Even Xiao Yan hadn't expected that Qing Tan and Lin Jing would integrate so quickly with Zi Yan and the others. But that worked out well. With that little rascal Qing Lin around, he didn't have to worry about arranging accommodations for the pair—she would definitely take care of her new sisters with enthusiasm.
Quietly excusing himself from Xiao Yixian and the others, Xiao Yan turned and made his way toward Yao Lao. He had been away for quite a while now, and he wasn't sure what major developments might have occurred in the Central Plains during his absence—especially regarding Hun Dai'er. These were matters he needed to clarify quickly. Though with his current strength, sweeping through the entire Dou Qi Continent wouldn't be difficult, it was always best to act with caution.
"You finally tore yourself away from your harem? I figured you'd be too busy for at least a few more days," Yao Lao teased upon seeing Xiao Yan.
Xiao Yan scratched his head with a slightly awkward smile. "Teacher, don't joke around. I'm here on serious business this time."
"You want to know what's happened in the Central Plains while you were gone, right?" Yao Lao stroked his beard. When he saw Xiao Yan nod, he continued, "I figured you'd be asking, so I had Feng Xian gather some reports."
As he spoke, he gestured toward the table stacked high with scrolls. "These are all the intelligence reports we've collected over the past six months. They haven't been fully sorted yet, so if you're not in a rush, you could wait a few days. Of course, if you've got the time, you can look through them yourself."
"Mm." Xiao Yan nodded, then with a wave of his sleeve, a vast surge of soul power exploded from his body, instantly scanning through all the information contained within the scrolls.
Feeling this ocean-like soul force, Yao Lao couldn't help but be stunned. He had always known Xiao Yan's growth was rapid, but hadn't grasped just how powerful he'd become. Now, witnessing it up close, he realized his disciple had long since surpassed him.
Even compared to the Pill Tower's old ancestor, known for his peak Heaven Rank soul, Xiao Yan's soul power was on an entirely different level. 'Has this brat already reached the Emperor Rank in soul cultivation?' Yao Lao thought in amazement.
After swiftly digesting the information, Xiao Yan exhaled slowly. Just as he had expected, the surviving members of the Yan Clan had fled from the Profound Fire Mountain Range and taken refuge with the Gu Clan. Once news of the Yan Clan's destruction spread, the other ancient clans swiftly formed an alliance to wage war against the Hun Clan.
However, Hun Dai'er destroyed all spatial gateways leading to the Hun Realm, leaving the alliance unable to locate an entrance. Their plans amounted to punching at empty air. With no other options, they had posted sentries at the former gateways, lying in wait to strike the moment the Hun Clan re-emerged.
The strategy itself wasn't flawed. After all, the Hun Clan couldn't hide forever. Unless they intended to completely isolate themselves from the world, they would have to show themselves eventually.
But that was under the assumption Hun Dai'er wasn't a factor.
She had acquired a portion of Origin Qi from the Peak of Annihilation. As long as she could break through the peak of the Dou Sheng level, she would be able to assault the Dou Di realm. Once she succeeded, there would be no one on the continent capable of stopping her. For her, time was no issue—she could afford to wait.
The worst part was that the Gu Clan and the others had no idea about any of this. They still believed that the moment the Hun Clan revealed themselves, they could launch a counterattack. They were rallying forces and preparing for war—unaware that, should they wait until that moment, it might be the day of their annihilation.
Of course, all this hinged on a world without Xiao Yan.
Now that Xiao Yan had become a Dou Di, there was no longer any need to worry. Even if the Hun Clan sealed their realm, he had more than enough means to force it open. Let alone the Hun Realm—he could even crack open the ancient Emperor's mausoleum with ease.
With his current strength rivaling that of the ancient Tou She Gu Di, and armed with the power of the Dragon Phoenix and the Spatial Ancestral Symbol, any spatial barrier laid down by that Emperor's mausoleum was meaningless. According to the memories from the Path of Reincarnation, the mausoleum still held an Emperor-grade embryo pill and a piece of the ancient Emperor's inheritance. It was time to go back and collect them.
Beyond updates about the other ancient clans, most of the intelligence pertained to minor skirmishes between factions—nothing that drew too much of Xiao Yan's attention. Only one piece stood out: news from the Pill Tower.
Apparently, some unknown figure had suddenly appeared in the Pill Region, causing absolute chaos. This person had stirred up so much trouble that even the three leaders of the Pill Tower were overwhelmed.
Though she was only at the Dou Wang level, she could easily fight beyond her rank. In just half a year, she had flipped several major families under the Pill Tower upside down. Many times, they had sent far stronger experts to intercept her, but she always escaped—and a few had even been slain in the process.
Though a woman, her ruthlessness terrified even hardened warriors. The Pill Tower had dubbed her the "Blood Calamity Witch," a title that stirred something in Xiao Yan's memory—reminding him of his past life, when the Wrathful Demon Saint rose to power in the Central Plains with similar brutality.
Xiao Yan could easily tell that the main reason this Blood Calamity Witch was able to create such upheaval was the arrogance of the Pill Tower's elders. They all looked down on juniors and refused to dirty their hands, or else any one of them could have subdued her with little effort.
In that sense, the Pill Tower and the Hall of Souls really were cut from the same cloth—arrogant relics of an old era.
'This Blood Calamity Witch is kind of interesting,' Xiao Yan mused. If it weren't for Yao Lao's friendly ties to the Pill Tower, he might have been tempted to go check it out himself.
But there was one thing that puzzled him—whether in his previous life or in the memories from the Path of Reincarnation, he had never heard of anyone called the Blood Calamity Witch. During his years traveling the Central Plains in his past life, there had been no mention of such a figure.
So where had this woman come from?
