As Apollonia neared the end of her speech, Gaius suddenly thrust his arm through the gap in the iron bars, glaring at her with a contorted expression.
“Arrogant wench! How dare you!”
But just before his hand could make contact with her, Apollonia stepped back, causing his arm to flail uselessly in the air.
“Don’t you dare attempt to lecture me! Pascal’s granddaughter of all people should NOT LECTURE ME!” Gaius roared at Apollonia, resembling an old, caged beast.
“You! You’ll turn out the same way! You may arrogantly try to teach me, but do you truly believe you’re any different?” he shouted with a voice that carried a sense of exhaustion, his eyes flickering with madness.
“Do you think I’m unaware of your cruelty? You, too, cannot leave those who pose a threat to you alive. It’s no different for anyone who occupies the throne.”
