her eyes scared me. They looked like life was slipping out of them. "Don't leave me, my love. Please, you know I can't live without you." I looked down at her abdomen, her shirt was painted red.

"I'm going to kill all of you." Antonio uttered. I shook my head. "Don't you dare leave me. Baby, stay with me, please." I pulled out my phone and dialed. She looked at me, her lips trembled, as tears slid on the corners of her eyes.

"You're here," she flattered her eyes, weakly as her voice was. "Don't talk!" I shouted at her. "Not you Goddamnit!" And then shouted to the person on the phone. I couldn't see clearly past my blurred vision, "Someone is dying. Bring a damn ambulance at… What the fuck is this place?" I looked at them. "Road 11!" Her sobbing mother blurted. "Shut the fuck up, Laura!" "Road 11. Hurry the fuck up!" I shouted, let the phone down and carried her in my embrace, her head resting on my pounding chest. "Stay with me, baby. I won't let anything happen to you."
