Chapter 66: A Proposal (3)
“This must be a miracle, Your Majesty,” Pedro Reis, the palace physician, reported to the emperor. The two of them stood by Apollonia’s bedside. It had been years since the Emperor last visited his daughter’s room
Around them were a few noblewomen who had come to visit Apollonia during their stay at the palace, along with their attendants.
“Her Highness sustained burns on her arms and legs, but fortunately, there are no other injuries.”
“Do the burns remain?” asked the emperor, looking puzzled.
Putting aside the fact that she was injured by fire, he could hardly believe that the burns remained on her body considering her remarkable healing abilities.
“I regret to inform you, Your Majesty, but these scars will likely remain throughout the rest of her life.”
A look of sadness crossed Apollonia’s face as she lowered her head and the emperor approached her.
“Roll up your sleeves,” he instructed.
Apollonia complied, pulling up her sleeves as directed.
