Nox felt all the strength drain from his body in an instant. He couldn’t deny Adrianne’s words.
Just what had happened to him in just a few minutes? He couldn’t tell.
His profound resentment towards Apollonia had been the only real emotion he’d ever harbored for a woman in the past, but with time, it had evolved into trust and unwavering loyalty to her.
But the emotions surging through him now were entirely different from all of that.
“I…” he stammered.
Adrianne’s long, fluttering eyelashes caught his attention as she blinked slowly.
“Until we meet again, Your Grace.”
However, she departed without waiting for Nox to finish his sentence, leaving only a curt farewell behind.
She left Nox standing alone in the center of the hall, dazed and lost, while she slowly disappeared into the crowd.

“Ah, I should have gone too,” Apollonia said regretfully.
