Chloe’s hopes of discreetly returning to the mansion were promptly dashed. That day, she had the misfortune of bumping into her employers’ entire family, who had started their breakfast uncharacteristically early in the garden. Upon witnessing Chloe with Damien, Stella looked on in wide-eyed surprise, which was swiftly replaced with a broad smile as she realized that this was the day the two were to leave.
“So you’re finally setting off!” she exclaimed.
“Yes, hence we’ve come to bid you adieu,” Damien replied, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he nodded to Stella.
“Why not join us for breakfast?” Amidst the twins’ ceaseless chatter, Stella flitted about, directing the servants to set additional tableware. “I trust you felt no discomfort during your stay?”
“Not in the slightest. It was a delightful visit,” Damien assured her.
“Well, that’s a relief.”
“Indeed, I even found a wife. It couldn’t have been more perfect,” Damien added.
