Chapter 201: Tying Up Loose Ends (6)
Apollonia rose slowly from her bed, having fallen asleep late into the night while reviewing some papers.
It was intentional though. She wanted to avoid hearing any trivial updates concerning the executions of Gaius and Louis Liepherr.
Uninterested in whether the executioner had arrived on time, the presence of spectators, or the current state of the prisoners, she preferred to receive a single comprehensive report once it was all over.
“Louis Liepherr’s execution has been carried out,” Adrianne stated as Apollonia hauled herself up and sat on a chair in front of the table.
She seemed to have been waiting for her to wake up, wasting no time with pleasantries and urgently delivering the news.
“Without any resistance? What a consistent man,” Apollonia responded while moving lethargically, bringing a teacup to her lips.
She had not yet read Adrianne’s tense expression as she was still groggy from sleep.
