After my conversation with Luo's mother, I walked out of the house. From the entrance, I watched as Tom and Luo conversed with each other.
Tom said something to her, and she burst into laughter. What did he say to her? I've never seen Tom smile this much before. I know I haven't known him for long, but he always keeps a neutral expression around me. He doesn't smile, frown, or show any signs of weakness.
What is going on between the two? They haven't noticed me. I think I should let them converse for a while longer; I'm not in a hurry to leave anyway.
I stepped back into the room and found Luo's mother working on her vegetables.
"Any problem?" she asked when she noticed me. "I thought you were leaving."
"I'm thirsty; I came to quench my thirst."
"Oh dear," she said as she rose to her feet, walked to the fridge, opened it, took out a bottle of water, and handed it to me.
"Thank you."
