Actually, Brentley wasn't joking when he said he would buy a villa for Claire. After all, Claire was, in a way, his fiancee, even if only in name. Brentley didn't think Claire was a bad person at heart, and she had helped him smoothly inherit Gerald Brown's estate. So, buying a villa for her wasn't out of the question.
However, Brentley was pondering how to gift the villa to Claire without revealing his true identity. With these thoughts in mind, he walked into the sales office.
As Brentley entered the sales office, he was thoroughly impressed by the luxurious decor. It was indeed a place that sold villas, looking far more upscale than the sales offices he had visited before. Even the sales ladies were exceptionally beautiful, though they still couldn't compare to the sexy and elegance of Caroline.
"Mr. Carter, you're here!" Caroline exclaimed as she saw Brentley, quickly rushing to his side and greeting him sweetly.
"I ran into a friend just now, so I was a bit delayed," Brentley explained softly to Caroline.
"No problem at all. Let me give you a brief introduction to the villas in this community," Caroline said, intimately linking her arm with Brentley's as she led him to the model display. Her voice was enticing as she began to describe the villa community.
The other sales ladies in the office were all shocked by Caroline's close interaction with Brentley, their expressions filled with disbelief.
"Caroline said she would bring a rich young man to buy a villa today. Could it be him?" one of them whispered.
"Probably not. He doesn't look like a rich kid at all. He seems more like an ordinary college student," another replied, scrutinizing Brentley.
"Yeah, I think this guy might not even be as good as an average college student. Just look at what he's wearing!"
"But did you notice how Miss Caroline treats him? It suggests that his background might not be simple."
The sales assistants began whispering among themselves, their eyes filled with disdain for Brentley. They couldn't see how Brentley could possibly afford one of the villas in the showroom.
"Mr. Carter, all our villas come with luxury renovations. You can move in as soon as you buy one. What do you think?" Caroline explained the surroundings of the villa with a bright smile directed at Brentley.
"It's alright," Brentley replied nonchalantly, then looked at Caroline and said, "There was a girl in a white dress who looked really pretty. She should have been here to look at the houses earlier. Can you find out which villa she was interested in?"
Caroline was momentarily stunned by Brentley's request but then remembered seeing Claire at the entrance with Brentley earlier.
"I'll find the person who attended to your friend earlier. You can ask her directly," Caroline said softly.
"Alright," Brentley nodded slightly and walked over to the lounge area, sitting down on the sofa to rest.
Caroline quickly walked to the reception desk and asked in a low voice, "Xena, can you check who attended to the lady in the white dress who just left?"
The receptionist, Xena, quickly glanced at the registration records on the computer and replied softly, "Miss Caroline, the lady who just left was attended to by Manager Rosa."
"Manager Rosa?" Caroline froze for a moment upon hearing those words, a hint of exasperation flashing in her eyes.
Caroline had been working at this real estate company for several years and generally got along well with her colleagues. However, she never quite saw eye to eye with Manager Rosa.
Manager Rosa's full name was Jessica Rosa, had been Caroline's college classmate. Their relationship had been rocky even back then. After graduating, both ended up at the same company. Initially, their relationship was cordial, but things took a turn for the worse when Jessica frequently used underhanded tactics to steal clients from her. Their rivalry grew more intense over time.
Last year, both Caroline and Jessica competed for the position of Sales Department Manager. However, Jessica's boyfriend had connections with the company's CEO, allowing her to secure the position at the villa sales office through the back door. Caroline, on the other hand, was assigned to manage a regular residential sales office.
Although both held managerial positions, the difference in the clientele they could access was significant, leading to a gap in their earnings. Caroline, despite being more capable, lost out to Jessica, who relied on her relationships rather than her skills. This experience made Caroline realize that sometimes, for women, choosing the right husband could be more important than anything else.
Both were materialistic and dreamed of marrying into wealth families. However, their approaches were vastly different. Jessica was willing to do anything to sell a house, often engaging in immoral activities with clients or higher-ups. While Caroline also a money lover, had always adhered to her principles. She would only consider compromising her values for someone like Brentley, a super-rich heir. For anyone else, she would never abandon her standards.
"Caroline, should I go find Manager Rosa now?" the young receptionist asked softly.
"Yes, go ahead and call her down," Caroline replied after a brief hesitation, nodding slightly. She wanted to take advantage of Brentley's presence today to put Jessica Rosa in her place and curb her arrogance. The young receptionist, hearing this, quickly hurried upstairs.
A few minutes later, she returned, followed by a woman who, though not as striking as Caroline, had a certain alluring charm about her.
"Oh my, I was wondering who was looking for me.
Turns out it's you, Caroline!" Jessica greeted Caroline warmly as soon as she saw her.
"Jessica, my client has some questions for you," Caroline said directly, not in the mood for their usual banter.
"Your client?" Jessica paused, then asked nonchalantly, "Where is your client?"
"Mr. Carter is waiting over there," Caroline replied, walking towards Brentley's location.
Despite their usual rivalry, Jessica knew well enough about Caroline's influence. She understood that Caroline wouldn't personally bring someone over unless they were a serious buyer.
A few seconds later, Caroline reached Brentley and respectfully said, "Mr. Carter, I've brought the person who previously assisted your friend. You can ask her any questions you have."
Jessica was stunned by Caroline's respectful tone towards Brentley. Her face showed complete disbelief. She had never imagined that the client Caroline referred to was this plainly dressed young man. If Caroline hadn't spoken to him herself, Jessica would never have guessed that he had the means to buy a villa here.
"Caroline, you can't be serious. This is the client you were talking about?"
Jessica took a step forward, her expression puzzled as she asked Caroline.
"Yeah, this is Mr. Carter. Do you have a problem with that?" Caroline replied calmly.
"Caroline, have you been fooled by this guy? Do you really think someone like him can afford a villa here?" Jessica asked, her tone filled with exasperation.
"Mr. Carter bought a villa at my sales office just a few days ago and then gave it away. Do you really think someone like him can't afford a villa here?" Caroline responded proudly, as if Brentley had given the villa to her instead of Vienna.
The saleswomen who had previously looked down on Brentley Carter now had a completely different look in their eyes after hearing Caroline's words. It was as if they were ready to devour him at any moment.
Jessica couldn't help but give Brentley another look, thinking to herself, "Who would have thought that rich kids these days are so low-key, going out dressed like that?"
"Do you remember a girl in a white dress who looked at houses at your sales office? Do you remember which villa she was interested in?" Brentley asked, ignoring the shocked looks from everyone and stepping forward to face Jessica.
"Yes, she was looking at Villa 302," Jessica replied softly, still a bit stunned. "I'll buy that villa," Brentley said casually, as if he were buying vegetables at a market, without even asking about the price or the size of the villa.
Jessica was once again stunned by his words, her eyes filled with nothing but shock.
