Chapter 63: Farewell (4)
The night before.
Uriel had decided to take a brief break from the banquet hall to cool down. Attending the banquet was an obligation he couldn’t escape, and it had been going on for several days now.
“I can’t get used to this,” he muttered to himself.
His pocket was filled with handkerchiefs given to him by some young ladies, and the mixture of their smells made him dizzy. One by one, they might have a refreshing fragrance, but putting all of them together made the smell a foul stench instead. Because of this, Uriel pushed them deep into his pocket.
To clear his mind, he started thinking about Apollonia, which always proved to be effective when he was tired.
‘I wonder if things are going well.’
She had mentioned that she would be seeing off the Epinhardts. Although Uriel wanted to accompany her, he couldn’t leave because tradition dictated that the winner of the hunting contest attend all the banquets.
