When the Spirit of the Ancestral Stone saw Xiao Yan casually slap apart the Spirit Tribulation, its jaw nearly dropped. Even though that first bolt of tribulation lightning was the weakest, it still possessed enough power to force an average Earth Sovereign to go all-out just to survive. Yet Xiao Yan had dispersed it with a mere wave of his hand, as if it were nothing.
Xiao Yan ignored the astonishment of the Ancestral Stone Spirit and kept his gaze fixed on the cloud of spiritual lightning in the sky. When the second wave of the Spirit Tribulation descended, he suddenly thought of something. Instead of shattering the bolt like before, he allowed it to strike his body directly.
The Ancestral Stone Spirit was even more dumbfounded. Not only was Xiao Yan allowing the lightning to hit him, he was actively absorbing its power! Throughout history, those who encountered the Spirit Tribulation did everything in their power to defend against it—none dared to absorb it. But Xiao Yan was not like the rest. He treated the Spirit Tribulation as a rare opportunity rather than a death sentence.
Ever since the Ancestral Stone Spirit told him that it was possible to simultaneously cultivate spiritual energy of multiple elements, Xiao Yan had been collecting rare elemental items to integrate into his body. Aside from flame-type items, he had collected the most thunder-elemental treasures. This tribulation lightning was one of the rarest and most formidable natural thunder forces, making it an ideal component for integration.
Normally, Spirit Tribulation only appeared when a Sovereign broke through to Earth Sovereign, making it extremely rare. Even high-grade Heavenly Sovereigns had difficulty obtaining it. For lower Sovereigns, such as Earth Sovereigns, the mere presence of this lightning was a nightmare. Who else but Xiao Yan would dare to try fusing with such power?
The intensity of a Spirit Tribulation was directly tied to the level of the Sovereign Body one possessed. The higher the grade of the Sovereign Body, the more terrifying the tribulation. Xiao Yan didn't possess a standard Sovereign Body, but his Creation Green Lotus had been deemed by the heavens to be the highest grade of all. Thus, he was being attacked by tribulation lightning of the highest order.
But that very same lightning became the perfect material for Xiao Yan to integrate and enhance his elemental power.
Even after fully absorbing the Spirit Tribulation, Xiao Yan remained unsatisfied. He activated the power of the Time Ancestral Symbol to rewind time back to the moment the tribulation began—and absorbed it all over again. He repeated this process until he felt completely saturated. If the will of the heavens had consciousness, it would surely be dumbstruck by such blatant exploitation. In all its existence, it had likely never encountered someone who dared to steal from it so shamelessly.
By now, the thunder energy within Xiao Yan had turned multicolored, much like his Emperor Flame. But because this was Spirit Tribulation lightning, its destructive potential was on another level entirely. Caught off guard, even an Earth Sovereign might be instantly killed by it. In comparison, the Emperor Flame seemed rather lacking.
This was understandable—after all, Xiao Yan's Emperor Flame was composed of Heavenly Flames from the Dou Qi Continent. Since his ascension to the Great Thousand World, he had not integrated any new flames, so its power had stagnated. To improve it further, he would need to acquire and fuse with a new flame.
Currently, he still possessed the Battle Will Flame left by Long Fan. If he fused that with the Emperor Flame, it would certainly elevate its power once more. However, that flame was a critical trump card—reserved for dire battles against Heavenly Sovereign opponents—so Xiao Yan wasn't willing to consume it so easily. He would have to search elsewhere for new flame sources.
Now that he had stepped into the Earth Sovereign realm, combined with the many trump cards in his possession, Xiao Yan had full confidence in escaping from any confrontation—even against Heavenly Sovereigns. In the Great Thousand World, unless he encountered the most ancient races or truly supreme factions, there were few who could threaten him. With that assurance, he could now set out to search for exotic flames elsewhere.
Based on the intelligence he had gathered, the most fire-elementally proficient force in the Great Thousand World was the Fire Spirit Clan, followed by the Flame Swallowing Clan of the Volcanic Continent. There were also rumors of powerful flames within the Myriad Flame Mountain Range on the Tianluo Continent.
The Fire Spirit Clan reportedly had a Heavenly Sovereign among them. Until Xiao Yan's strength matched such a level, it was best not to provoke them. As for the Volcanic Continent, it was located in the extreme northern region of the Great Thousand World—remote and dangerous. The Flame Swallowing Clan itself was a mysterious and bizarre race, and venturing there without thorough preparation could be disastrous.
After weighing the risks, Xiao Yan set his sights on the Tianluo Continent. It was one of the ten great super-continents, making it a rich ground for intelligence gathering even if he couldn't find any exotic flames there. Furthermore, the continent lacked any known Heavenly Sovereigns. With his current strength, he could move freely there without fear.
As for the Nine Nether Clan, Xiao Yan wasn't planning to return anytime soon. He had stayed there before mainly to siphon resources. Now that he possessed the Spiritual Gathering Bowl and had amassed a huge stockpile of Sovereign Spiritual Liquid, he no longer had to worry about resource constraints. Staying there would no longer contribute to his growth.
Qin Wan'er and the others would likely assume he had perished when he didn't return, sparing him the hassle of sneaking away again. As for Qing Tan—she had come from the lower planes alongside him and possessed exceptional potential. The Nine Nether Clan wouldn't mistreat someone like her. There was no need for Xiao Yan to worry.
"By the way, Flame Emperor, what do you plan to do with this corpse?" the Ancestral Stone Spirit asked, pointing to the remains of Long Nixian.
Xiao Yan had originally planned to use it to refine the dragon bone, but due to the interference of the Four Fiend Spirits within his body, that plan was now obsolete. Nevertheless, this was still the corpse of a Heavenly Sovereign-level expert—and a dragon at that. Even if he didn't use it himself, it would be highly valuable at auction. Of course, that was assuming the Dragon Clan didn't come knocking at his door.
Xiao Yan stared at Long Nixian's corpse for a moment, then suddenly slapped his palm against the ground and said, "There probably aren't any puppets at the Heavenly Sovereign level in the Great Thousand World, right?"
"Of course not. No force would be so extravagant..." the Ancestral Stone Spirit replied instinctively, but then realized what Xiao Yan was implying. Its expression changed dramatically. "Flame Emperor, you're not thinking of…"
"That's right. If I can refine a Heavenly Sovereign-level puppet, then I'll be able to dominate this entire Great Thousand World with ease."
