Chapter 5579: Abduction (Part 2)
Retreating when faced with difficulty might be a way to preserve one's life. However, seeing a large, juicy piece of meat laid out before them, practically within reach, it made no sense not to grab a share.
Zhao Gouzi chuckled, "Giving up is impossible. Since we can't confront them head-on, we can adopt a flanking strategy."
"What flanking strategy?" The others felt a flicker of excitement in their hearts, thinking that Zhao Gouzi was indeed capable and intelligent. Whenever they encountered a situation requiring brains, throwing it to Zhao Gouzi inevitably led to a solution.
Zhao Gouzi rubbed his index finger and thumb together, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "Do you remember? That family has three children. Two of them go to Holy Academy every day to study."
The group immediately agreed, deciding to find an opportune moment tomorrow to kidnap the two kids.
Li Lan'er, however, was a bit worried. "These people's methods are quite ruthless. Would the two children really go to and from school without any protection?"
Besides, their group was reportedly around thirty strong; it was unlikely everyone would constantly stay home to cultivate. Someone had to pick up and drop off the children!
Zhao Gouzi rubbed his fingers, a sly smile on his face. "Naturally, we can't openly snatch them. So, we'll need your cooperation..."
As he spoke, he beckoned to the people around him. Venerable Mulberry, Li Lan'er, and the one-armed Ma Wei leaned their heads in. The four conversed in low voices before nodding repeatedly.
The next day, Mo Baobao and Master Guangguang, as usual, headed to the Holy Academy's Child Branch for their "learning" (and playing) session. With the new academy building, all the children lived very comfortably. Even their listening in class was a bit more attentive than usual.
Of course, this excluded Mo Baobao.
Classmate Mo Baobao listened intermittently without disrupting the class environment. When school was dismissed, he pulled Master Guangguang along, surrounded by a crowd of little "radishes" (small children) who circled them like stars around the moon, and walked outside.
"Mo Xiao, you said you'd bake sweet potatoes for us after school today. Does that still count?"
Several half-grown children gazed at Mo Baobao eagerly, full of anticipation.
Master Guangguang put his hands on his hips and snorted, "Of course it's true! When has my little dumpling ever gone back on his word?"
The little girl who spoke sounded a bit embarrassed. "But, but, I heard, heard my mother say, your family now has a food building."
The implication was, "Since your family is running a business now, wouldn't it be rude for us to keep freeloading?"
Master Guangguang waved his small hand. "You can eat as much as you want! We can still afford it!"
The children immediately cheered, swarming around little Mo Xiao as they headed out of the academy. Mo Baobao had become the "King of Children," his popularity unmatched for a time.
Ma Wei, standing far away outside the academy, observing, turned to Li Lan'er behind him with a dumbfounded expression, asking in a low voice, "What do we do now? Do we still proceed with the original plan?"
He hadn't expected the children of this family to be so popular, practically being escorted out by a large group. With such a noisy crowd of children, how could they possibly make a move?
Li Lan'er was slightly calmer than Ma Wei. "What are you panicking for? Let's observe the situation a bit more."
"If we wait, they'll pass us by," Ma Wei said anxiously.
Seeing this, Li Lan'er gritted her teeth. "Act! First, scatter those little brats."
